Yes, the 15 exclusives, 8 of which are new IP was possibly great news.

The reason I think people are glossing over that news is because it was so vague...

MS presented a TV box. They focused on Kinect 2. They made a cursory nod to Forza. We know they lack AAA 1st party studios.

Take all that in to account and at the moment there's no reason to get excited by that news.

For me, I also need to throw in that the launch of...

It's the same tired argument that they use to justify draconian DRM to reduce piracy.

They seem to think that every single person who pirates a game would have bought it full price if piracy was eliminated. That's ridiculous short sighted thinking.

Manufacturers and publishers will do everything they can to maximise profits - even at the expense of the customer. And they won't learn until people make a stand and vote with their wallets. if cont...

Slightly off topic...

I do really like MS integrating rumble directly in to the triggers.

I was hoping both MS and Sony would add haptic feedback to their controllers (e.g. the sticks / buttons / triggers providing variable resistance and feedback depending on circumstances in the game), but I guess battery life and component weight isn't there yet.

I like the idea of different weapons having triggers with different weights - like a hair ...

I think the important thing here is whether the publishers then pass on some of that to the devs...

I suspect each dev will have it's own agreement with the publisher - but I'd hate to think no money was going back to the people who actually made the game.

If I'm not mistaken, this form of DRM is part of the Blu-Ray standard.

Because of this, there were rumours when the PS3 launched that they would block used games - but it never happened because Sony chose not to enable that feature in the hardware.

What I'm getting at is that if Sony decide that it's not the right time to implement this type of DRM, then they don't have to. They may have decided to wait until we go all digital in the next gen...

From MS and the Publishers point of view this is a huge win!

For retailers, I'd imagine they are less enthusiastic about it.

For the end user.. it will be either no change form what we're used to, or us getting screwed by this £35 figure if it is true.

However, IF retailers are getting a smaller cut then they have no reason to discount used games by much from new prices. In fact if their margin on new titles is greater than used...

Oh yeah, I can see a lot of potential in Kinect 2 - the heart rate monitoring (even though it's fairly inaccurate) would be massive in survival horror or in stealth games to monitor stress levels and adapt the experience based on that feedback.

But I could also see potential in the original Kinect... And what did we get!? Shovelware after shovelware.

Again, it all comes down to trust. Do I trust that MS are going to release a continual stream of good ga...

That's not strictly true. There's some awesome core titles on iOS these days, but I'm not going to trade in my console any time soon. iOS games are a nice compliment to console gaming.

I'd suggest trying out Eclipse, Call of Cthulu, the Final Fantasy re-releases, Ascension, Nightfall, Bards Tale, Warhammer Quest (when it launches next week). Ace Patrol. Even XCom is getting a full release on iPad.

This is the best news I've heard about XBone. But I just don't trust MS.

I have a feeling a lot of the money will be invested in Kinect games and other casual stuff I don't want to play.

Also, the 360's launch was very well supported - and up to 2007 it had a phenomenal line up of games. But after 2008/9 I completely lost interest in the console as it failed again and again to deliver the games I wanted to play.

In the same way that Sony fanboys seem to think that MS has forgotten about games...

XBox fanboys seem to have forgotten that the PS4 is likely to be a very capable media box too.

Err, the article you're commenting on states that Sony's tools are better at the moment.

And since when was this the OS wars...Seems people are really reaching... B-b-b-but my XBone has THREE OS's, so it must be teh winz!!

Maybe PS4 games won't need 8GB today - but in a couple of years devs will be more than happy they have 8GB to play with as they learn the hardware.

Also as it's unusual to have the faster GDDR servicing CPU and GPU we don't know how devs will utilise it. They may use more for caching etc.

It was the same with BluRay. Games didn't initially need all that space - but devs soon started adding uncompressed audio, and using the space to speed up ...

It's difficult and kinda pointless to compare.

In most cases 4GB is fine for PC gaming. But that's probably more to do with the fact that publishers want games that are playable for the largest number of gamers.

If you check out the Steam hardware stats they collect, it shows about 24% of gamers have 8GB and 69% have less than 8GB. So it makes sense to aim for less than 8GB.

PS4 / XBOne devs don't have this limitation. They kn...

I think MS are more than happy to let the misinformation spread that the 'Cloud' is going to somehow magically turbo charge games on the XBOne.

Even if MS can offload some processing to the cloud, it's highly dependant on the individual users internet bandwidth, and ensuring the right info is processed and returned to the player in time.

I don't think we'll be in a position where Gamer A with a 100Mbit connection is going to see a game tha...

I think most people are assuming that those exclusives will be heavily weighted towards casuals and / or Kinect 2. Add in that 4 of those exclusives will likely also be the usual XBox fallbacks (Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable) they've been relying on for years and I see (at the moment) very little to get excited about.

The question I've not seen asked is... What does the XBox One mean for consumers outside the US?

Most of the TV stuff, especially the stuff focused on sports is very US-centric.

MS should definitely be proud of the market share they have gained.

And even more so that they are profitable almost every Quarter too (if you ignore the 5 billion hole from the original Xbox and 360 R&D and launches, and the 1 billion from Warranty write off)!

I don't think this takes hype away from MS - it just ensures the PS4 is still at the forefront of people's minds.

If MS don't show the Next Xbox hardware design tomorrow - or show a rendering or something, then I think Sony will grab a few column inches from MS based on this video still being fresh in journalists minds. It's a smart move by Sony.

If Sony decide to go for the throat, then maybe they will launch another teaser tomorrow showing ...

I don't really care about the hardware, I assume it'll be in the same ballpark as PS4.

I'm not interested in services.. I can get Netflix, Facebook and all that other junk from my tablet, TV or PC.

What I am interested in is the games. MS have a big hill to climb to win me over.

Fingers crossed they deliver tomorrow and at E3.
