Probably just BS, but makes a lot of sense on Microsoft's part.

Not only do they lock up Unreal Tournament and Gears of Wars as PC/Xbox360 exclusives (although isn't Gears a MS owned IP anyway?), but they also get Unreal Engine.

Gears is now arguably the biggest franchise on 360 (assuming Halo 4 doesn't drop any time soon!), why not take it (and Epic) in-house. Everything Epic creates seems to 'fit' the MS/360 business model and target market - big, brash, actio...

Choice is rarely a bad thing. Giving people easy access to old games is no bad thing. It gives people the opportunity to play games they never got round to buying, or to own their old favourites in a convenient digital format.

I sold my XBox and games when they announced the 360 (and XBox's still had some resale value). Although I've not bought an XBox Original so far it's nice to know when there's a bit of a lull in 'next-gen' releases I can pick up a few old games.

Yeah I read it. What's your point? The article signs off with 'Ticking timebomb?' and yet earlier implies there's nothing to really see.

If enough of these articles appear it increases the chances that it'll get picked up in the mainstream and something WILL be made of it even though, as the article states, it's an M rated game with nothing much to see.

In fact, it would probably slip by unoticed by the mainstream press (as the sex scenes in GoD 1 and 2 did) if...

Good point. I've not really paid much attention to Frontline either. Will give it a download tonight.

It seems unless an FPS has the words Infinity Ward somewhere in the credits I'm just not interested at the moment!!!

Must refocus on the new FPS games coming out!!!

Yeah, I thought 'War was Hell', not fun! :)

Perhaps we're desensitised to the point where violence really is funny!

So that suggests they are still taking quite a hit on the hardware sales... but not bad considering the tech packed in to the PS3.

What do PS3's retail for in the US these days? UK is £299.99 which is about $600.

The jump to 45nm Cell will certainly help increase yield and lower costs.

Also it just shows how important the PS2 is/was to Sony's bottom line in the gaming division.

True... forgot those.

Have we had a '20 minute install is a good/bad thing' article today? If not I'll knock one up quickly! :)

This game didn't even figure on my radar until I saw a few videos of it in action on YouTube.

Could possibly be amazing, but will it be enough to drag me away from CoD4 multiplayer!

Throw in a 'Wii has no decent software or is a fad' article and a 'XBox360 is unreliable' article and then chuck in one of these 'PS3 gains momentum' and you have your average week (day!) at N4G!!

We KNOW PS3 is selling better. We know the Wii isn't a fad. We know MS have improved 360 reliability.

Move on and lets have some proper news.

The first two games had sex scenes and they were never picked up by mainstream news.

Sometimes I wonder if these pre-emptive articles do anything but fan the flames of scandal and sensationalism until some mainstream hack picks up on it for Fox.

I would imagine so. I've never seen a freeview box which didn't allow subtitles to be turned on. Even the cheap ones.

I know subtitles are important to many people, a relative of mine is hard of hearing so they are vital. Also, it's good to see that finally pretty much all big budget video games are adding subtitle options.

Absolutely see your point... I really don't think it'll set the UK alight with sales of PS3's and PlayTV boxes, but for those who do want it, it's an awesome solution...

Although HDTV's often come with freeview it's the dual freeview tuners and PVR functions PlayTV adds to the PS3 that make it compelling.

Getting a decent PVR for £99.99 (or less) is impossible right now. Plus I'd rather go with a trusted brand like Sony than some cheapo generic PVR.

What you have here is an 'all-in-one' solution.

I have a TV with a Freeview box and PS3 plugged, adding this solution gets rid of the freeview. No biggie really, but for some poeple reducing extra hardware is a nice thing - it's one less remote and elctrical device. PlayTV also adds features I don't have with my current solution.

I only watch 2-3 hours of TV a week, but it's annoying when I miss that one programme I really wanted to watch... Now, not only will ...

Is that confirmed Mighty?

99.99 is a little higher than I'd want to pay. Dual Tuner freeview boxes can be found for less than that.

If BioWare are definitely working on KOTOR3 then fantastic. KOTOR is better than Mass Effect in my opinion. It looks like they have a lot going on right now!!

I wonder if we'll get it before late 2009 or 2010!

See my post above... The PlayTV devs are looking at the possibility of patching in this feature. But it won't be in for launch.

6696d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

The article states that it's a dual tuner device. Which means you will be able to record one channel while watching another (and potentially record the channel you are watching and one other).

The dual tuner also opens up the potential for PiP although there's been no mention of it, but could be patched in later I suppose.

They also mention they are looking to patch in (maybe) recording a channel in the background while playing a game. I'm not so sure about thi...

If you can manage to plug your PS3 in to a wall socket, and pick up a controller I suspect you'll be able to deal with this add-on! :)

Depending on price this could be really big for Sony.

My PS3 is connected to a TV along with a cheapo Freeview box. If I could get rid of that AND gain PVR functions through PlayTV for a decent price I'll be really happy.

Throw in on-demand downloadable TV shows and Movies through PSN and the PS3 really looks to ...
