Shame, you missed an enlightening and informative comment.
It's swings and roundabouts.
I was here back when the PS3 launched, and it was overwhelmingly pro-Xbox. Every other article was about the PS3 being doomed. The Xbox fans were incredibly hostile in exactly the same way as the Sony fans are now.
What I've noticed...
- Since the XB1 launched Xbox fans have really started to play the victim.
- When the 360 was winning every 3rd party graphical comparison Xbox fans went nuts, and Sony fan...
The two things I need from MS to make me buy an XB1.
One is confidence in the long term support of the console to deliver the types of games I want to play. It's got off to a good start with the launch releases - but I need to know it's going to continue after year 3 / 4.
The original Xbox failed as it was only supported 4 years. The 360 failed as I didn't buy a single game after 2009... So I'm taking a cautious approach to the XB1.
...
Yeah, I agree with Lukas.
The Assassins Creed games have been a mixed bag. I don't think they've captured the feeling of being a proper Assassin since the first and second games. I thought AC3 was really really poor, and while AC4 is excellent, it really should have been a new Pirate based IP instead of an AC game.
If they do go for Feudal Japan I'd like to see more variety in how my character develops. It would be cool to have the choice at so...
I agree it's unlikely, but if Valve really wanted to push SteamOS, then exclusivity is one way to do it. - I'm still struggling to see what benefit SteamOS and Steam Machines really adds to the world of 'PC' gaming. Just seems like a potential to fragment an area of gaming that has been pretty stable for a long time.
Dual boot may be easy, but it doesn't seem like a good solution or one that anybody would really want, when for the last 10 years Steam / Wi...
If the rumours that some games will be SteamOS exclusive turn out to be true... I'm not sure the PC gaming faithful (who have supported Steam for pretty much 10years) will be that happy!
@fanboybeatdown
I can see where you're coming from, but I'd have to ask, why does it matter that the base PS console doesn't innovate?
One of the things that appealed to me most when I weighed up the XB1 and PS4 was that Sony appeared to have taken everything they've learned about consoles, and the industry since the PS1 and distilled it down in to the PS4.
Then there's stuff like the Share button - it's a simple addit...
I believe the big issue here was that after initially entering the PIN Apple gives people a 15 minute window before the device requires the PIN again.
So parents were entering the PIN for what they thought was a one-off transaction, but the idiot kids were going nuts and buying multiple times over that 15 minutes.
However, I think it's more likely that parents were just giving their PIN to the kids or not actively monitoring them. I know that I always ch...
Congratulations clueless parents; your continued devolution of responsibility for raising your idiot children will now be rewarded.

Indeed. I also suspect that the price drop helped shift it, as I'm sure some people were curious on just how bad it could be.
I saw it for £3 in my local GAME shop yesterday, and was almost tempted.... almost
I'm kinda conflicted about this article.
On one hand I absolutely think people should be more respectful to each other and not hide behind their internet persona; but on the other hand, the % of gamers who actually hate on games is tiny and easily avoided for the most part.
If a game sells well and gets great reviews who cares what the haters say.
Also, people can not expect everyone to love their games. For every person who thinks a par...
Best bet... Wait and see.
I have more hope for this game as I place the vast majority of the blame for Aliens CM on Gearbox, less on Sega, and none on Creative Assembly.
Think about it... Sega actually gave Gearbox 7 years to produce a game. Sure Sega should have managed it much more closely, and it does sound like they interfered at some points. But, by far the biggest reason the game was terrible is because Gearbox didn't give a shit. They outsourced ...
I prefer the monthly sub model, but I don't like having to pay full or high price for the game upfront.
If an MMO publisher tries to sell their game at full price it suggests to me they are not confident in keeping people long term so are maximising short term profit.
You could argue that the upfront cost covers development and allows them to better support the game at the start. But to me an MMO is a long term commitment.
I think FFXIV ...
Exactly. FFXIV A Realm Reborn is proving that.
Healthy populations right now, and SquareEnix have stated demand exceeded expectations.
Whether this will continue long term, who knows. But right now it's the only MMO I am playing and I'm happy to pay a sub.
@SilentNeghotiator.
The GTFO is a bit harsh!... but I'l partially back up Jubez187 with anecdotal evidence.
I've played a lot of MMO games over the years, and of the people I know who also play generally stick to one MMO at a time, and generally play a lot less non-MMO games (if any).
I'm not saying they only play ONE game. Just that those people who are really in to MMO's, tend to go balls deep in to them to the point of exc...
If the battery is running out in one sitting there's a clue you're playing games too much. :)
I have no doubt Sony chose the battery they did for the DS4 based on two things... 1) Research, and 2) Cost
If their data and research says that the average play session is 3-4 hours (for example) then they would use a battery that has the lowest cost that meets that data point.
I've not had any issue with the short battery life. I norma...
Balancement? I guess spell checker missed that one!
Anyhow. On topic....
A lot of the changes sound OK to me, I agree with at least 50%, and I'm sure Blizz has a lot more data than me to figure out what cards need tweaking.
The change to Pyro is a good one and will make Mages more interesting to play. Anything that stops the boring OTK Warrior decks is a good thing.
The change to the Novice means people now consider a c...
"Microsoft wants to cater to the broader audience not just the hardcore" you say?
You mean like Sony has every generation since the day they entered console gaming?
MS seem to come form the school of thought that if you say something enough times people end up believing it. If MS want the XB1 to appeal to the masses, then just launch the games to do it. Actions speak louder than words.
As much as I love Ninty, they need to sort out what's going on now with the WiiU, rather than look to new hardware.
