It is ridiculous that a company can get away with launching such a flawed product like the 360. Well done for Lian Li for addressing part of the issue as best they can, but there should really never be a need for this type of product at all.

I'm on my third 360, and extremely unimpressed. Spending out on a new case may alleviate some problems, but I doubt it'll totally cover up the jet engine roar of the DVD drive.

Crisis Core is technically great, and the story is fun - but the DMW should never, ever, resurface in a game in it's current form.

@Relcom - Disgaea is the best ever PSP game imho. It fits so perfectly on to a portable device!

Didn't FF7 come out on PC?

In business terms you want your product to have a USP... A Unique Selling Point.

If you compare like for like features between consoles then Sony has more USP's, but for your average consumer who isn't nitpicking between built in WiFi and the Cell vs Xenon, exclusive games are usually the most obvious and high profile USP's.

This makes exclusives vital for Sony and Microsoft. It's why we've seen Microsoft so desperately make traditional Sony exclusives mutliplat...

Considering this guy has worked in the industry, his views are really narrow. The title is just to get hits, but the article actually says we will see hardcore and casual gaming become less polarised.

To an extent I can see where he is coming from. For example, there's no denying that MGS4 is a slightly more accessible game than previous iterations. I suspect FFXIII will also have a 'lower price of admission' compared to previous games. yet both titles would normally be con...

Rather than take pot shots at competitors Nvidia should concentrate on sorting out the disgusting debacle that anyone owning an 8400 or 8600 GPU in a laptop faces.

If recent reports are to be believed the problem extends to G92 and G94 cores as well.

Until I see benchmarks I'll reserve judgement on Larrabee - they have some interesting ideas, and after Intel stepped up their game with the Core 2 chips I'm willing to keep an open mind.

Right now (...

There's some DLC on the Euro PSN store.

£0.69 (approx $1.34) for 4 new wonders (Lighthouse of Alexandria, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Scotland Yard and SETI), plus 2 new Artefacts (Camelot and Tower of Babel)

I've got no issue with companies paying for exclusives, or big titles going multiplatform. The games industry is a business, and businesses are ONLY looking to make money.

The more money a company makes, the more games it can invest it. So from that viewpoint multiplatform titles are a good thing. We the gamers benefit.

However in this case, if it's true that the PS3 version will be delayed until the 360 version is finished then my opinion of SquareEnix drops a lo...

I really liked Flow, so I'm looking forward to this. It's nice to change the pace from frantic shooter to more laid back games like Eden, Flower, Flow, PixelJunk Monsters etc.

Any third party company has to seriously look at multi-platform games - or securing funding from the source for exclusives.

We know Microsoft have deep pockets, but Bungie have always struck me as a developer who likes to play with technology. They started out as a Mac developer after all, so they are obviously not afraid of different architectures.

Well, I really hope you are right Super! :)

Sounds like you've been around since back in the day, as have I, so I'm sure you can understand any frustrations regarding Rare/Ultimate's previous gems compared to recent output.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Banjo, seems like a good premise. VP2 is something to look forward to if they seriously address the limitations of the original... One of those secret projects better be a new Blast Corps (if they still own the IP ...

It's nice to know the PS3 has plenty of headroom, but we have to realistic here.

The '70% spare power', isn't going to lead to 70% better looking games than what we have now. A lot of that untapped power is going to be used to get more on screen, to improve AI routines and much of the behind the scene's stuff number crunching. Sure that'll lead to better games, and just like every generation before the graphics will improve, but the chances are the PS3 is going to be somewhat l...

There's nothing wrong with 'what if' articles, but this one just seems pointless.

To say MS and Sony are limping along is crazy. Sure Nintendo have shocked the industry and they may have momentum right now, but we've seen higher levels of Nintendo dominance be overturned (NES to SNES era). And the knock on effect is that if/when consumers get bored with their Wii's they can always move on to other consoles.

It may not be exactly out of the realms of fantasy to see ...

Well, I didn't say they had moved on to good new things! :)

There's developers taking their time to get things right, and there's devs who just don't have the skills any more. If they nail it with Banjo - that's one AAA title in what? 7 years? (2001, Conkers Bad Fir Day).

Are we really supposed to wait 7 years for each AAA Rare game? I don't expect them to be churning out AAA like in the N64 days - but their output for the last TWO generations has been mediocre... ...

This is going to sound like a whine unfortunately, but I was a huge Rare fan back when they developed for N64, and even when the were Ultimate Play the Game on the Speccy, so it really does pain me to say this... but,

Instead of having half the team working on secret projects, why not stick the WHOLE team on one or two projects and actually get them released!? Rare's output has been lacklustre at best - which would be almost forgiveable if they also released games fairly frequen...

When Sony retire the PS2 it'll not be from a finishing blow of a competitor, but because the old warhorse has proved itself over many campaigns, and the PS3 will be ready to succeed it.

What will be more interesting is if there is much change between 360 and PS2 sales when the price drops.

It must be kinda worrying for MS when the 360 is priced at less than a Wii and yet is still being outsold by Nintendo and Sony.

I used to build PC rigs - Sometimes you could build two identical rigs using exactly the same hardware, and yet one may have issues with a driver and the other would not, or one would have an IRQ conflict and the other be fine.

When you're working on the insanely complex chips and tech like Sony, Intel, Nvidia etc are, sometimes wacky things happen in what should be identical components.

It's the same with so many things. Cars for instance - they are robot assembled ...

When you sell a few million units, you can guarantee that someone somewhere will have a problem that wasn't expected or caught during testing. It's just the way it goes.

If we lived in some sort of lala land fantasy world where every company 'got it right first time' then we wouldn't have seen RRoD or bricked PS3's etc etc. We live in the real world, and as much as people may hate it, in the real world, companies don't get it right first time, release dates slip, and there is n...

If MS want more exclusives perhaps they should invest money in developing them (or supporting third party developers) instead of spending the bucks making old Sony titles multiplatform, or securing a couple of months advantage on timed exclusives.

What's interesting here is that Rage it's often been commented that the game is an open world.

How is this going to work with multiple discs (regardless of whether it's 2 or 3). I assume that certain areas will become unavailable at some point as the story unfolds. I can't really see disc swapping working in an open world game at all.
