This was my most anticipated launch title, but now the repeat delays are making it feel like Driveclub.
I really like that they keep delaying this game and then doing press for it as if they didn't.
@TheGreatGazoo30
It's deceptive because the title (which has been corrected) made an assertion that the article does not support. That does not mean that the article doesn't convey interesting information.
As far as whether the number of unique users is more important than sales, is it? Because when a game has a lower barrier (Great Steam sale, PS Plus, Games with Gold, or Gamepass) a lot more people will check it out, but by definition they aren&...
Yep, very deceptive given the games inclusion on Gamepass.
I like this idea, but in a way it actually makes sense to do the opposite. I mean, my PSN account is from 2006 (literally as old as it can be), and I've had PS Plus since the PS3 era, so I'd love it if PlayStation rewarded loyalty. However, from there perspective it doesn't make sense to reserve consoles for people like me, because they can bank on me buying it, regardless of if I have to wait (I got a preorder the night they announced the price, but I would have waited).
Lol I see what you did there.
Definitely, I certainly overestimated people on this site.
Yes.
Yeah. Also you can't assume any prior shared knowledge, even if it's from the past few years.
Yeah, that's kind of on me for not putting the /s on there.
I thought it would be clear from the context that I was joking. Yeah, I've seen those videos. The aren't used in the military now, and probably won't be for some time, but I think it's fine for an arcadey shooter. Which is the point.
You haven't heard of jokes?
Robotic dogs aren't realistic, time to freak out.
PS Directs, which limit you to one console per PSN ID, are a good start. Obviously scalpers can make more PSN IDs, but it's an extra step to get around compared to Walmart (or other similar stores).
You can't be a scalper unless you sell to an actual gamer. If you just hang on to the console, you're a consumer or a collector.
Meaningless in terms of knowing total sales, but useful for comparing titles against one another. Unless there's a rationale to do so, I'm not going to assume one title sells far better digitally than another. I'd be willing to assume that the most mainstream titles skew more towards physical sales (COD, FIFA, GTA, etc), because casuals seem to gravitate more towards disc (I have casual friends who probably don't even know that all games are available digitally), but otherwise...
At this point I just want them to add it to spite the "git gud" tools.
Those two things are definitely equivalent and that isn't a lazy analogy. That's all, and simple. /s
"An autosave system would be abused and ruin the game."
Wouldn't it only ruin the experience for people willing to make the effort to frequently offload saves to the cloud in order to get around their deaths being autosaved?
If that's the case, how is that relevant to you if you would not ruin the game for yourself? It's not as if this is a competitive experience. It's a singleplayer game. If they add a feature that is optional...
But Driveclub isn't an example of a game that launched on time and was bad because of it. It's an example of a game where repeated delays were insufficient to get it into a decent launch state even about a year after it was expected. Deathloop seems like it's fitting into a similar pattern, although fortunately the online aspect of Deathloop will be a much smaller component that it was for Driveclub, so even if that's a mess, the game could still be solid.
