This is a slippery slope, so I'm glad to see EGM stand up for their integrity.

Magazines and websites can NOT bend to the will of a large corporation. A review needs to be fair and unbiased.

I understand (and support) developers/publishers issuing a list of restrictions such as 'don't print spoilers'. That makes sense.

But if the list of restriction start to include technical limitations of a game (for instance lag during online, framerate, insta...

So, just becuase Edge and Eurogamer gave MGS4 an 8 they MUST be biased, lying, part of a giant corporate conspiracy!! Whatever!

There's nothing in the EDGE review that I didn't agree with, so 8 seems like an accurate score from a mag that marks games pretty hard.

Just because a couple sites/mags don't jump on the hype train all of sudden they must be discredited.

The EDGE review actually made me pre-order a copy because it addressed my concerns wi...

I'm cautiously looking forward to Too Human, but if they are serious about doing a trilogy then it better be damned good!! Otherwise they just need to get on with Eternal Darkness 2 (if they still own the IP). I recently busted out Eternal Darkness again, and that game still rocks for storyline and game play.

MS would be crazy to drop SK on the fact that one game _may_ be a dud.

I don't know anyone who played the original Splatterhouse games that doesn't now have a special place in their ripped out, stomped on the floor, cut up with a chainsaw, hearts for this franchise. :)

To be honest the originals were very much style over substance. It never got old swinging a metal bar in to the face of an unsuspecting demon, even though the game wasn't actually that great.

I look forward to seeing the end results of this update - not every game ha...

It's this sort of stuff that makes me think HOME will actually be a worth while effort. Up to now I've been kinda skeptical of why I would want to use it, but the more I hear the more I think it'll be a nice addition to the PS3.

It's also good to see 3rd parties being used to test the features of HOME. Not only does it make me think it'll be a robust piece of software when it launches, but also that 3rd parties will be on-board (and with experience of actually using HOME feat...

Stringer was a great appointment for Sony.

It's always good to hear a company acknowledge their mistakes at the highest level. Makes me think they have learned from those errors and won't repeat them.

Just as Sony has learnt that a 600dollar price point, a truckload of arrogance and rendered 'target' footage is not the best way to launch a console, I'm sure MS have learnt that testing their hardware before launch is also key to building consumer confidence. ...

As much as the internet loves to get all paranoid and think the worst, there could be genuine reasons for this.

GTAIV is a sandbox game. Can any reviewer really be subjective when they are given total freedom in a game space? There's a good chance they may miss some small but significant detail. Also, if reviewers were to only review boxed retail copies they would probably be reviewing the game (possibly) less than a week before release, and in the case of magazines the revie...

@ SaiyanFury

I'm certainly no Nintendo fanboy. Quite a few of my posts on N4G have been to air my disappointment with the Wii.

But providing only 512Mb isn't something I will gripe about. Sure they could of provided 2GB, 4GB or 8GB - but sooner or later someone would have filled it and started complaining that Nintendo should have given them more!

For anyone who has worked in a large company you will often find that one dept doesn't know what the heck ...

Your Animal Crossing point is a good one. With the GameCube version they shipped it with a separate memory card.

I would assume they may be able to do the same with the Wii version - probably ship it with it's own branded SD card.

Hold on a sec!

The Wii provides 512Mb of 'free' storage. Nintendo could quite easily have provided NONE and forced us all to buy memory cards.

The ONLY thing Nintendo need to do here is allow us to run games directly from SD cards. Problem solved. 1GB+ SD cards can be picked up for next to nothing!

The failure here isn't the limited storage space it's the half hearted file handling - and even then, to be honest, it's hardly a chore copying games ...

These may not be strictly time saving (and some have been mentioned), but here are my faves:

DownloadHelper (go to YouTube etc and download the embedded vids - very handy)
gDocsBar (more control over Google docs)
Google Gears (used to view offline content, such as Google Docs)
Google Notebook (copy and paste anything from any page for later reference)
Google Toolbar
Google Reader Watcher
PicLens
DownloadThemAll
AdBlock Plus(yay!)

The graphics look cool, but if this is some sort of next-gen Pokemon Snap I really don't care.

Until I know what sort of game Afrika really is (if it's a game at all) I'm not going to worry.

As for importing - that will depend on the amount of Japanese text. If it's Japanese only then I doubt there will be English/other languages embedded.

If gaming starts to head online centric then my game buying will drop off massively.

My time is generally split between CoD4 and lots of single player games at the moment. In terms of time spent gaming it's about 60/40 in favour of single player.

With online gaming I find I stick to one game for quite a long time, so that I can get better at it and feel I'm holding my own against other gamers. However with single player games I buy a lot more as I complete them a...

Heavenly Sword was never a game I was particularly excited about. When the reviews came out they were generally OK, but nothing AAA. There's no way I would have bought it.

I am SO GLAD I got Heavenly Sword bundled with my PS3!! If not I would have overlooked this little gem of a game.

A sequel/prequel would be cool, but in the context of the story it isn't really needed. If NT's next project uses similar concepts and game play mechanics to HS I'll be happy.

Hmm, I'm not impressed by this news. Lost Winds is a brilliant but criminally short game and yet they are already making a sequel.

Sony originally claimed (and may have even showed a protoype at E3 05 - I think) that the PS3 had multiple ethernet ports. The idea being that the PS3 would become a hub for all the other network equipment.

But I stand corrected - it was 3 not 4 ports!

But hey dude, don't worry about an apology! ;)

I sorta agree with you... I guess my complaint is the speed of evolution in the Dashboard.

In approx 1 year we've seen a very usable PSN interface turn in to something extremely slick (at least for the US).

The Xbox dashboard by comparison, is a bit more of a faff in my opinion to navigate around. MS have had a lot longer to scale and improve it to meet the number of titles they offer.

As for the Wii, they've hit a pretty sweet spot from Day 1 with their...

..Agreed

Peter Moore and JJ Allard were a much nicer 'face' of Xbox. They came across as genuine, enthusiastic guys. The 'new breed' of Kim and Greenberg just look and sound like whiny corporate suits.

If MS intends to increase the download limit they seriously need to address the price and capacity of their hard drives.

I'm reluctant to upgrade from the 20GB I got because it feels like such a damn rip off. I slammed a 250GB HDD in my PS3 for next to nothing.

The increased limit is sweet news from MS tinged with the sour after-taste of getting screwed for a new HDD!!
