That's a shame, but I think it's more important to get a new IP out at the launch of the Xbox One than to do a sequel. Also, it's nice to hear the original Alan Wake has gone on to sell over 3 million copies since launch.

That is a success in every sense of the word, hopefully they can go back to crafting Alan Wake 2 for the Xbox One down the road a bit. Remedy are master storytellers though, so I'll definitely be paying attention to Quantum Break.

I think there was internal confusion, the backlash in the day and age of the internet is very strong, and rightly so on some of these things. I believe they intended to dodge these questions until they found out what Sony's stance was.

In the end though, these functions are probably something that is easy enough to remove last minute if need be. Although I will say, even though I don't think you need to constantly be connected to the internet to play games, I do full...

Well with 300k online servers, Microsoft would be in prime position to have some MMO's. I also think Undead Labs game Class4, which is a zombie MMO that was originally coming to the Xbox 360, but now seems to be headed for Xbox One, is a good indication.

The fact that Lionhead Studios were hiring for MMO experience was also telling. I think the one thing consoles were missing this generation was MMO's, so I'd be all in for that no matter what console it was.

The real question will be, will Sony charge? will Sony have dedicated servers? and will people opt to buy games like COD on the Xbox One because it is the only version to have dedicated servers?

4770d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

It means dedicated servers on all games played on Xbox One, which is a huge plus. If COD can be played on Xbox One and it's the only version with dedicated servers, I think that makes a lot of people happy.

I'm sure they'll continue to add more and more servers, and the idea that developers can use Cloud to add NPC's and extra things that would normally tax the CPU, is a great idea.

Think of it this way, people here on N4G would have bashed the console no matter what Microsoft did or showed.

If you say that Microsoft said they will show 15 new exclusives, 8 of those new IP's, the N4G answer will be "How many Kinect?". I could seriously make a flow chart with things like that.

E3 will be the telling tale, and the N4G response is......"That's what we've heard the last 3 years!".

Seriously ...

I've asked this a lot, but when would it have been a better time to show off the non gaming functions? Not at E3 obviously.

Microsoft also stated earlier in the week that they wouldn't be focusing on games at the reveal, and now everyone acts surprised and says they are abandoning games, which is just insane. They still have 20 first party studios, they clearly said they have 15 exclusives to show at E3, 8 brand new IP's and 8 of these exclusives are first party ...

I like these shots, but I so wish they had an internal battery for the controller.

Yes of course I'm going to buy one. I'm a gamer, I bought a Wii U and apparently the Xbox One is just the thing to hate on at the moment.

If I hadn't checked sites like this, I wouldn't have known there was such a negative backlash from the vocal minority. I was watching the reveal and loving it. I wasn't expecting a ton of games, because Microsoft flat out said not to expect a ton of games at the reveal, E3 would be the place for all of that.

Are you serious? they did the exact opposite of Sony! I love how people flatter themselves and Sony when a similar feature is announced. The Xbox 360 is 8 years old! They've been designed and planning the Xbox One for a while now, nothing is being implemented that wasn't originally planned from the beginning.

There have been rumors about the Xbox One being a DVR for years.

You simply cant please everyone, Microsoft probably tried too hard to please everyone. I think outside of the vocal internet, angry gamer's, the standard local news, CNN and newspapers all ran stories in a positive light, and that is something people will need to consider.

If Microsoft truly wants to rule the living room, I wouldn't put it past them to launch this thing at a very competitive price, if that happens, people will buy it.

I want one, I ...

I already have a Wii U, but I think there is a lot more to learn about the PS4 and the Xbox One. I know the consensus is that the PS4 is going to win next generation without even selling a console, but I got the feeling that Microsoft plans for the Xbox One to pick up steam along the way.

Bottom line is, jury is still out, and to jump to conclusions is just idiotic right now.

How are people surprised by this? Microsoft said the Xbox One isn't backwards compatible, they are running separate structures. Do you think the PS3 will be able to cross platform play with the PS4? of course not.

Well if the next Xbox does well in terms of sales, I'm sure people will try to use the "casual" gamer argument, much like they did with the original Wii.

I think the controller screams core gamer, designed by gamer's for gamer's. The media options are just that, if you just want to play games, then play games.

How can it be considered casual when 90% of the same content will be on the PS4 as well? I mean that is majority right there.

I think we all need to wait for a bit more clarification, being able to access a game over your friends house is all good, but my younger brother who is still in college and is my roommate borrows my single player games often, I mean we both buy the latest multiplayer games new like COD, Gears, Halo, Battlefield ect.. I am a business owner and he pays for school, so he'll often borrow my single player games and go through them.

It would be a huge letdown if you couldn...

I couldn't agree more, the odd thing is that people are shocked by them not showing a lot of games, when they clearly said in the weeks leading up to the event that they weren't showing a lot of games!

They stated weeks ago that E3 was all about games, May 21st was all about the hardware. The bottom line is though, Microsoft flubbed bits of their reveal, not by failing to show games, but by not being on the same page as a company.

I want the new Xbox...

They already said the subscription carrier over, do you think they are going to have 300k servers and pay for everything themselves? With all those servers, every game should be dedicated servers, even COD.

That is the entire point of servers and that number of servers. If Microsoft is the only console game service to offer that, it's a huge win for core, competitive gamer's like myself. No more lag, no more host migration ect...

Multiplayer will continue to be tacked on because developers don't want people trading in their games. They feel if you have a multiplayer element to go back to, and DLC to keep you coming back that you'll keep the game.

4770d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

I do!

Anyway, it'll probably be $60, doubt they price their games higher than Sony and Nintendo.
