I get the feeling Sony wanted to give DriveCLub its moment in the limelight and establish itself as a new IP.
Releasing GT6 as a PS4 launch title would definitely of impacted DriveClub sales.
Shame that 'rich media UI' is next to useless outside of the US for live TV. Also a shame that it reduces the audio experience from the TV box by down-mixing surround sound to stereo. Not great that they didn't seem to properly account for the 50Hz refresh rate in some territories. And I guess everyone loves to pay for a Gold subscription just to allow them access to the Netflix subscription they already pay for,
Yeah, that's a rich media experience.

2007 and 8 were brutal on N4G if you were a Sony fan. every other article was 'PS3 is doomed' Although I recall one Sony fanboy called Nasim, who seemed worryingly attached to the PS3 and went toe to toe with the Xbox nutters.
All the hatred you see Sony fanboys shouting at Xbox fans today... just reverse it and you will know exactly what it was like back then. The only difference now is that the PC fans have had their basement doors rattled and have come out in fo...
The data points used in these articles are flawed.
The game released on the 6th Dec in the UK, so the sample data is tiny.
GT6 is available digitally as well, and those numbers are not included in these figures. GT5 was not available digitally, and I believe also came bundled with the PS3 in Europe. I've not seen a GT6 bundle.
The PS4 release will not have had much impact. God of War 2 sold well when it launched a couple of weeks befor...
I'd say a large amount of the venom spewed at the XB1 is because in the PS3 vs 360 era we saw articles on DF and many other sites where any variations in quality - no matter how tiny - were blown out of all proportion by 360 fans.
For example... Apparently according to 360 fanboys Assassins Creed 1 was unplayable on the PS3 because of the framerate and tearing issues.
Apparently less foliage in Red Dead Redemption and a few other games made them far infer...
I would imagine both Sony and MS had a look at the market and decided BC was not something they needed to do.
- It adds costs to incorporate BC
- How many people trade in vs keep their old console. Anecdotally I think a lot of people keep their old one and if Sony /. MS have seen the same trend then that's a compelling reason to leave it out.
- They have seen that HD remakes sell well and don't cost a lot to produce
- They have other plans (su...
Indie titles may not have the best graphics, sound etc as you suggest - but often what Indie games do have is innovative, fun and risky game play.
Because there are not millions of dollars of investment riding on these smaller titles they can take bigger risks. They are not restricted by market demographics and business decisions which often drives AAA game development.
Many of the Indie developers of today are the future big budget developers of tomorrow. ...
The XB1 looks like a decent console and I hope to pick one up in the future - but at the moment there are too many caveats to make me to even consider buying one.
The non-gaming functionality is far too US-centric. Until it can provide compelling functionality for UK and remove some of the gimped decisions (such as reducing the surround sound audio output from a set top box to stereo) it's not a unique selling point.
MS also need to earn my trust again a...
I've not played Forza 5, so cannot comment on the microtransactions there.
But as I have played earlier versions and enjoyed the 'RPG-ish' type of unlocking new cars, my question would be... Is the new model better or worse than before?
If a game is free to play or extremely low cost then I have no problem with micro-transactions. Team Fortress 2 is a great example.
If a game is full price and has 100% optional micro-transactions, then I am Ok with that, within reason. (For example, I don't mind the boosts and unlocks EA offer in many games, as some people genuinely do not have time for it, or are not good enough to unlock end game stuff - those unlocks etc do not impact my experience at all)

Yeah, I'm also wondering how they will handle multiple folders / tiles on the main screen. I really don't want to be scrolling for miles!
I have a feeling DLNA won't be coming to PS4. Sony would much rather a person sign up to their video / music services than stream their own content. I stopped using my PS3 as a streaming box a long time ago, so not a feature that I'd like - but for those that want it, it does suck.
Yes, I believe it does support HTML5, but not seen any test results yet or tried it myself.
I was just suggesting that if Sony have capacity to develop the browser I'd rather see them put effort it put in to newer tech like HTML5 than a dinosaur like Flash.
Also, it appears the PS4 browser is pretty speedy too. http://www.thesixthaxis....
Flash is on the way out, or at least should be. It's getting less and less relevant to the modern internet experience and instead of campaigning Sony add it, I'd suggest people campaign their favourite Flash based sites to update to better technologies.
I would much rather Sony concentrate on HTML5 support rather than Flash.
I always liked, but never loved Halo. But Halo mixed with Bordlerands very much appeals.
Am cautiously looking forward to this game.
Yeah, that's what holds me back. At the moment basic PS4 bundles are making around £80 above RRP on eBay - but that's before the eBay fees are deducted... So it's not worth it.
It definitely won't be worth it if Sony manages to get new stock in before Xmas to some retailers.
@JasonKCK
Where are these hidden MANDATORY fees that make console gaming so expensive?
PSN - optional
DLC - optional
Buying games full price - optional
Micro-transactions - optional
Upgrading hard drive - optional
And so on....
For the PC I could just as easily talk about...
1440+ resolution monitor (surely you snobs are not gaming at the lowly resolution of 1080!!).
Additional deskto...
Already got my PS4, but tempted to get this bundle but keep the controller and PS Vita, and then sell the rest on eBay....
Does anyone know if this game is going to support force feedback wheels? Specifically the Logitech G27?
@decrypt
Can I walk in to a store, buy a PS4, plug it in and play games? Yes, so most of those 'hidden' costs are moot.
Also, as a PC gamer myself I can safely say that graphically Killzone stands toe to toe or exceeds the games I have been playing recently. Crysis 2, Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light. I've been playing all these at 1080p on an i7 4770K with a Nvidia GTX 670 - max settings. The way some PC gamers talk it's as if the PS4 / XB1 ...
I agree with ravinash and WeAreLegion
The Move controllers could augment the Oculus to create much more immersive and true virtual reality experiences in some circumstances.
Using 3D controllers, like Move, in conjunction with a 2D screen shows the limitations of the technology and in most cases makes them pointless. Using 3D controllers with a headset designed to create a 3D experience is much more realistic and sensible (in some cases).
