Yeah, that is the most likely reason.
Hasn't appeared to have hurt PC game sales through services like Steam - but then the sales model for the hardware is different between PC and consoles. Seems Sony / MS / Nintendo are far more reliant on bricks and mortar stores for their hardware sales.
This happens with almost every AAA release.
I remember reading identical articles on N4G about Uncharted and Halo games.
It's pretty pathetic on both sides, but whatever, how many people look at the Metacritic user ratings for buying advice!
@raWfodog. Yeah, agreed.
If MS don't launch in Japan then they risk some of the more niche Japanese developers not bothering with the console - which in turn means those games don't get a Western localisation.
One of the things I like about PlayStation is that company's like NIS support the localisation of niche titles in the West. I can't imagine not playing Persona, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles and even more obscure stuff. (Would probably h...
Price is the major factor to me on consoles.
Why does a digital download have to have be the same or higher priced compared to the physical product.
Server space to host the files must cost less than physically manufacturing the disc / boxes / inserts etc.
Just feels like price gouging to me.
@bleedsoe9mm
Definitely more convenient, but hardly a deal breaker.
I prefer to replace the hard drive as I don't like clutter around my console (even having a USB cable hanging out the console for charging the controllers is a bit annoying). However I can completely see how it would be appealing to just buy more and more external HDD's as needed.
I thought the XB1 was going to receive a patch that allowed support for almost any external USB hard drive?
Whilst MS may sell an officially badged XB1 drives, there are plenty of really cheap options available.
I'll upgrade my PS4 drive sooner rather than later. It was easy on PS3 and looks just as easy on PS4. I'd really like to get a 2TB when the prices come down and there's a bit more choice.
This game has been flying under the radar, but it looks intriguing.
Hope it turns out well.
Exactly!
If you are after a few tips there are loads of websites, but I would say...
- Don't spend 100 Gold on individual packs. Instead save up another 50G and do an Arena run instead. This will teach you about deck building and how to play effectively; plus you will always get a pack of cards even if you lose 3 games in a row, and you will always get some other little perks - like some Dust or Gold, or even a card. And if you win 7 games in an Arena ru...
Been playing since closed beta, and it is an awesome game.
Even with 'only' 300 or so cards there is enough depth and variety to please any CCG or LCG player. There are some Legendary cards which are really useful to have in your deck - but overall this is not Pay to Win. You can happily play this game for Free, but with a small outlay every month (perhaps view it as an MMO subscription) you will get more enjoyment.
One thing that did amuse me about...
This has piqued my interest in the game...
Yes!
And if anyone likes chiptune stuff, Anamanaguchi is pretty good. They've done stuff on Bit.Trip Runner and Scott Pilgrim - but have a load of original work out as well. They mainly use a re-purposed NES and a few guitars / drums.
I haven't bought the game, or played the beta - but everything I have seen makes the game look like fun even if it is not ground breaking or anything but CoD with Robots (which many reviews - even 9/10 scores - have mentioned).
If the player base stays high I'll probably buy it if it's ever in a Steam or Origin sale.
Was there any comment from Respawn on why they used the Source engine for TitanFall?
As far as I know the devs at Respawn had no particular history of using it. Plus, the engine was never particularly suited for large / open maps design. Also, Source is as old as the hills, and has been surpassed by many engines.
Bottom line... I don't really care what engine is used if the game is fun, but I am intrigued why that choice was made to use an engine origin...
Can't see it. From any angle you look at it MS buying EA would be a bad idea for them.
An exclusivity deal may the closest we'd get - but even then I can't see that EA would go for it as the PS4 is currently well on top in sales numbers.
MS would have to pay EA at least enough to cover what EA could have made by launching multi-plat (and not just PS4, but also handhelds and mobile).
Yeah. MS have been doing it for years in the UK. Just about every EA game was made to look like an Xbox360 exclusive.
It's a simple trick
Most reviews I have seen say it has minor dips at times on XB1.
Doesn't sound like a big deal - but obviously a solid 60fps would be more desirable.
I definitely wouldn't call it a 'struggle' as this article title suggests.
The price of next-gen games is something I don't really understand.
Next gen games on PS4 and XB1 still don't look as good as top end PC versions, and yet the price for PC games has remained roughly the same in most cases (EA being an exception), whereas console games have jumped a lot.
For example. I can pre-order Batman Arkham Knight for £49.85 on Shopto for PS4, or £36.85 for PC... And I know which version will look better.
19 years is a long time in one company.
Also, most CEO's in large corporations normally stay in their role for a max of 5-7 years. In fact many companies will have a succession plan in place that plans for senior members leaving in that sort of time frame.
Most of the positions above Jack in Sony are filled with fairly new people, and maybe he didn't want to move his family to Japan if there was a position for him there.
Congratulations on finding a word that rhymes with Sony to fully express your disdain for fans of PlayStation. I always thought Sonydroids was a pretty poor comeback against XBots.
And you 'can't wait for Sony to bankrupt'? Weird. You would really like to see people lose their jobs just because of a petty console 'war'.
Yep. I picked this one up (although I normally end up buy most Humble Bundles).
These games will be sat on my 'to be played' list for a very long time. Especially with inFamous out on Friday :) But I am looking forward to trying Alpha Protocol and Binary Domain one day. And typing of the Dead Overkill has given me enough entertainment to cover the cost of the entire bundle!
