Yawn

Lets move on. This ESRAM horse is dead and can only stand so much flogging.

Yes, we know ESRAM is gimping the XB1.
No, nothing can be done about it.
Yes, the SDK and other tools will improve over time
Yes, other optimisations will be found, such as freeing up GPU cycles from Kinect.
No, ESRAM limitations don't stop fun games being fun.
Yes, it will likely mean that for the entire generation PS4 multipla...

I can understand the slightly rabid and wild eyed excitement for these numbers from certain N4G members... But for me, as a Day 1 PS4 owner, I really want games.

Sure, selling more consoles results in better 3rd party support, more games, blah blah. But really, we're being let down by the lack of games.

The age old excuse of 'It's always dry after launch for games' is no longer acceptable. Sure it wasn't Sony's fault Watch Dogs was...

I believe I saw an article on N4G where the dev stated that the sniper rifle would definitely not feature 'snap aiming'.

I think CoD pushed aim-assist a bit too far, but I have no idea how TitanFall may compare.

I prefer a more relaxed aim assist compared to 'auto targetting' which CoD sometimes felt like.

I'm guessing they said the same about Netflix etc...

I can't see how PSNow could fail. The Gakai infrastructure is already there and is being used for other stuff - so it's not like Sony have bet the farm on it.

What this really comes down to is whether EA, Ubi, Activision etc see this as a way of making money from their new titles.

I could potentially see PSNow (at least in the early stages) being full of 3rd party publisher bac...

The guy may not be smart to reveal the loophole and even more stupid to add over 20 years to his subscription, but I think in the interest of good publicity Sony should probably rescind the 21 years he added and give him a couple of years free as a 'reward' for pointing out the problem. (I suspect there's something in the T's&C's that cover gaming the system)

Why should he be punished for this, it's Sony's problem. Banning him would create neg...

How is this 'news'? And why do we need each episode submitted separately.

Might as well start submitting every gaming related YouTube vid!

This isn't about spinning off the XBox division because it's doing poorly, it's about spinning it off as it takes so much money to make so little money.

When you compare the profit of the entertainment division to their core products, it's so tiny it barely registers. And yet MS are still 2billion down from the R&D / launches of Xbox products.

By spinning it off MS could potentially keep close ties to XBox without having to take the brunt...

I wish there was a down bubble for 'Stupid'

Are we seriously playing 'manufacturer' exclusives again. It's one of the dumbest arguments around.

The simple test of whether a game is exclusive or not is 'Can I play this on more than one platform'... Yes? Then it's multiplat.

I'm intrigued by it, but I agree with you, I don't really see why there's so much hype.

Looking at it objectively... It's made by the creative minds who were responsible for CoD - which has been going downhill since CoD 4.

It's an unknown and unquantified new IP.

Will it really exploit the potential of XB1 / PC when it is also being developed for 360.

6v6 with AI bots... Not sure about that. Probably fine...

Yeah, I saw it in London 6 years ago as well. Was a pretty awesome evening.

Thing I remember most (other than the music and video) was before it started seeing just about everyone there pulling out their DS' and using the local whiteboard / chat functionality to send drawings of dicks and boobs. Immature and did nothing to break the video gamer nerd stereotype... but quite funny.

Did you play the first two?

If yes then you'll probably know how bored you'll get playing this.

If no, then maybe you need to give it a chance. I'm not sure how bored you'll be as inFamous games have fairly interesting stories, and if #2 is any indication the game just gets bigger and bigger. Plus you unlock more and more powers as you progress, so there's plenty of incentive to try different styles and techniques.

Perso...

Yeah, Madden and the other EA sports titles was one of the things that raised my concern the most.

I know I'm outlining a worst case scenario, but unfortunately after gaming over 30 years I know all too well what can happen in this industry.

I'm a bit late to this comment thread, but had to post a 'Well Said' to dedicatedtogames.

I want to buy an XB1, but for all the reasons you stated I am suspicious of MS.

Kameo was a great launch title, and with refinement a sequel could have been fantastic. Viva Pinata was something really different and fun. Then we got Gears of War, which was stunning. good times - then 2009 happened and MS went off the rails for me.

I don't think you're trolling.. It's a valid debate, and applies to Sony, MS, and every publisher in the industry (both PC and console).

If publishers start adopting a model where they try and crowbar online features in to a game that would work perfectly well offline - just so they can control how long we can play our games for... That's a really bad thing.

To draw some parallels with what is happening now...

Both Netflix and...

My biggest concern about games as a service, is that it means a publisher can have built in obsolescence.

So a game that could work perfectly well offline suddenly becomes unplayable because the publisher decides to switch off the service.

What we are likely to see is a lot of fluffy and probably unnecessary online features - for example, see Sim City 5 - to justify the 'service' model for an otherwise perfectly fine offline game.

For...

Well, remote play from PS4 is a big bonus and a huge reason to buy a Vita.

I am on the verge of getting one because it's not one game, but (FINALLY!) a critical mass of games I would like to play... (In fact I tried to buy a Slim Vita yesterday but my local store had sold out of the 8 they received within two days)

Disgaea 3
Final Fantasy X / X2 remastered
Danganronpa
Persona 4
Sorcery Saga
Tearaway

On one hand, Flappy Bird has got far too much coverage, and had been seen before.

On the other hand, Super Hexagon is one of the greatest games ever made, so if the dev is making a flappy bird homage, I'm gonna play it

I think you nailed it... MS was scrambling to get the XB1 out the door. It is pretty unbelievable that a couple of very basic, and useful, functions like that would be left out.

I haven't played DR3, but it is the one game I would like to see on PS4 out of all the XB1 launch titles.

The remake of RE1 on GameCube was phenomenal. Resident Evil 4 was brilliant, but not strictly a zombie game. Left for Dead is up there, and the sequel. My favourite is probably the original Dead Rising. I loved that game.

4509d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Maybe. Dead Rising 1 was 360, but #2 came to PS3. might be the same deal here
