Well then why not BUY the game, and install the pirated copy if you have such big issues with DRM.
It's such an easy excuse to say 'I pirate because of DRM'. That's a crock.
If you want the game and want to support the developer then pay up.
I guess you just have to decide if you really want the game enough to pay for it and own it forever.
Either that or find a friend who has bought the DLC, and get them to log in to your account so you can take advatage of the 5 PS3 download limit!! :)
But you are spot on with your assessment - DLC has some many advantages for the publisher... No costs for packagaing/producing discs; no 2nd hand sales eating in to their profits and so on.

What an overly enthusiastic article!!
I'm a BIG fan of RPG's regardless of whether they are Western, Japanese, SRPG's or whatever.
But overall I've disappointed with almost every RPG released this generation. Blue Dragon was a nice distraction, but hardly AAA. Disgaea 3 is awesome, but extremely niche. The rest have all been pretty meh or just so uninspired I've not even bothered ot look at them.
The 360 may have more RPG's, but that doesn't mea...
Reviews are just one person's opinion. However that opinion can be influenced by money, various business pressures and all manner of other factors.
There is a complete lack of credible journalism in the industry at the moment.
I read reviews to get a rough flavour of a game, and look at scores mainly for comedy value (Halo 3 and GTAIV's 10/10's are my favourite punchlines).
What seems to be overlooked is that journalism is an important part of mov...
The next generation console war will be really interesting.
With more and more titles going multi-platform there's less and less reason to own more than one 'next gen' console.
So a console either has to differentiate itself from the competition (like the Wii), or give gamers more reason to buy their console than the opposition (the battle Sony and MS is locked in with exlcusives).
MS has done a great job at grabbing IP's that have traditionally be...
I think your argument is too simple.
Parents don't automatically buy the next thing on the shelf. There's much more to it than that. Cost of games, titles the kid wants, cost of peripherals and so on.
Plus there's other factors - such as how many kids actually want a 360, how many adults want a console (considering the average gamer age is now 35), have 360 sales hit the wall.
Also, considering MS have used the 'stock problems' line twice before - if t...
@ GameTime
We may not NEED Blu-Ray right now, for the current games in dev. But you give a developer more space and they will use it.
You make it sound like this new tech is a bad thing. Why move to DVD if CD was enough, why move to CD if floppy disc was enough at the time?
Is it better to have a game come on one Blu-Ray or three DVD's? Even if you don't care about disc swapping (I don't) you have to admit it's less hassle.

Why would someone take out a lawsuit against Sony over this?
Sony are saying that any of the 440,000 owners of Vaio's effected can get them fixed for free.
Well if you look at PoG's original post he's obviously having a dig at the entire Sony brand. Based on what? The PS2.
So to expect people not to counter is crazy, especially considering PoG's previous posts.
Also, I would totally disagree that 'Microsoft did better than a recall on the 360. They fixed them for free and it didn't require a court order'
A recall normally requires the fault be fixed. Considering I am on my 3rd XBox360 I can safely s...
Well, while we're ramping up to a console wars agrument, I may as well throw in...
MS sent out replacement power cables for the original XBox (was that only UK?) because of a fire risk, even though the fault was the connector, not the cable.
MS had to repair the 360 steering wheels because some started smoking
RRoD anyone?
No company is innocent when it comes to faulty products.
Free repair is fine by me, it's denial t...
We all like a bargain... But recent research (only in US I believe) showed that the average gamer is 35. Yep, 35 - not exactly the age where you're pulling up weeds!.
So we can speculate about lower income families or kids jumping on the 360 when it hits 199, but the truth is, that even at a lower price point than the Wii, it's not selling as much. It's not even outselling the much higher priced PS3.
At 199 there's no doubt that MS will shift units - but for ho...
Although I own the PS3 version of GTAIV, I'm really interested to see what $50,000,000 buys in the way of DLC.
Spore has been near the top of my 'most wanted' list for a while now.
Nice to read that it actually delivers.
Just hope it runs OK on my PC - otherwise it may be time for an upgrade!! :)
Chrome has nice features and for me at least it's been really robust so far.
I like the simplicity of the interface (although bookmark handling is a little bit of a faff).
Because of the amount of Add-ons I use it'll be difficult to move away from FF3, but I'm going to try Chrome for a while.
Making Google Docs and Mail feel like applications when used with Google Gears is kinda cool.

I should really try the game before I claim there's no decent horror MMO!! :)
But I've been following Requiem for a while, and for some reason it just doesn't appeal...
I partly agree Mahr. Sure diversification is good for competition and the consumer... but in Nintendo's case I feel the better term is 'dilution'.
They've taken their core franchises and dumbed them down to the lowest common demoninator (or maybe they've just lost their development magic). The hardcore market may be a tiny niche now (to Nintendo), but lost sales are lost sales - I won't be buying the next Nintendo console, and I've owned every Nintendo handheld and console si...
I'll have to respectfully disagree with you. :)
Gears 2 may not be a huge leap in terms of texture/lighting etc. But it is (as you said) more polished, and where it makes a BIG leap is the amount happening on screen. The number of enemies looks much increased - and to me that's a massive improvement in graphics.
I've not seen enough of FFXIIIversus to make a comment on that, but considering how great FFXIII looks, and it'll be on both PS3 and 360 I'm not convinc...
Why has Firefly had such a rough ride? A great TV show cancelled after 1 series. A pretty good film to tie up the loose ends, but could really have done with a sequel (or two).
And now the MMORPG gets 'delayed' (and in all likelihood cancelled). The potential of the game is obvious to anyone who ever watched the show.
Ah well. Fingers crossed the Warhammer 40k MMORPG turns out OK, or maybe Stargate MMORPG (although less interested in this one.)

Agreed cpuchess.
None of us are perfect, but all this BS around 'I hate EA', 'the DRM is draconian' so I'll pirate the game makes me sick.
Just as many people would pirate this game if it had no DRM, or a more relaxed copy protection.
Just because no one can see the thief download the game doesn't mean it isn't as bad as walking in to a shop and stealing something from the shelf.
I bet a good proportion of people on this site would love to w...
