Yeah, I had the same thought.

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes before there's ample supply.

I recall it took around 10-12 weeks for the 360 to start meeting demand (although these figures were lower than the PS4 / XB1).

We're now 8 weeks past the launch of the PS4, with little sign of demand slowing, and the Japan launch looming.

@ Serg.

Good comment

There is some dispute over the term athlete though.

If you take the original Latin or Greek meaning it is basically 'prize' or 'compete for a prize' or 'contestant in the games'. In which case Athlete is perfectly valid for these guys.

However, the vast majority of credible dictionary definitions explicitly state physical exertion - so it is arguable if moving a mouse truly meet...

That's an interesting statement by this analyst.

If Sony did 1 million in 24 hours just in the US, and MS did 1million worldwide in 24 hours - then it's a safe to say that Sony would be quite a long way ahead in the US at that point

So if the lead in the US is now only small, that would mean the X1 has been outselling the PS4 ever since those initial figures were announced.

We know the PS4 is supply constrained - but is it really cons...

Hmm, well that sounds like a slip from the original Q1 expected launch, so hopefully manufacturers will manage to hit Q2.

I did see that Scan in the UK have managed to work with Nvidia to engineer G-Sync in to an Asus monitor. But the mark-up was about £200 on top of the normal selling price. I really hope this isn't a sign of the expected mark-up.

I'm holding off upgrading my monitor until I see what G-Sync can really do - but if it turns out ...

@Death
MS' change of heart had nothing to do with customer expectations or respect and everything to do with profit.

Once they saw the pre-order figures and media backlash - they only had one choice.

IF, pre-orders had met expectations and media reports had been muted rather than like a fog horn, we would all be looking at a DRM based XB1

I don't agree with all the points in the article, but I do agree The Last of Us wasn't GOTY.

The story was interesting but cliched. The acting was amazing. But the game play got a bit boring, and the lack of variety in the enemies got dull.

I liked the game a lot (but not as much as Uncharted 2 or Jak and Daxter), but the only things to make it stand out was the graphics and acting. I played to progress the story, not because the combat was particu...

This sounds about as widespread as the 'rubber peeling off DS4 controllers' that the XB1 crowd were going nuts over a few weeks ago.

What goes around, comes around

Hearthstone is definitely NOT Pay to Win. I've been playing for some time, have spent very little real money, and have a decent win record.

There are plenty of decks listed online that are mostly made from basics, and can be devastating.

Here's a few tips:
Do NOT pay 100gold for a deck; instead save to 150 and enter the Arena. You will always get 1 deck as a reward, but you'll get some other loot too, even if you lose 3 in a row. Plus play...

Is Gone Home Overrated?

Yes

Massively overrated.

A good game / experience, but nothing radical or exceptional like some make it out to be.

Sony and MS know exactly how many units have been sold to the retailers, and those are the numbers they report on.

NPD does not include independent shops and some smaller retailers.

VGChartz have never been very accurate in their reporting - and everything they publish must be taken with a pinch of salt as they are just giving their best guess based on limited data points.

Also, the whole argument of sold vs shipped is an utterly pointless ...

100% agree.

Right now the value for money proposition of the XB1 isn't there for me.

When the XB1 hits £350 I'd be tempted to buy one. But unless MS go in to panic mode, I don't see this happening for about 18 - 24 months.

I agree that maybe we would have heard more from Sony if true - but they may just be waiting for a big announcement after the holiday period.

I think the numbers could be fairly close though.

I believe I read that Sony started producing PS4's about 2-3 months before launch.

If you take the 2.1million sold announcement as being all the stock from that initial 2-3 months production - that would mean they can produce in the region of 175k -...

There's nothing wrong with being bored of a new console in the launch window. It happens every generation for a lot of people.

I bought Killzone and got the free games. I still play Resogun now and again, but now that I'm done with KZ the PS4 isn't getting much attention. Most of the other launch titles didn't appeal, and those that did I plan to buy on PC in the Steam Winter sale! :)

But I know awesome things are coming for the PS4, so it&...

I Kickstarted this game, and glad I did. The talent involved gave me confidence this would be an intriguing game. Just hope I get my copy before Xmas.

I'm not sure this game will ever meet the hype and expectations the community now has - but it'll be interesting to see what is delivered. I donated to it as I love the old Wing Commander, Privateer and X-Wing games. If it is even half as good as those, then I'll be happy.

Sony's marketing / adverts have been very mixed, and downright weird in the past - but since the Kevin Butler series they've really turned it around.

For me, the best advert they've ever done was 'To Michael'. That is still my all time favourite, and paved the way for all the following PS4 ads.

If a simple and easy solution cannot be found to these ridiculous copyright claims, YouTube is going to quickly become redundant for game reviews / broadcasting.

If Twitch or UStream can improve their archiving of recorded content then they could easily unseat YouTube as the go-to place for gamers.

Well done Capcom and Blizzard for their quick reaction to this problem.

I have the opposite problem.

Each new iteration of Need For Speed seems like a minor change from the previous one. I don't even remember which order the games were launched. I'm rapidly losing interest.

I love racing games, especially arcade ones, and am a big fan of Criterion. I'll be interested to see what they, and the spin-off studio who made Rivals, do in the future - but at the moment I'm not paying inflated next-gen prices for a game...

Where was I comparing the XB1 to PS4, 3 or 360? Don't assume that just because someone says something negative about the XB1 that they must automatically be a fanboy.

The fact is that for me, the 'rich media experience' is lacking. MS have designed a box that is geared mainly toward cable TV users in the US - and for a lot of people that is not the way they are consuming content especially in parts of Europe.

But those services and features, whi...
