I feel the PS4 is not getting enough knee jerk over-reactions like some of its competitors...

Success is very relative. How did ZombiU do against other launch titles I wonder?

The install base for the WiiU was tiny when the game launched, so it's not surprising it sold poorly.

Shame if there's never a sequel - it was the only game that looked interesting on WiiU to me.

Sounds like this game should fill a gap between Grid and Gran Turismo series. That's fantastic.

The problem is that WoW became the template for success - and every other MMO company just pasted a new theme on to similar mechanics.

No one has done anything new or innovative in the genre for years.

So to compensate, company's have tried different business models. The problem with Free to Play is that usually it means pay to win or be bored to death grinding to unlock basic stuff. Micro transactions are still seen as a money suck. The subscription mo...

That's cool insomnium2. I have a blast on a lot of old games. Just FFVII doesn't do it for me any more. Although I do think the Materia system was awesome.

I think I prefer both VIII and X these days for 3D FF's. The old 2D titles were probably the best though.

Have fun beating the Ruby and Emerald Weapon super bosses!! :)

Entitled whining at its best!

The lack of dismemberments is a minor thing and I suspect it was because it is easier, cheaper and quicker to create a single EU version of the game than have a specific version just for Germany.

If you're really that upset about not having extra dismemberment, then I think you've got more to worry about than video games.

@Septic

I absolutely agree. The problem isn't the console, it's the message MS have given.

Nuts is a sensationalist magazine, so they are using an extreme comparison. It may not be fair, but when have we ever seen credible journalistic integrity in the industry!

4731d ago 14 agree6 disagreeView comment

You're not deluded, it's your opinion, which is fair enough.

At the moment the XBO looks like it has quantity, but the PS4 has quality. I believe MS said they had 18 exclusives for year 1 and Sony said they had 20 - so there's a lot of missing information right now from both sides.

Sony have Gamescom and TGS to flesh out their launch line up - and I don't think MS are attending either of those events.

variety is always a good ...

I think what they are getting at is that Sony have sent some clear messages, but MS have not and it's making them look meek and apologetic.

Sony have made their aims clear:
1. We have made a games console
2. We have the best 1st party devs in the world
3. We embrace all developers, and in particular Indie devs
4. We are the champion of all gamers, and will defend the hardcore

In comparison MS can't seem to send out a cl...

Yeah, seems like they are drip feeding news. Gamescom and TGS should be very interesting.

I can only imagine what Naughty Dog are going to reveal.

I must have put in hundreds of hours in to FFVII, but I really can't understand the desire for a remake.

The game was revolutionary because of the CD format, and I played it to death because it was unlike anything we'd seen before at that time. But even back then the characters felt stereotypical, and the story was a bit of a mess.

When I have tried to play it again since, it's just not been worth the effort. Even if SE sorted out the checkpoint...

To be honest. Although I am a fan of PlayStation I really thought they would implement DRM. It seemed that the industry was being lead by the publishers - and we know they want to maximise profits.

It's nice to know that (for whatever reason) Sony decided to push against the weight of the industry.

There are certainly parallels between the energy the PS1 created and what we are seeing for the PS4.

Go back to E3 1995 and Sega announced the Saturn at $399. Sony walked out and announced the PS1 for $299 - boom, that was the beginning of the end for the Saturn.

Sony was also very developer focused when they launched the PS1. Mainly because they were the new kid in the industry and needed the support. They have definitely won over the indie developers wit...

Capcom have lost their way a bit. They've focused too much on 'westernising' their games and monetising everything. It's all been focused on improving their profitability

A back to basics approach would do them good as I don't think they realise just how much love is out there for their older IP's.

Whilst I'm not a fan of DRM, I use Steam a lot so I know that if done right it can be OK. The DRM was the only real differentiator it had over Sony. Now that's gone the XBO is a pointless console.

I'll stick with PS4, PC and maybe a WiiU if they start launching games I want to play.

First off, I am buying a PS4, and am not (yet) planning to buy an XBOne.

But let's be clear here. No large company can be trusted. Have people already forgotten about the CD rootkit craziness that Sony instigated.

I think PS4 will launch first in EU and US, maybe by only a couple of weeks though.

MS may hit more territories earlier, as Sony seem to be already worried about fulfilling demand.

I get the feeling MS is desperate to launch first, but just are not ready. Especially with a significant leadership change happening.

EDIT: And it's pretty stunning that Sony are launching in Japan after EU / US. Just shows how Japan has slipped as a gaming s...

Step up Phil Harrison...

There's only two ways this could have gone...

1. Mattrick was leaving long before the XBOne debacle. Senior people normally have to give significant notice periods. Easily 6 months.

2. Mattrick got the boot, but was allowed a tactical withdrawal, and got the Zynga job - but that would still take some time. CEO's are not recruited overnight so I would imagine he knew he was going before E3.

If that were true the Wii would have sold about 10 units.

How many clarifications are MS going to issue before they release the damn console!!
