Ah the brain dead assumption that everyone who liked the game on console bought it on PS3, PS4, and PS5 at full price. Because of course we know there were no people who bought a PS4 who didn't own a PS3. And we definitely know that there wasn't just a massively popular HBO show based on the game that exposed a ton of people to it for the first time. And most importantly, sales and PS Plus absolutely don't exist.

Remember that time there was no need for Last of Us Part I on PS5 because everyone interested in the game had already played it?

What? A major COD game (they are all major, but MW2 was successful even for COD) just released late last year, and it continues to sell well. Tons of the people picking up PS5s are also getting COD.

Realistically the casuals buying have no idea COD might end up not being on PS5 in the next few years. Heck, many probably don't know yet that the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout games won't be on PS5.

That would be nice, B4B was such disappointing trash.

There has definitely been a lowered focus on what you might generally call "realism within the context of the game world." As in, devs 10-15 years ago seemed to put more focus in the game world feeling real, whereas now all the focus is on visual fidelity and tacking on rpg systems so people can focus on the leveling meta game.

Some examples: Dying Light 1 to Dying Light 2 - DL1 was a lot more physics focused on the way you moved and the way enemies reacted, where...

Unfortunately Wolverine will probably sell as many copies in its first 12-18 months on the market as the entire resistance series has sold all time.

Lol the "install base" strategy is once again shown to be nonsense. PS5 version of RE4 Remake outsold the PS4 version by more than 5-1 (73% to 13%).

Lol when Ragnorak came out and the PS4 version flopped compared to PS5 I predicted the RE4 split would be 5-1 or 6-1 and came out right in the middle.

Arguably Switch 2's biggest competition will be the Switch itself, especially if it isn't enough of a leap. Even though 3DS was successful, it didn't even begin to approach the success of DS. If people perceive the Switch 2 or "Switch U" or "Super Switch" or whatever they call it as being insufficiently superior to the Switch (or worse, if they fail to adequately convey in their marketing that it's a distinct new system, a la the Jimmy Fallon Wii U debacle)...

@Lightning77

It's actually you who isn't understanding the relevant distinction.

Bethesda was making Redfall (and other games like Starfield) for PS5. When MS bought Bethesda, they told them to stop making PS5 versions of those games. Smart move, makes sense.

Shift Up was making Project Eve (now Stellar Blade) for Xbox. When Sony came in and funded the project, they told them to cancel the Xbox version. Obvious move, of course t...

I mean, they don't have to explain themselves. They have no obligation to put IP they own on other platforms, except to satisfy contractual obligations. It's just that when they blatantly lie people are going to notice.

The reason this keeps getting brought up is that MS specifically told regulators it would have no financial incentive to make Bethesda games exclusive. We all knew this to be a lie at the time, and this is just more evidence of that lie.

Hahaha.

Though I'm sure 2K is just looking at the revenue they get from NBA2K through micro transactions and thinking they can replicate that in another space. You have to remember that, while the N4G types who hate mtx represent the target audience for certain types of games, the types who buy NBA2K and FIFA or who play free to play games like Valorant or Fortnite at best don't care about games having mtx and are unaware they are controversial and at worst see mic...

How about "To not be exclusive to an unwanted additional games launcher on PC"?

What is the Switch in this analogy? Alfred?

1181d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

I think it's more about understanding the target audience for your game. I mean, you don't really hear Destiny 2's playerbase complaining about always-online, because it's understood by that audience as part of that type of game, even if you aren't actively playing with other people. The problem with Redfall is that they have been trying to present the game as a single player focused game where co-op is an option but not a necessity. In such a a situation, people expect to...

"I urge that you read up on what NFT from non-bias lenses are and the potential for it to be beneficial for web."

Part of the problem though is that everytime NFTs are implemented or talked about being implemented, it's in a way that feels clearly designed just to rake in even more mtx at the expense of the quality of the game. Then the defenders of NFTs come in and talk about a purely hypothetical scenario where NFTs could be beneficial by improving already e...

Yeah, I don't understand how people are not getting this. This is why the continued development on PS4 was so disappointing. Where devs now frequently take 4-5 years to make a AAA game, many of Sony's best studios won't release a game that actually takes advantage of PS5 until late in the console's lifecycle.

Uhh, I mean, it isn't one of these games where once the enemies have detected you they will magically forget you exist because you walked behind a wall or went into a bush. And yeah the AI isn't stormtrooper level accuracy. Again, these are positives, not negatives to me.

To be fair, I'm really directing this at the people most critical of "Modern Ubisoft" or "Modern Open World" design elements. Like the type of people who fawned all over Eld...
