Of course you would, this game is actually going to be on Xbox.
I feel like this is going to be one of those games where all of us (that is, N4G regulars and our equivalents on other sites) skip the game, thinking it looks incredibly generic, then we'll be surprised to find out the game sold 4 million copies in its first week.
It's really hard to guess without knowing the prices. And all my price estimates go out the window if this 2TB drive on the all digital version rumor ends up being true. I think that no matter what though, they will favor the disc based version at least 60/40 at launch.
The irony of making a game about a war against a repressive communist regime and then editing the trailer to satisfy a repressive communist regime should not be lost on anyone.
I'd love to see it get a definitive edition PS5 release with upgraded framerates, etc. That really benefitted the Last of Us in terms of sales, and Ghost of Tsushima had effectively the same role this gen it had last gen (final big new IP exclusive before the next generation).
Yes, they do, and they have this entire gen on PS4 and XONE. Games no longer run from discs at all; discs are just an alternative installation method (and effectively a form of DRM because you have to have the disc in the drive to play even though the game is fully installed). People keep forwarding the argument that buying disc-based games saves hdd space, but it hasn't been true since the PS3/360 gen.
@DJSlotty
See, if one of them went 550-600, sure. But now that we know both companies are making cheaper versions of their devices (PS5 digital and Xbox Series S), that limits the range in which it is logical to undercut price with the higher end machines.
For instance, if XBX comes out and says XSX is $500 and XSS is $300, is Sony really going to make the standard PS5 $400-450? That would be great, but then the all digital version would have to be $300-3...
On the one hand, it does seem likely that the standard PS5 and the XSX are each going to be $499. On the other hand, it's going to be pretty annoying if the the result of this absurd game of price chicken is the two consoles ending up at the same price.
And now that it's confirmed PS5 can do it (it already was, but certain people keep denying it), us fanboys can still say that it's a gimmick. I don't think ray tracing is a gimmick because it's going to be used on Xbox Series X, I think it's a gimmick because I've seen the Nvidia comparisons with ray tracing on and off and and the massive hit to framerate isn't ever worth a few minor improvements to the lighting effects.
It's almost like they are going out of their way to antagonize the very people who kept their game alive through word of mouth, etc. And people always say that "oh it doesn't matter if you complain about a company, because they make so much money that you boycotting won't matter," but even if that's true for larger games, Control did not sell like crazy. If they alienate their hardcore fanbase, which they seem intent on doing, it could make or break their next action...
PS5 Digital needs to be $100 cheaper than the standard to be compelling. If it's $50 cheaper, everyone will just buy the standard except at launch if it gets sold out and they are "stuck" with the digital version as the only option. And the "well the disc drive costs about $50 to Sony" argument is the least compelling thing I've ever heard. The price difference needs to reflect the perceived benefit to Sony (they need to entice people to all digital so that they ge...
Classic Tencent
Really only for local multiplayer games, which unfortunately are few and far between these days. Also, it could only possibly give Xbox an advantage in terms of influencing a sale of you assume that the person purchasing a new system already owns both systems (and thus has old controllers for each).
@shaggy2304
I understand all that. And if there is a significant price difference, that makes a lot of sense. But regardless of intentions about who the devices are for, if they are only $100 apart, many of the people who would have purchased the Series S will say, "well, I only have a 1080p tv now, but maybe I'll get a 4k tv later, so I may as well get the 4k capable version, especially since it has a disc drive (assuming that rumor of XSS being all digital is tru...
I do hope for interesting things like this. I remember hype about this in the XOne controller, but it seemed to die off pretty quickly. I'm just afraid that we are going to see it used in the first year in a few prominent games but then devs will start ignoring it.
So glad they there is going to be a built in mute button. My hope is that it is muted by default and you actually have to press the button to turn it on.
I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying, but you forget that not everyone gets on game sites. Never underestimate the ability of casuals to be unaware of well known things or to misinterpret what seems to us like clear messaging.
Now that we know Series S is a thing, I don't understand this "MS is going to undercut with Series X" argument. Do you really think they are going to price their high end 12 TF console at $399 and then launch the 4 TF Series S at $299? The series s would be pointless in that case.
Launch titles have been discussed and can continue to be discussed.
Well, it's based on the premise that you will automatically harbor real life animosity against the citizens of any country whose government is used as villain in a work of fiction (you jump straight from video games to the assumption of world ending nuclear war).
The thing is, I played the early assassin's Creed games, but it never made me want to hunt down Catholic people. I played Metal Gear Solid:Peace Walker, but it didn't make me want destroy the CIA. I pla...
