Can't wait for this game. Grid was awesome. Just the right balance of heavy arcade and light sim for me.

As soon as I heard this game was going to have micro-transactions I knew it would just frustrate and annoy.

To get one the best cars in the game 'free' would require hundreds and hundreds of hours of play (it costs 800 gold). Gold is given out rarely and only in tiny amounts. To buy the car outright using an IAP it costs... wait for it.... nearly £70 / $100

And that's just one. There are others for 400Gold.

It is unjustifi...

I think we'd need to look at Uncharted 1 sales vs Last of Us, and then adjust for the larger install base now to really compare the two.

I think the game will be a success, but not sure it will outsell Uncharted 2 or 3 as it is a new IP. Although it also depends on how hard Sony market it. Uncharted 3 got a lot of TV adverts in the UK.

Sony does not need to compete with Kinect - but they do need an upgraded PS Eye.

The resolution was too low on the current camera, and it didn't do so well in low light. This made playing stuff like The Eye of Judgement tricky at times.

I anticipate at least a bump to a single 720p camera, or maybe dual 720p cameras, and that it will retain the mic.

I didn't buy the Rock Band or Guitar Hero sets on launch - and regretted it once they went out of production.

I scoured ebay for over a year until I found a Guitar Hero set going for cheap (£30 inc postage!) It's near enough perfect condition...

Considering Harmonix is still selling DLC, I would like to think that they would do a limited edition Rock Band run every year, or at the last have an agreement with a third party to continue to sell bran...

@rdgneoz3

They didn't have to buy DNF - no one made them

They didn't have to release it in the state it was.

They could have spent another 10 years rebuilding the game from scratch, but they chose to give it a quick polish and then cash in on the Duke name.

I'm not sure of Gearbox got the rights to produce future Duke Nukem games, but if they did it was worth the money. However, it seems for every AAA title Gearb...

Gearbox really need to review who they outsource to.

Borderlands 2 DLC has been underwhelming... and was all outsourced.

Now we find that Aliens is also outsourced. I find this a bit sneaky by Gearbox - as they never mentioned in all the interviews etc that it was mainly being developed by another company. All the hype has been based off this a) being Aliens, and b) being by a dev who has produced some quality titles

I did wonder how Gearbo...

Pretty generic list.

Some gems on there but misses out many many of the games that work fantastically well on iPad... Such as board games. I also didn't see The Room on that list which is one of the best games I've played recently.

That's probably a really good point.

It would be odd for Sony to go to all this effort for something else... but who knows. I certainly wouldn't be shocked id we're all left thinking WTF!

I would say that it's likely Sony are announcing the PS4 early because they need the breathing space at E3 for all their platforms.

Imagine trying to fit a PS4 announcement and all it's features, plus a focus on games, plus all the latest PS3 stuff, plus PS Vita, and maybe even some PSP talk... all crammed in to a 2-3 hour E3 show.

It makes total sense to announce the PS4 now, and then focus on the PS4 games and other platforms at E3.

I preferred the setting and story from the 1st. It felt more immersive, and the story was intriguing. Obviously from a technical point of view it was much rougher than ACIII, but I could live with that (even on PS3!).

I really disliked ACIII. It no longer felt like an Assassins Creed game. I found it boring. I didn't feel like an assassin. I didn't care about the characters. I would take ACI and II over III any day.

No, a cover system would not have benefited the game... what would have benefited the game was developers who didn't make the game progressively worse with each launch.

Big deal... micro-transactions! Oh noes the world is ending!

If people want to to pay to unlock stuff then good for them. It's a choice - and choice is good.

There's a lot of people who don't want to jump through hoops to unlock stuff, and others just want to have fun with the best weapons etc as quickly as possible.

As long as the micro-transaction stuff can also be unlocked for free within the game then I don't care. It wi...

Really nice game. But the free to play model kills it for me.

If the dev added an IAP to 'unlock' the game (i.e. remove need for the gem things to speed up building, and made the build time sensible) I'd snap it up. I'd pay the same for this unlock as for Minecraft on iOS... £4.99

As it stands I have paid zero in to this game and it's become a chore to craft anything without spending money.

This gen has seen the greatest number of studios going under since the industry formed.

If hardware specs keep increasing, development costs will also increase... and more devs will go under.

I think there's lots of reasons, but the two main ones are...

In the old days games were challeneges. They had to engage the player in some way - and as graphics were so poor the game play or challenege had to be there.

Now, with game budgets at multi million dollars, the emphasis has changed from being a challenge to being an 'experience'. I doubt many devs would survive long if they spent millions making a AAA game that was so challenging peop...

Probably because the DLC is not made by Gearbox. They farmed the DLC out to two other developers.

I wouldn't say it's been bad - It just could have been so much better. Although I will wait for Hammerlocks DLC to go on sale on PSN sometime in the future.

In the eyes of fanboys of course their console of choice will be more powerful... specifications be damned!

I heard this too, must be true then

Interesting.

$400 sounds sensible, although I assume it'll be a 1:1 conversion from USD to GBP / Euro.

The WiiU Premium with one game is currently £335 on the high street which is about $540
