The one that has the games YOU want to play

Yeah, if only building a gaming rig then an i5 would do great.

I got the 4770K as I do encoding. It flies. Not the greatest overclocker though. Managed to get a 19% speed bump up to 4.4GHz. Can do 4.6GHz but that is the max I can push it on air, and I prefer not to stress the chip too hard in the first few months.

If this is part of MS' marketing, then it's fair enough to have an embargo.

If I'm being charitable I would say it's to allow sets of launch games to get their moments in the spotlight. Which is a kinda cool way of doing it.

If I was being less charitable I would say that having an embargo end the same time the console launches could be a sign that MS hope people have bought the game on faith, and it'll be too late to cancel if the scores ...

If this game has been switched to PS4 I suspect we won't see anything until late 2015 if we're lucky.

The game looked awesome and ambitious on PS3. With the additional horsepower of PS4 I would imagine some aspects have gone back to the drawing board.

As long as the game comes out at some point, and is as good as ICO and SotC, I don't care how long it takes.

Exactly. As I posted in another thread... It's common for electrical goods to have 3% failure rate or higher and the manufacturers not even blink an eye.

If that's the case with the PS4, that means there's potentially 30,000 defective consoles out there within normal fault expectations. The volume of articles does not suggest anywhere near this number.

All we can do is wait and see if the problem is bigger than 5 to 10% - If it is then Sony have...

Dead Rising is the only one I would really like from the launch line up. Forza is good fun too, and makes a nice change from Gran Turismo - but I'm hoping DriveClub fills that sim / arcade niche.

No interest in Titanfall as will get that for PC if it turns out good.

None of the other launch titles, or games announced for after launch interest me at the moment.

The real measure will be comparing the big markets.

Europe + North America. So we won't know the true picture until after the 29th Nov when Sony launch in the EU.

I would have thought MS should hit 1.5 million on their worldwide launch day. Anything less and Sony will blow them away on the 29th with combined sales... Assuming Sony have built enough units.

Yeah, the embargo definitely raises suspicions.

I dunno, just got a gut feeling that we're gonna be surprised by the press reaction to Ryse.

We shall see!

The first trailer I saw of Ryse knocked my socks off. It looked so cool... then the game play kicked in and all my interest started to evaporate.

If I were getting an XB1 (which I'm not) I would hope DR3 gets really good scores. I like that series a lot and would not say no to it appearing on PS4.

It really wouldn't surprise me if we saw high 8's / low 9's for Ryse. No idea why as the game looks a solid 7 to me - but I just have a feeling reviewers are going to go nuts for it.

Forza will get 9's and 10's as reviewers seem to like arcadey sims

Killer Instinct -...

@JasonKCK

That was not my experience or recollection of the situation at all.

It took an extremely long time for MS to react and acknowledge the RRoD problem.

The 360 launched in Nov 2005. The extended warranty kicked in around July / Aug 2007.

That meant a lot of people whose consoles failed between Nov 2006 and the start of the extended warranty (nearly 8 months) got boned as MS was still denying the extent of the problem....

The problem I had was that my 360 had RRoD after the warranty ended but before they had acknowledged the widespread problem and put the extension in place.

In the UK it was much harder to claim after the fact than in the US. I eventually got fed up with the back and forth exchanges with MS and never got my warranty repair money back.

When my second 360 also failed I got that repaired for free. But it was still a first generation unit, and that eventually fa...

A failure rate of 3% is not unusual in the electronics industry. That means if Sony has sold 1,000,000 consoles, they could expect 30,000 failures.

The amount of noise on the internet about the various PS4 issues, does not seem like 30,000 people to me, or even close. And even if it is then it's an expected margin of failure. If the numbers start hitting 10+% then I think Sony have a problem.

If they hit the levels of 30-50%+ that MS had with the 360, ...

Maybe they just really love the Uncharted universe and have another story to tell.

Although I suspect it'l be a case of more adventure followed by a supernatural style twist before act 3... again.

They managed 4 games in 6 years on PS3. From everything we hear, it now takes longer to develop games, so even with 2 teams I would suspect we will still only see 4 or 5 titles.

It's likely they already know what at least 3 or 4 of those titles are going to be - maybe all of them. So either they are throwing us off the scent about Jak 4, or there's no plans.

I was also a bit disappointed. I loved Uncharted 1, and 2 was the high point. But after 3 I felt I was ready to let that series go.

I was really hoping for a new IP.

Keighley really stoked the hype fires to get the viewers in, and lots of people fell for it.

Sony never made any promises, it was all Keighley on Twitter, Kojima being cryptic, and rampant speculation by excited fans...

It's a trial, not some sort of freebie. If you don't cancel before the trial ends then you'll switch over to a full subscription.

This is not unusual or broken. Just about every subscription based trial I have used has the same method. (Netflix, Amazon Prime etc)

The use of word 'invent' threw me!

Even if that is the case, there's plenty of examples of acquisition being better than building from scratch - and vice versa. Although I believe MS bought at least one company to bolster it's cloud offering - a Dutch company iirc.

I'd also argue with the line about Sony don't make OS' because they don't know how... After seeing some editions of Windows I'd argue the same about MS!!

Probably a combination of WiFi bandwidth / speed and input lag, so it made sense to go for 30fps.

@Volkama

Yes, I agree cloud compute has a big part to play in gaming's future...

But that assumes that a) everyone has internet, b) Those that do have internet have a fat enough pipe and low enough latency, c) Developers are willing to code for something that not everyone can use in the same way or at all

At the moment there's no baseline on which they can develop for. So it doesn't matter how powerful the back end technology is,...
