It's interesting that GI thinks those who identify with Gamergate who are only interested in gaming journalism ethics should have to surrender the term to the minority who are acting in a very negative way and misrepresenting the stated goals of the movement. When a minority of people identifying as feminists misrepresent that movement's stated goals, no one suggests that those who adhere to the goals should abandon the term. When extremists from a religion commit acts of violence, no...
It is kind of interesting. I'm starting to wonder if the super heavy first party load of 2008-2013 wasn't largely to do with the catching up the PS3 had to do during those years. Now that Sony is off on a good footing, maybe the focus will shift back to third party. Or maybe the first party load will be just as heavy, it just needs more time to get going.
FC2 doesn't get enough love, the way these comment sections go, it seems like most people only played 3. I guess people don't talk about the original much either, but at this point it feels like the Crysis games are more similar to FC1 while the FC series is now quite different.
True, I usually use summer to catch up on my Steam library.
I'm going to have to find a way to fit this in between Shadow of Mordor, continued Destiny play with friends, and Far Cry 4. I guess this will be a nice replacement for the time I was planning on spending on Hotline Miami 2.
@starchild
You are right, PS fans downplayed these issues against the Xbox fans who created these debates over minor graphical differences. I only even started thinking about minor differences in framerate and resolution between different versions of a game when from 2006-2007 Xbox fans went crazy every time a multiplatform game ran at a solid 30 FPS/720p on 360 and on PS3 had occasional dips down to 28 FPS. Except in those days the review sites factored the differences in an...
I like how people love to trash on VGchartz even though the site is based on estimates compiled from a sample of retailer sales numbers, and it is always close to the mark. Yes, NPDs are the most accurate, but they only factor in the US (probably why Xbox fans prefer them). The site's true flaw is the failure to account for digital sales, but there's not much they can do about that.
I wonder how many questions will revolve around the developers altering the development process to avoid platform-related controversy.
I wish they would have let Evolution do an arcade open world racing game, rather than another circuit racer (Driveclub). Maybe Driveclub will be good, but with GT in Sony's stable, I would have rather seen something different from their other racing studio.
I love how many people talk about the vita being "dead" or in "oblivion" and then turn around and talk about how the Wii U is all sunshine and rainbows. Both are great systems, but sales-wise they are both in the tank. Yes, even if SSB sells 3 million Wii Us (which is optimistic).
Fair question, perhaps limited resources for the spin-off series. If you have to pick, why not offline, which no one else is doing?
How is everyone so upset? So few games have split screen co-op anymore, even though many people like to play games with real life friends. Pretty much every other game with co-op is online only, I don't see why this one being local is such an issue.
The thing is, you don't make all that money so you can turn around and lose it. Don't get me wrong, cash reserves are good when a business makes a bad move, but Nintendo won't just sit and burn through their cash, as their shareholders wouldn't go for it. Fortunately they have the 3DS, but even that isn't selling as well as the DS did, because unfortunately where our generation was raised on Nintendo handhelds, kids today are often just handed an iphone to play bad touch g...
They complain about the lack of content in Destiny. It's one thing to give Titanfall a 9, but if you do that then you take away from other games for a lack of content, it seems a little backwards.
Well, I guess all of Sony's advertising money paid off, even Polygon seems to think it is PS-exclusive.
I'm confused why people were waiting in line to buy something they could just pre-load several days before. I get the resale argument, but with this being such a multiplayer-focused title it seems like one people will probably keep anyway.
I'm really disappointed by the lack of 7.5 jokes here.
2 has the whole story of Kratos using his power to support Sparta, then Zeus tricking him to put his power in the Blade of Olympus; that's the main thing that sets off the whole final revenge story. I'll give it to you though, 1 had a very good contained story, while 2 and 3 were very dependent on each other.
Good to know that PS4 can run the Source engine.
@Inception,
No, I very much enjoyed the first party titles of the PS1 and PS2 eras. I didn't mean to imply there weren't good first party titles then, just that some of the years of the PS3 era were the heaviest first party focus(factoring in number of games/messaging/advertising as a whole). As to your second point, I know that Sony has a lot of first party games in the works, but for many of them we don't yet know release dates or if they are going to come out ...
