MS helped invent the cloud???

Strange, I didn't realise they were around in the 1950's.

Was this really about 'upgrading' Flower for PS4 - or simply porting it over.

Seems the most important thing... That a good game from PS3 has arrived on PS4. We know that the PS4 can do more, so these changes seem to be fairly subtle / minor.

I'd be more interested to know how it controls with the upgraded DS4.

I don't think the question is whether cloud compute can work for gaming in theory - it's how it'll work in real situations.

For example... Lets say a developer can offload 5% of the processing to cloud computing. That frees up 5% that can be used for something else - such as improved AI, maybe even graphics (although I doubt it).

But not everyone has internet - so do developers have to code for cloud and non-cloud scenarios. After all they would...

MS are launching the X1 in Europe??? Who knew!! Looking at all the TV features I thought it was a US only console

/jk (sorta)

There's a lot of very mixed scores coming out for all the PS4 launch games right now.

I've seen Knack scores between 4 and 8

Killzone between 5 and 9.

Seems reviewers don' know what to make of the next gen yet.

Bit of a stupid comment by the devs.

Many games use '100%', but 100% is never 100%. Optimisation gets better, developers get more experienced with the hardware, SDK's get refined and improved.

So a game that uses '100%' in 2013 is not going to be as refined or optimised as a game that uses '100%' in 2014, or 15 and so on.

Strange. I thought after MS restructured the Entertainment division a few years back that the Xbox was proving profitable for them. but I don't follow sales very closely so probably I'm wrong.

I know the initial costs to get in to the console marketplace was about 5billion, and then there's the billion for RRoD warranty - but these were written down.

If Xbox really was losing 2billion a year I have no doubt the big shareholders and investors wou...

It will depend on how many units Sony can build and distribute.

Looks like demand is going to outstrip supply.

I dunno about that mixelon.

I don't really care that Sess changed his opinion - everyone is entitled to that, and the rabid fanboys who jump on it are rather misguided and blinkered. But what I do have an issue with is journalists who are no more than puppets or marketeers for developers / manufacturers. It does a disservice to us, the customer, and makes a joke of the industry.

We have far too many untrained unprofessional journalists for too little ne...

If a game is immersive then I tend to binge to the point where I eventually get sick of it and don't play it for a long time after.

Last game I really binged on was Minecraft back in about 2009. I binged on that so hard that I didn't play it for 2 or 3 years.

Also binged on Burnout games, mainly Paradise.

I find RPG's are easier to binge on than other games - but they have to be really good / immersive and have a great story. I ...

Sometimes I think their early access is a bit too early. Especially when factoring in the price. I get the feeling that some devs are treating Early Access almost like Kickstarter.

If you take something like Prison Architect - even the early beta was phenomenal and the structure of the development (monthly beta releases and developer videos to support the new features) has been really good to be part of. I had no issue handing over my money - and I've got tens of hours...

Based on the title, I went to the article expecting some hard facts about the X1 catching up in pre-orders... But there's just poor speculation, assumptions and analysis.

There's one part that makes no sense at all... The author states that X1 demand is outstripping supply - but the authors basis for this is that one online retailer RE-OPENED their pre-orders... Wouldn't that suggest that supply matches or is in excess of demand!

Absolutely. I'm not downplaying Titanfall at all.

I just find it odd that the hype seems so much in favour of Titanfall, and Destiny (by comparison) is almost flying under the radar!

I assume it's just the release dates and hype for Destiny will ramp up once the beta starts.

Same here. I don't really understand how Titanfall is getting all the hype in comparison.

Destiny intrigues me a lot more.

I do find it funny that CoD, a game series that has been bashed for years on N4G, has suddenly taken on such significance when it can be used as a stick to bash opposing console owners :)

Yeah, I read that the Kinect 2.0 uses around 10% of the GPU at all times. No doubt as MS creates better optimised drivers etc this figure will drop.

Their 3 OS strategy is also a bit of a gamble.

The problem MS has is that even if they optimise their OS, drivers, background apps etc... Sony will be doing the same with their OS / apps. It may be that Sony have less optimisations to make in comparison, so MS may close the gap a bit in terms of resources they ...

I'm no X1 fan, but lets not be dramatic here. The future is not bleak for the X1.

The vast majority of X1's will be sold to people whose understanding of resolution stops at 'HD makes the pictures on my TV better'.

As long as the games look 'good' they will be happy. Sure Sony can use it to their advantage in marketing etc but these 'X1 is doomed' comments are as ridiculous as the old 'PS3 is doomed' noise we heard a ...

Probably something like that. I saw a demo of a Windows 8 laptop coming out of hibernate / sleep extremely quickly.

If I remember the key part was the features in the new UEFI BIOS API's that Windows 8 could take advantage of - so I'd imagine MS has done something similar with the X1 architecture.

There's trolls on both sides, but I do like the particular brand of martyred 'we're so victimised' Xbox fanboy on this site.

Back in 2007 Sony was getting constantly bashed by Xbox fanboys and trolls on this site, and every other article was a 'PS3 is doomed' blog or opinion piece posted by an Xbox fanboy.

There's plenty of forums and news sites out there where I'm sure 'victimised and bullied' Xbox fans can band toge...
