I'd love to hear how the Force Unleashed, which lasted about 8-9 hours, is anything like the value proposition here. Or how this game is "EA crap." And I mean the base game, not the fact that there are map packs, because you don't have to buy those. Because the fact that many games EA makes are bad (or start badly until they are patched), does not automatically mean every game they publish is bad.
Well, we don't yet know what the "Battles" mode in this one is, given that it is inaccessible in the beta and they have not explained it. I'm hoping it satisfies the "singleplayer/splitscreen vs bots" category.
I really don't understand the expectation of some major single-player component. Battlefront 2's "singleplayer" consisted of cutscenes between matches against bots on the multiplayer maps.
Yet it is perfectly normal to shell out $700ish dollars every 9-12 months for the new iPhone (not saying your wife does that, just a general comment).
It seems like a lot of people decided at the announcement that they weren't going to like this game since it's made by EA, and now they are manufacturing reasons to support that decision.

Yes but what do you do in the game? /s
You'd also need to factor in that the PS community loves to ignore great Insomniac games in favor of annualized garbage.
So, today we got release dates for Deus Ex and now Uncharted 4. I hope Hello Games decides to follow the trend and give us the NMS release date.
Exactly. Sony claims they don't buy third party exclusives, but I highly doubt they didn't pay significant money to Konami to get MGS4 as an exclusive. At the time(back when everyone was talking about the doom of the PS3, lol) that might have made sense, but it has since become obvious, based on both last gen and this gen, that most multi-platform Japanese games sell far better on Playstation than Xbox. So why should Sony pay for the exclusive when the game is going to sell primarily ...
@chaosdreams
"if option a requires less sales for the same revenue, they will go with option a."
Not necessarily. Fewer sales means less opportunity for word of mouth advertising, a smaller online community to attract new players, a smaller fanbase that would potentially buy a sequel, smaller numbers that don't sound as good to press/investors, a smaller number of people to buy dlc, etc.
Even assuming, for the sake of argument, ...
Obviously games wouldn't be cheaper to begin with, but as demand died down when games got older, they would have incentive to drop the price, to stimulate demand.
You can call insult ubisoft and EA all you want, but they'd much rather sell 15 copies of a 6 month old game for 30-40 dollars than only 3-4 for 60.
They can't do this right now because it would make their retail partners upset.
Look at how quickly digital prices drop on...
I love how everyone downvotes you and says digital prices won't drop faster than they do now once physical games die out. Clearly these people have no knowledge of Steam.
Even though I'm a Playstation user, I wish MS would have stuck with their original vision for the Xbox One EXCEPT FOR THE ALWAYS ONLINE ASPECT. All digital doesn't require always online DRM, contrary to what many of those desperately clinging to a dying medium want everyone to believe. If they h...
Far Cry 2 is your go-to for a boring game? What is your go-to boring movie, The Godfather?
"Turns 10 this year.". I see what you did there.
@Redbutterfly
Not as much as they've pushed it this year, and in previous years they never let other people play it. Keep in mind Sony has said they are essentially treating this as a first party game, and they are severely lacking in exclusives this fall. Also, it's procedurally generated, so once the engine is in place, it's not like they have to finish building levels, etc, that could drag development time out.
It uses estimates from retailers, so in light of the fact that NPD only provides real numbers for North America, VGchartz is the best comprehensive source available. PC numbers are so far off because vgchartz doesn't track digital sales (which is why their estimates of console game sales won't be as relevant this generation as more people switch to digital) and almost everyone buys PC games digitally now. Consoles can't be downloaded digitally though, so the estimates are more acc...
Why? They've pushed that game like crazy this year (Game Informer cover story, IGN first, stage at E3) and people who have played it say it plays like a finished game. Waiting another year would kill their hype/momentum.
Yeah it probably is over a million with digital, but as the premiere console exclusive during the season it came out, I'm not sure that's a success. Especially since it seems like they actually spent decent money marketing it. As I recall, there were some cool bundles with that game, too.
Did you not play the old Battlefront games? They had no true campaigns either, but were excellent (particularly the first one). In fact, they had fewer modes than this new one. They did allow splitscreen in all modes, which was really awesome.
