Yeah, those figures of 3 or 5:1 were always going to be pretty bogus in UK and US.
1.5:1 sounds very realistic. I'm sure it could have been a bit higher if the PS4 was not supply constrained.
No, the ratio is for every 3 PS4's sold, 2 XB1's are also sold. 1.5:1 = 3:2
This is a statement directly from Sony. Why spin it to 3:1? Also if Sony were doubling the XB1 as you claim, the ratio would be 2:1 anyway
Assuming the ratio stays the same that would give Sony a 1million unit lead when they hit 3million in the UK. A 2million lead when they hit 6million and so on.
The ratio sounds realistic to me. UK was a fortress for 360 ...
Yes please. I'd like some more Heavenly Sword. A hugely underrated game I think.
The addition of Andy Serkis was brilliant. His creative direction was pretty epic in places, and the characters he played were extremely good.
It was just about the only game to make good use of the DS3 motion controls. The level on the bridge (iirc) defending the guy escaping, while guiding arrows was very intense.
Sure it had some rough edges, but overa...
No!
If MS really want a 360 version, give it to a different team. Let Black Tusk focus 100% on an XB1 version.
It's a good point mhunterjr
It also raises another... About why developers either sell themselves to or enter publishing deals with a company like EA when it seems clear they are so profit orientated (possibly just answered my own point there, but anyway...).
It has to be for money, or a belief that 'we'll be different from the rest and EA won't change us'.
If it's for the money then I don't see that those devs sho...
Maybe he meant cash. I believe Ninty have more money in the bank than Sony at the moment.
On topic.
Combined there's more iPhones and iPads and AppleTV's out there in the world than Nintendo devices. Although Android is far more fragmented, if you throw in those devices too it's a huge number.
Considering the demographic Ninty have gone for it seems perfectly feasible they will publish for other platforms at some point... The on...
Should be interesting...
Not LoL related... But I was recently playing a Smite arena match. It was only my second game with real people rather than the AI tutorials.
Part way through the match one of my 'team-mates' put in chat "ARTEMIS YOU NOOB, JUST UNINSTALL SMITE, YOU SUCK"
Made me lol, as yes I do indeed suck, and yes I am a complete noob. So much for team work.
(In my defence at the end of the match ...
Of course people can change their mind. I have no issue with that, nor do I care.
I just find it mildly amusing that so many vilify EA for being a horrible and evil company and claim they will never buy another game from them again... Until a game they really want comes along.
EA appear to have done nothing to change their habits or practises to stop them being voted yet again as one of the worst company's in the US. But somehow many people forgive (o...
I am probably being dumb here... But if EA has an attach rate of 2.1 to 2.6 for next-gen consoles who the hell were buying all the games!?
I thought they launched with:
FIFA 14
Need for Speed Rivals.
Battlefield 4
NBA Live 14
Madden 25
How many am I missing?
Assuming a fair few people (like myself) bought zero EA games; that would mean someone else would have to have bought all five to get an attach rat...
It's the hypocrisy of the fanboy...
They change allegiance probably without even realising it.
How many times have we heard "I'm never buying an EA game again"... I'll bet some of them will be playing Titanfall
Or how often we heard about EA making Devs release buggy games with awful server support, like BF4... But apparently Titanfall is going to be slick and perfect
Maybe the amount of times we've ...
Yeah, a Suckerpunch would hurt. Lucky they are 1st party; if they went multi plat or MS exclusive they'd have to slink away like a naughty dog.
There's some interesting / concerning statements in what they have said:
"Jorgensen continued by explaining that the decision to go exclusive was made “a few years ago,”
But there seemed to be genuine shock from Respawn when the news broke. So if this was decided years ago, why was the developer never told
"The decision of going exclusive has been defined as “economically neutral”"
That's saying that the ...
I hope this is a return to form for Insomniac. One of my fave developers, and Ratchet is one of my top game series - but their output quality has dropped off a lot.
I was kinda surprised they went exclusive with this title, especially on XB1. I thought the whole point of them moving out from under Sony's wing was to showcase their games to a wider audience.
I guess the hard fail of Fuse depleted the bank account. I'm sure MS was happy to write a ch...
It was an average year.
Not the greatest, not the worst.
I was generally disappointed in the AAA's, but the Indies and hidden gems made up for it.
I agree with you WildArmed... And will continue to agree with you until the very second Santa Monica show off the first mind blowing God of War visuals and game play on PS4... Then I'll disagree about any need for a break, and claim you were crazy for suggesting it :)
I wonder if any of the guys Blizz laid off recently have found their way to Santa Monica!
Excuse me guys, but your respect for each others opinions is freaking me out. Lets not forget this is N4G! :)
On topic.... I've not seen a film by Rainmaker, but from the Escape from Planet Earth trailer I can see why they got the Ratchet gig. Jak & Daxter is one of my favourite game series, so I'm not sure I'd want to see it made in to a film. Would much rather ND made a new game for PS4 - that would be cinematic enough for me.
It's a fallacy that the XB1 can not do 1080p @60fps in every game.
Developers have to make a choice... Lower resolution and / or frame rate - or lower graphical detail / effects etc.
If a developer can provide 99% of the bells and whistles (lighting, physics, textures, animations, AI etc etc) but lower resolution to do that, then they will because it's easier / cheaper / quicker... and that's what they are doing on the XB1
If they...
MS made this change because it makes sense to do so. Whether it was developer pressure, consumer pressure, or someone in the XBox division kicking some backsides that made it happen... It doesn't matter.
Over the course of both the PS4 and XB1's life cycle, performance gains will be found by optimising drivers, the OS (multiple in MS's case), API's and all those other restrictive things that developers have to work around. The PS3 originally had a ridiculous...
@come_bon
There's a lot of factors here...
The UK was a huge 360 market, so no surprise the XB1 is doing well
The figures of 3:1 and 5:1 were always going to be BS. And anyone who believed them was a moron. Did people honestly think that when Sony said they did over 1million in 24 hours that the XB1 would only have done 200,000. Or to put it another way - if Sony could sell 5million, the XB1 would only have done 1million
