Yep I've seen a few demonstrations where it looks really good running on top end PC hardware, but in practice all it has been for me is a framerate killer.
I'll never understand the "people didn't talk as much about framerate twenty years ago, so why are you noticing now?" argument. Should a group of people not progress in their knowledge and understanding over twenty years? People twenty years ago also accepted really bad control schemes; does that mean we should also accept games with bad controls today?
It's always funny to see how framerate ceases to be important to a group as soon as a game they like has a bad one. It reminds me of when Elden Ring came out and the performance was a trainwreck, but all the Soulslike fans who had predetermined it was the greatest thing ever went into excuse mode. It was "that's what VRR is for" on Xbox, "just wait for a patch" on PC, and "just play the PS4 version on your PS5" on Playstation.
@blacktiger
How is an attachable drive specifically designed for discs meant to "kill disc" as you say? It literally gives people who initially opt for all digital to buy a disc drive later so they can use discs (an option not available on Series S or PS5 Digital). Is it your theory that the external drive will look so stupid that people will opt against having it? Because a lot of people already have external HDDs attached to their consoles and those don't lo...
Yeah it is seeming that way.
At this point I think Redfall has had so much bad press that their best bet is to just get it out and let people forget about it. What they need to focus on now is making absolutely sure they don't bungle Starfield by launching it at 30 fps on Series X.
Well when you have all these people praising gimmick shooters like Tarkov and Hunt:Showdown as the next big thing and giving a pass to their egregious microtransactions, is it any surprise COD is moving towards that model?
"they aren’t pay to win, it’s merely skipping a portion of the grind, imo."
Lol that falls under the heading of pay to win. When I say pay to win, I don't literally mean you pay for armor that makes you invincible and a gun that one shots everyone. I mean that spending money affects gameplay.
It's wild that a few years ago games like Middle Earth:Shadow of War and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 got raked over the coals for having systems wher...
Obviously I'm exaggerating with the "everyone." It's just annoying that these types of games get a pass. Like anytime a major studio game (like a Battlefield or COD) has purely cosmetic micro transactions, it gets trashed as corporate greed. I don't like any micro transactions, but I certainly don't want any that affect gameplay. Meanwhile every few months you'll see an article from PC Gamer or some similar site talking about Hunt Showdown as this gem of a game t...
This looks awesome. Might have to grab the PC version in six months when it actually works.
People are blasting Activision for being an evil corporation on this, meanwhile everyone continues to fawn on pay to win games like Hunt: Showdown and Tarkov and treat them like they are a breath of fresh air.
This should be a good lesson to people to ignore those who say "stop complaining about game X online, it's going to come out and still sell well so there is no point in complaining." I agree with the "vote with your wallet" concept, but we also have to be very clear with devs/publishers about what we don't want in these games or they'll always have the wrong takeaway even when we do vote with our wallets. Maybe this game will still be bad (it looks fairly irred...
It's like they want people to hate on this game. How is this launching at 30 fps on Series X? You have to wonder at this point if they are limiting the Series X version at this point because they can't get it running at 60 fps on the S.
"A Special Look at Final Fantasy XVI."
I take from this that I should expect the announcements that Sony purchased Take-Two and that GTA VI is PS5 exclusive, that Bungie is developing a new PS5-exclusive multiplayer shooter, and that Bloodborne 2 is coming out this fall. If any of these reasonable expectations are unfulfilled, this event will definitely be "meh."
Resident Evil 4 was held back for PS4 and people on PS4 bought old sports games and Minecraft instead.
Yep. Some of the stuff people made on Playstation was pretty cool, but for something like this to really take off, it needed to be on PC.
A lot of people who never played a shooter prior to like 2012 get really mad about anything that isn't a modern combat game.
Well, part of this is bias towards Nintendo, as you imply, but a lot of it is simply lower expectations for Nintendo with regard to anything "online." People are so used to being underwhelmed by Nintendo's online offerings, that when they announced they were shutting down digital storefronts, it's par for the course, and people are just happy they gave a year of notice, rather than shutting them down in the middle of the night. Sony and MS, on the other hand, are expected to...
Tons of reasons, but I'll just mention a few.
1) L4D2 feels like a PC shooter in terms of aim speed, movement speed, etc. Even when playing on PC, B4B evidently feels like a slower experience designed for console first. Obviously this is nice for console players, but L4D is a pc-focused series, so if you market your game as a successor, I expect it to feel like it's designed for PC.
2) The AI of the standard zombies (or whatever you call them) is lower. Again, this f...
I mean, they did advertise the game at 60fps, but I'd be complaining even if they hadn't. It's not just that I expect games advertised at 60fps to run at 60fps; I expect all AAA games on Series X or PS5 to run at 60fps.
