Maybe this will find a niche with the homebrew crowd, but as a mainstream consumer device, I can't see it having much success.
A pointless device has now become an expensive pointless device.
Wow! A F2P game making money from micro transactions!! Whatever next!!
People have the option of buying cartel coins, or if you're a subscriber then save up. If a complete character makeover is 1500 cartel coins - that's 3 months of saving up the 'FREE' coins given every month.
None of these cosmetic changes are required to win the game Are people really going to leave because they are being charged to change eye colour!

Yeah, it's interesting to see what crap they've come out with this month. Especially as its free.
Edge lost relevance years ago. I used to subscribe to the magazine, and respect their hard but fair scoring. I didn't always agree with it, but at least they justified why and made for interesting reading.
But at some point a few years ago they started disappearing up their own backsides, possibly in an effort to try and be viewed as a more serious, high brow, publication.
It just seemed like pretentious wankery to me, so I dropped my sub. Their review...
Panopticon sounds like a cool Transformer :)
Interesting post you wrote. Considering how often news now relies on smartphone video clips, how major cities have ridiculous numbers of surveillance cameras, how Governments are trying (succeeding) to erode peoples right to privacy, it's certainly true that we are all being monitored somehow in some way already.
There's a cool game in there somewhere... Isn't it called Watch Dogs! :)

And yet shares are at a 5 month high...
Yeah, those investors and shareholders are really abandoning ship like CRAZY!! /s
What this is telling us is that Sony's plans to reshape the company are working. They made a tiny profit, that was almost exclusively generated from the sale of buildings they don't need - and yet their share price is going UP. Confidence is rising in Sony.
That is an interesting part of the statement.
But I can see it two ways...
1. If a console doesn't get enough 1st party support it can impact hardware sales and therefore 3rd party titles don't sell as the install base it too small
2. If a console has loads of 1st party support then Activision are up against titles that are (usually) of much higher quality, so it can also hurt their sales.
In some ways, as the XBox ha...
I really enjoyed the game and think it was a brilliant reboot. It will be interesting to see where it goes next.
It was one of those games that was greater than the sum of its parts. It didn't have the best graphics, story or boss battles. The enemy all had the same AI. Some of the voice acting was shoddy and Lara's friends were a horribly clichéd bunch - but it was still awesome from start to finish.
What! Galaxies was awesome! It did have huge flaws, no doubt about that - but the sense of being immersed in the Star Wars universe, creating a unique character, being part of a varied community, and the fun of going off exploring, was unparalleled.
The crafting and resource gathering systems have never been bettered. The fact that a player could dedicate enough time to crafting weapons that players would actively seek them out on the server to craft something with better s...
I think the key thing here is the word 'major'. That implies that they will take some loss, but not significant amounts like they did with the PS3.
Otherwise they would have said 'hardware profitable from Day 1', or 'No loss on launch hardware'.
Really impressed with Sony's approach to PS4. Everything looks very good so far.
I had a look at the F2P version, and quickly upgraded to a subscription once I hit Level 10.
The game is really nice - not as nice as the pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies - but well worth a few months subscription.
The definition of Panopticon is...
"A circular prison with cells arranged around a central well, from which prisoners could at all times be observed"
Interesting...
EDIT: Here's a massive (and likely wrong) circumstantial leap...
The Panopticon was a type of building designed in the late 18th century...There's been speculation that the recent character models seen in the background of an interview with Naughty Dog sh...
Good effort. How many controllers did you break in the process!! :)
If EA have the freedom to create what they like rather than running everything past Disney, this could be a good move.
Podracing game from Criterion (as long as it has nothing to do with Episode 1!)
Battlefront 3 from DICE
Star Wars RPG from Bioware
Republic Commando 2 from Crytek or Starbreeze
X-Wing vs TIE Fighter reboot from, hmm, not sure which EA team or partner would be best for this.
Hopefully someone saved the 1313 code...
"I've been playing games for 80% of my life now."
Got ya beat, been gaming for 86.4% of my life... as a conservative estimate. Therefore my opinion holds more weight than yours, and I say consoles will be fine for a good few generations yet.
@indubitably
Exactly... Nintendo knew the talent was leaving Rare when they offloaded the team to MS. There was no other reason to get rid of them.
Ninty must have laughed all the way to the bank. Easiest 50million they ever made.
Step 1 Look at the game library for each machine.
Step 2. Look at whether there's any titles coming that you really want
Step 3. Buy the device that has the greater number
Step 4. Create an N4G account
Step 5. Troll posts about the 'other' console to validate your purchase
Looks like it could add a lot of immersion, but for me I think I'd have to pass. I don't have a room that would work well with the tech, and I don't want to have to put a projector in the middle of the room, or mounted on the ceiling.
Will be interesting to see the cost if MS really are looking to add it to the Next Xbox. it seems to fly in the face of the rumours that MS are trying to keep the costs down.
There's some interesting questions ...
Why is GT6 skipping PS4 launch?
1. Low install base... Why launch one of the biggest selling IP in gaming history when the install base is going to be low
2. Driveclub - it needs time to embed itself in the Sony range of IP. Even if people knew GT6 on PS4 was launching in 2014 they may skip Driveclub
3. Sony still supports PS3. As others have said, an E3 announcement of a PS3 price drop + GT6 = HUGE sales
