@Silly gameAr
I hope so much that I am. I've never so strongly wanted to be wrong about anything related to gaming. I'm just trying to be realistic; I'd be more optimistic if they'd treated this purchase like the Minecraft one, which was talked about as a general Microsoft purchase, whereas MS has clearly branded this as Bethesda becoming a part of the Xbox brand. Certainly the Minecraft purchase, as well as Microsoft becoming a touch more platform agnostic ...
A lot of people have their heads in the sand about this Bethesda deal and what it means for PlayStation. A lot of people are pushing the "it's exactly like the Minecraft deal," but that hasn't really been confirmed anywhere. Just saying that Bethesda is going to keep publishing their games doesn't mean they'll keep publishing them everywhere indefinitely (although it does mean Deathloop and Tokyo Ghost Wire are okay).
The magnitude of the Rare purchase is not even in the same league as that of buying Bethesda. A lot of people seem to be under the impression MS has only purchased Bethesda Game Studios, so just one dev, when in fact they purchased a publisher and their entire family of studios.
"Troll" lol. I've owned every PlayStation ever made, including Vita. I'm just not going to pretend like abysmal news isn't abysmal.
Seriously, can you think of anything that's been worse for PlayStation since the announcement of the PS3's starting price? Maybe the PSN outage, but even that was a temporary problem.
Lol @darthv72 is wrong because a lot of the ease of PS5 is that it is a logical progression from PS4, whereas Xbox is more complicated because you have to optimize for so many platforms (One, One X, XSS, XSX, PC).
Ultimately it doesn't matter because MS will probably just buy Take-Two and CD Projekt and Square Enix anyway.
If you had asked me to come up with worse news, I couldn't have done it.
I agree that seemed how things were trending, but this could radically change the landscape.
I don't know if that's true anymore. At the very least it's up for debate now. At minimum, Sony needs a studio that can make exclusive first person Western RPGs. Xbox is getting close to having a monopoly on that market (with CD Projekt obviously being an exception).
See, I don't think this will be the case unless Gamepass just comes to PS5 (which I expect to happen to some extent if PS5 destroys Xbox for a few years).
When MS bought Minecraft, it was branded very much as a Microsoft purchase. This time, they made it clear Bethesda is part of Xbox now. Although it's the same company of course, I think associating Minecraft with MS as whole was an intentional move to keep it from being perceived as an Xbox only game. They seem to...
Ugh, how much does it matter if MS is going to buy every big studio.
Wow. Didn't see this coming. Guessing a lot of "Bethesda has sucked since Oblivion" people are going to start singing a different tune now.
Yeah I don't understand this idea that more people would have gotten them if Sony had provided an exact time. Different people might have gotten them, but the same number of overall, so the same number of people would be disappointed (probably more actually, because the bots/scalpers would have been more prepared for an announced pre-order time).
As it was, it was literally the people showing the most interest in preordering who got pre-orders.
Really wondering what the breakdown is going to be in how many they make of each, and if they anticipate demand correctly. Like are they going to make 65% X and 35% S? Or do they think S will be just as popular based on its low price?
Also, will having a set date and time just result in bots buying up all the units?
Infamous was criminally underrated on PS3. To be fair, at that time Sony didn't really market and first party titles other than Naughty Dog games.
But the fact that Ghost of Tsushima is so successful probably precludes us from ever getting another Infamous, unless another studio makes it.
Yeah, this whole "1080p/1440p console" vs "4K console," as if they are two separate categories, is complete nonsense. Even if you have a 1080p machine, XSX will be way better. The fact that XSS plays old games worse than X One X should tip people off to this.
Lol why not just focus on a female character? Zelda is the obvious option, but Mipha could be an option as well.
Yeah BB got bogged down because the site was so jacked up. I doubt supply would have lasted if they hadn't been so slowed down. I'm just thinking if amazon was working smoothly, they must have had a pretty good supply to last thirty minutes.
30 minutes seems like a long time, lol.
@darthv72
As dirty as it feels to push the upvote button on one of your comments, I have to give it it you on that one lol.
Remember how people assured us this wouldn't be a problem?
