Totally fair take. I think there's a case to be made that Sony realized too late that this should have been a $40-50 game, but once you've committed to the $70 price you can't really back off of it without people assuming that it means the game is bad.
I'm just saying, we have to expect that the games we get in the future are going to look like the ones we actually spend money on. If we buy sequels but not new IP, we're going t...
Seriously. Do we want new IP or do we want them to repeatedly remake TLOU and work on Spinoffs of Uncharted? It's our choice, but if we ignore the former and buy the latter, that's what we're going to get.
Wish we could have had this game a bit sooner, but I'm excited to get it soon! This looks like it will be a good showpiece for a what a PS5 game can look like (as compared to many of the games that are just upgraded PS4 games right now).
@VersusDMC
I think it was $30. So not great, but that was one I just want to have available, so I really don't regret it. But the high prices were certainly part of my motivation in not getting everything I wanted at once. I think the Jak Collection was only $10 though.
I mean, I'm far more concerned about him trying to focus everything in on a few franchises rather than taking the time to develop new ones. This would be an easy opportunity to learn from MS. They tried hard to lean on a few key franchises, and while those still sell, they don't have nearly the cultural sway they used to have. I mean, they showed Halo Infinite and the graphics weren't the best and the internet lost it's mind with hate, but Halo 3 barely looked better than 2 an...
I picked up MGS HD collection on vita (obviously I've played those I just want to have them portably), as well as the Ratchet Trilogy. I actually had a list of games I planned to buy before August (namely trying to get basically every Final Fantasy and Persona game available between PS1, PSP, and Vita), I just was going to do it gradually up until the shutdown.
PS3 I supported like crazy when it was out, so there's less for me to go back and get there.
So true. Lol everyone who ignored PS3 and Vita's great exclusives when they actually released and only started caring about them a month ago can go back to playing Warzone again.
The rumor is that Sony isn't making a Days Gone sequel because they are using Bend to double down on the franchises you listed (at least the ones they own). So you pretty much proved his point.
If you didn't like the game, the criticism isn't directed at you. It's at people who want a sequel but didn't support the original.
I want to blast Series S for not doing 60 fps but after the Outriders situation I'll wait and see if that's actually a mistake lol.
I suppose it's some form of cosmic justice for me always complaining about new games continuing to come to PS4 instead of focusing on PS5 that this game appears to be releasing only on Quest 2 and not the original Quest.
Yeah, I think I've used PSVR like twice after getting the Quest. The hassle is a big factor, but the biggest thing is realizing how much being free of all the wires and the need for a camera improves the experience.
Yeah people on here can't understand anything beyond "well it still sold millions of copies."
Still the best Far Cry. A perfect blend of the feel of mid 2000s PC shooters with the feel of late 2000s/early 2010s console shooters. More accessible than the former, but without the handholding that would become an essential part of games like this a few years later. Also this came out just before devs became convinced that every open world game had to have 15 different types of collectibles and 5 different skill trees.
Unfortunately I just don't think any of this is going to matter to them. I understand there are a lot of us on here that care, and there are probably casuals here and there who still would like to play some older games, but by and large this isn't going to affect PS5 demand, so why would they care?
Sony's butt-fumbling of the Socom franchise is absolutely incredible looking back. They were so obsessed with trying to come up with a "Halo Killer" at that time that they managed to massively mishandle the one franchise they had at that time that could have been a true rival in terms of having an online community that extended to mainstream players. And I know that the PSN hack didn't help, but they were mishandling Socom well before that.
Add to the list...
I've been waiting years for people to understand that "it sold millions" doesn't automatically mean that a game was a success. I'd like to think we are getting there, but I kind of doubt it. For some reason people seem to be understand the idea that a movie can gross hundreds of millions and still be a failure or only 80 million and still be a success, all relative to the budget and the expectations, but this seems to be an impossible concept for gamers.
The ability to switch units at anytime was a pretty interesting singleplayer mechanic that I thought we would see more of, but it never really caught on. I guess maybe the recent Watch Dogs Legion had something similar, although I didn't play it.
Classic "the U.S. has done bad things in certain instances, so if you are American you can never criticize anything evil that happens in any other part of the world" comment. I was sure we'd see a few of these in here.
If this doesn't work out for you, be sure to bring up the totally still relevant Crusades from 1000 years ago.
I like that we all just pretend inflation doesn't exist and that game budgets haven't increased every generation. We were actually spoiled that games stayed at $60 so long. In fact, after years of increases, they stayed at $60 so long that kids who got into games during the PS3/360 era and continued into last gen never knew anything different. Ironically they'd be getting less flak if they would have increased prices more often, because it wouldn't be such an earth shattering ...
