Improving the single player is the most important thing for me.

I often felt it was 'me vs the track' rather than 'me vs the track and a heap of opponents'.

Considering how cool the crashes were, a more 'Burnout' style of take downs would be neat. Closer driving would be great, sometimes it felt like I could drive for ages before being challenged by the games AI.

Online also needs to be much tighter, and definitely increase the number of competito...

I reckon it'll be similar to the whole HTPC thing... Just specialised cases and possibly some minimum guidance for gaming requirements.

If they try and standardise certain harware they'll find it tough. Intel/Nvidia/AMD+ATI thrive on gamers upgrading and developers pushing the hardware.

I can see what the guy is getting at.

My interpretation is he's saying the 360 is home to titles which generally appeal more to the hardcore gamer. MS didn't use the head start to widen it's appeal.

Although the marketing guy uses the term 'core FPS player', I think he's really talking about the 'hardcore gamer'.

In this case he's correct. The PS2 has one of the most diverse line-ups of software of all time. There is literally something for evey...

@ M_Prime

I own a Wii and have been a huge fan of Nintendo since way back. But the Wii is a disappointment on many fronts.

Thanks for the longwinded reply, but as I said in my post. Third parties are not coining it in.

Many Wii titles (especially third party) are not selling well globally - even Mario Galaxy sold less than expected. Also the Wii has the lowest attach rate, and I would hazzard a guess that the attach rate consists of mainly 1st p...

Looks like Nintendo are flexing their corporate muscle. I'd hate to see us return to the SNES days all over again (price fixing, high third party licensing costs, limits on titles relased etc).

Perhaps Activision could call Nintendo's bluff and abandon the Wii - it's not like third parties are making any money off the console!

To think Nintendo are returning to the position of arrogance they once held is a sad thing. They may be making money off each Wii sold, but ...

@heyheyhey

I really think N4G needs another change how the site handles approvals.

Like you say, 'news' can have a load of reports and still get through.

Surely there needs to be some balance.

Perhaps a system where if a story gets 10 reports it is moved to an area for a moderator to check before posting - and if it fails that approval it could be ditched. Or maybe moved to a a separate area which does not appear on the front page (...

I'm a big fan of Team Ico but this supposed screenshot looks wrong.

First up why is a mountain in the middle distance blurred when mountains nearer and further away are in focus? This isn't a depth of field effect as too much is in focus around it. Plus the blurring seems to be just around the top edge - more like a smudging.

Why is the 'colossus' blurred when some of it's immediate surroundings are in focus? The creature doesn't seem to give the impression of...

At first I assumed that Nintendo are just scared/worried about any sort of negative backlash. It would only take one mention of some kid being groomed by a paedophile; or how Nintendo exposes kids to racist/foul language etc and it would be all over the media.

It's the same reason they implemented the most convoluted and painful friends code system in my opinion.

However, putting text chat in still means some idiots can type swear words etc; so I guess only Nint...

That's dead right NoodleCup. But you've hit the nail on the head as to why the PC market is in decline.

Many mainstreamPC gamers are creaturs of habit - they find a game and stick with it - whetehr that's Sims 2, WoW, the original Everquest or whatever.

Getting thos gamers to move to the Next Big Thing is extremely tough, so there's less incentive for developers to create PC games.

I've always been a console and PC gamer, but I used to be one of those PC gaming rig obsessives. Always chasing the 'perfect' set up. Always trying to scrape another couple of frames per sec from overclocking. Always looking to the next upgrade.

I realised it was just dumb. I was tweaking my PC more than playing games!

What's hurting the PC market is a lack of a stable platform, and hardware moving at a furious pace.

Your average consumer wants...

You have some valid points Bladestar.

But what I dont't find impressive is how a game like Burnout Paradise is gimped on one platform because it doesn't have a Hard Drive.

What I also find unimpressive is that the 360 has been out longer and hasn't shown the same type of innovation as PS3 games (such as Eye of Judgement)

I own both platforms, and have no bias either way. Both companies have screwed up in some areas and I'll criticise/praise them b...

@ moparful99

And that's the great thing about gaming... people can have differing tastes.

I'm a huge fan of racing games, and find the 360 triggers easier to balance the throttle on.

I don't mind the weight of the PS3's triggers, I just don't like the size and angle of them. Just feels weird to me.

The weight of the SIXAXIS is a definite plus and I don't think it feels cheap at all either.

Well you do get a few other extras for your 50quid (like wireless controller)!

But you are right... MS should bite the bullet and scrap the non-HDD SKU. While Sony has two SKU's I think MS will stick with that as well, so I'm not sure we'll get to 1 SKU any time soon.

Perhaps they'll get rid of the Arcade with their next price cut. Move the Premium to 199.99, get rid of the Arcade and leave the Elite at it's current price but chuck in another game.

Agreed.. MS can spin the whole 'appealing to the casual gamer / enticing price point to get in to gaming' line, but it seems clear to me that they left it out for cost reasons and to get the console on the market as quickly as possible.

Remember when the 360 launched? It was cited at the time that one of the limiting factors for launch units was supply of HDD's.

MS got it wrong, and it will limit games in the future, or alienate part of their install base if the...

The interview itself is pretty interesting and covers a fair bit of ground.

The HDD question (especially as an opener) is pretty pointless though. As if Peter was going to defend the XBox and say it's totally not necessary or on the flip side criticise MS for not making it standard!!

He tows the middle ground - although I wouldn't necessarily say his 'you're supporting a system which is an awful lot cheaper' is all that valid. In the UK there's only a 50quid di...

I'm starting to get a bit annoyed by the delays in getting decent stuff on the EU PS Store.

Everyday shooter took, what? 3 months to hit the EU after the US?

Pain is still MIA.

It's a definite area Sony could learn from Microsoft.

Who knows... But it does seem like multiplatform Capcom titles require it.

The backlash they are getting for DMC and Lost Planet may make them re-evaluate the decision though...

Personally I'm OK with the 5GB install.

While HOME may not implement global gamercards, the Trophy Room I've seen in a few videos would indicate a similar device for 'bragging' to friends.

I wonder if Trophy Rooms can be made Public, so other players can walk around them?

If done well Achievments/Accomplishments/Tr ophies/whatever can really extend replay value for some gamers.

I played Crackdown far longer than I thought I would just to complete a few more challenges. It added fun and made me play the game differently than I may have otherwise approached it.

The challenges in CoD4 are pretty sweet as well. Using weapons I wouldn't normally bother with. Or trying to get the 'kill someone by shooting an explosive device through ...

I sorta agree. The PS3 controller does need a (minor) redesign.

The new R2/L2 analogue triggers are awful in most cases. Even if Sony just made them a little longer and moulded a 'lip' or profiled them differently to stop fingers sliding off, it would be a start. I just don't understand why they decided to make them pivot in the way they do and make them convex and make them a bit slippy, it's just not good design!

Also, the overall feel of the handles isn't qu...
