Are graphics important....
Pick one...
Yes, if you're a 360 owner,for 3rd party games
Yes, if you're a PS3 owner, for 1st party titles
Yes, if you're a PS4 owner 1080p is teh minimumz
No, if you're an XB1 owner, they don't matter at all
PC owner says, HAH, anything less than 4k is for nubz
Art style that supports the game play will always beat graphical fidelity.

You are not completely correct.
I am not suggesting MS are doing this, but there is something in supply chain / logistics called 'stuffing the channel'. I know this as used to work in Logistics for a large company where this occasionally happened.
Stuffing the channel is where a manufacturer will (normally just before announcing financial results) get retailers to take more stock than the retailer knows they can sell. ...
No it shouldn't. Nintendo just need to sort themselves out and rebuild public trust through good, clear, marketing and more quality game releases. The 3DS didn't start well either, but eventually turned around.
It's clear Nintendo got things very wrong, as the announcement of the huge cut in sales forecast demonstrates, but the situation is not lost.
A decent price cut may help, but that's not in Nintendo's nature (they did for the 3DS, ...
Could be a number of reasons.
Maybe they just want to try and capture sales as we come up to the 1st payday of the new year.
Maybe it's because we are coming up to the end of the financial year. If Zavvi overstocked on the XB1 expecting higher demand, they may be looking to offload some of them to help improve the balance sheet. If I recall Zavvi were in a bit of trouble a few years back when they took over Virgin megastores and had to sell them off. I ...
I don't love to hate it, in fact I want to love it... But MS have a lot of work to do to get me to buy.
I could just as easily write an article entitled 'How RTS games almost made me fail my degree'. :)
Damn you Command and Conquer series!!!
Good for them.
I sent the Candy Crush developer a respectful email through their contact page yesterday. Explaining why I thought they sucked, were no better than patent trolls and how I thought they got lucky with a completely unoriginal match 3 game using artwork ripped off from classic sweet manufacturers
I don't think Angry Birds is a fad, purely on the basis that it has already been around far longer than what I consider a 'fad'.
Fads were stealing car badges to wear on necklaces after The Beastie Boys wore VW badges in a video; or wearing bright Shell Suits in the 80's. (Neither of which I did!!)
In maybe two or so generations time we may see a PlayStation 6 or 7 that is no more than an AppleTV style box used only for streaming games... PSNow is the first step in that direction
If I play an RPG, I expect a longer game. If I play an FPS I don't mind a shorter game.
Either way, if the game makes me feel I got my money's worth, and I am happy then the length doesn't matter hugely.
Best tip is to keep the system clean. Don't install all sorts of junk that will bog the machine down.
Install Steam (steampowered.com). This is a service for buying and downloading digital games. it makes the whole process really simple and they have awesome sales.
You may also want to install Origin from EA, and UPlay from Ubisoft - they all offer games for download and sometimes have good deals.
Other services to check out are GoG.com...
Dimming it would be fine, but other than that Sony should stick to their guns. I've said before that I suspect Sony did their research and knew that most people game for less than 4 hours at a time, so went for the most cost effective battery.
Also, LED's use a tiny amount of power, the impact on the battery will be negligible compared to the upgraded rumble motors and probably even the bluetooth v2.1 standard they used. And didn't Sony say they had improved the g...
That's your preference Belking, but seems a bit short sighted.
You subscribe to Gold and get old games you are liklely to have played, but you can keep em
Or
You subscribe to PSN+ and get nearly news games that are yours for the duration of your subscription.
Considering how many Xbox owners have been shouting for years that they were Day 1 Gold subscribers and intend to keep subscribing forever as the service is so good ...
If it was bad for the industry no publisher would offer the games to Sony.
Here's a few ways I could see Sony giving incentives to publishers in return for free games...
- Publisher makes money off DLC offered alongside the 'free' game
- A monetary kickback for allowing Sony to offer the game
- Publisher earns a percentage of the revenue made from PSN+ subs during the period the game is offered
- Free and more prominent advertising ...
Yeah, I agree with article.
WiiU was a stupid name from Day 1.
Marketing has been terrible (in the UK)
The second screen just seems like Nintendo grasping at ideas in the hope they can disrupt the industry in the same way the Wiimote did
3rd Party Support has yet again been terrible, but what compounds it this time is that it has taken so long for Nintendo to get a really good 1st party library out there.

Every Free 2 Play game I have tried has barriers almost from the start that encourage people to spend money, and when the entire concept and design behind the game is geared towards making it harder for people to progress, it just seems like a flawed and un-fun model to me. Also, on average I have found that F2P games end up costing more over a monthly average than subscription. And if there's any whiff of Pay 2 Win, then I'll not touch the game.
I just prefer the s...
Gears 1 was one of the main reasons I bought a 360 - it was brilliant. Gears 2 was disappointing and I never played 3 or Judgement. But I would love to see a next gen version.
Preferably a new story with different characters but same timeline. I'd rather not see a reboot or the original characters. A better storyline would also be appreciated.
I do think the game play mechanics would need heavily revising. I always found something a bit silly about cr...
Despite the poor recent results Nintendo are a very cash rich company, and have their finger in a lot of other pies which offsets the poor WiiU performance to degree.
I'm not sure Nintendo will exactly bounce back from this, especially when you consider that the out of the GameCube, N64, Wii and WiiU - only one of those can be considered a major success.
I would have no problem if Nintendo became a publisher as we saw games on iPads and competitors consol...
Bit of a pointless article. The Alien video game IP sat dormant for many many years before the Gearbox abomination, which hardy did more damage than the awful AvP movies and the lacklustre later Alien movies such as Resurrection
If there's one thing we know about gamers is that they are a fickle bunch, and the majority are not hardcore. If Isolation gets some good buzz it'll sell OK and could be the next Dead Space
Aliens Colonial Marines re-entered...
Yes, there's something missing...
... Games
The titles released so far have been utterly forgettable, and if you strip away the gloss and next-gen hype they have been mediocre at best.
