I'm not sure resolution is the only way the graphics will be limited compared to Series X; probably other effects too. But yeah in terms of gameplay features, etc there will be no difference.
A $350 PS5 Digital would be huge, and would seriously hamper MS's move with the Series S. However, I'm not sure I see it happening. $400 just seems more likely.
Uhh because if PS5 digital is priced as the cheaper version of the console, as rumors/common sense indicate that it will be, they will be direct competitors. You can't play the "Xbox Series S is a compelling alternative to PS5 because it's so much cheaper and has essentially the same processing power" card and then turn around and say it shouldn't be compared to PS5 when anyone points out the advantages the PS5 has.
No way. That's like PS Vita memory card prices level bad news. I can't imagine it being much more than $100.
Yes. My point is not that I was some sort of prophet. My point is that it was pretty obvious and they should have announced it a long time ago.
Although it's nice to finally silence the idiots who were saying Series X was going to be 399, which made no sense in light of Series S.
Exactly what I've been predicting for months.
@rainslacker
You nailed it. I remember being in a blockbuster once in the mid 2000s when a guy who had rented a blu-ray version of a movie was mad at the cashier because it wouldn't work in his DVD player. He just kept arguing with him about why it wouldn't work after the cashier explained it and offered to exchange it for a DVD.
Seriously. A short term solution has caused another long term problem.
Nintendo took the Wii U on Jimmy Fallon and he thought it was an add on for the Wii.
People doing the "oh it's so easy and obvious" dance need to realize that it's not people who come to these sites who will have a problem. We've known about this console for a year prior to its announcement. The issue is casuals. It's sometimes unbelievable what they can manage to confuse.
If you don't believe me, recall that Nintendo took the Wii U on Jimmy Fallon's show before launch, and he thought it was an add on for the Wii.
@darthv72
When you are buying a car, you aren't worried that if you buy the wrong model, it won't be accepted on the roads within a year and a half. In contrast, if a parent buying a console for their kid gets the wrong thing, they won't be able to play new games once cross-gen games end.
That's why services like Spotify added a download option, right?
Because spending hundreds of millions on a steaming service that everyone hates was clearly a better idea. And yes I know PSNow is good for PS4 games because you can download them, but I'm talking about for PS3 games.
Honestly, I think a lot of gamers are I'll-equipped to express the opinion that a game is objectively very good, even if there are certain creative choices they disagree with.
Fortunately, this is a case where their action in finishing the game is far more informative than their incoherent opinions.
It seems fitting that "YouTubers," and those who parrot their opinions on here, are the group that's so vocal in their hate for such a great game.
Well some people only like to play games that are exactly like another game they've already played.
Lol the funny thing is that Xbox is saddled with this naming mess all because MS wanted to avoid it being PS3 vs Xbox 2. 360 was a good name, but they obviously couldn't move to 720 because people would have associated it with 720p.
@CrazyCoconuts
I mean, I think if it's $200-300 cheaper than Series X/Standard PS5, a lot of people will buy it regardless of what tv they have at home (although the rumored absence of a disc drive will turn off many casuals who still buy their 1-3 games each year on disc, as well as the more hardcore people who are enthusiastic about physical media).
Honestly, as a PlayStation first guy, if I get an Xbox it will probably be Series S (they'll need to have b...
People are insisting that a lesser GPU won't affect game design because the Series S will still have the same CPU and SSD. So the idea is that the only things that will take a hit will be resolution and graphical fidelity, but not any gameplay elements. This rationale required a significant amount of backtracking from people who had previously been pinning the quality of a next-gen experience to the number of teraflops, but it at least makes some sense.
Please mention this as often as possible. It's insane how often this past gen I saw people continue to argue that they buy discs to save HDD space, when in fact the install size is the same.
