Bungie need to get working on a new Myth game. The original had the best online game play, and should be ported to XBLA asap.
Halo is dead to me now. Halo:CE was awesome. Halo 2 was very poor. Halo 3 was extremely disappointing. So persoanlly, I don't care for anything Halo 3 related - whether it's a squad based game or expansion.
I guess it's to be expected... MS keep milking the Halo FPS franchise, and yet they take a dump on the one thing that had potential...
Marketing budget, development budget, R&D budget and so on are all separate 'pots' of money. Just because one is losing money doesn't mean investment is stopped in other areas. In many companies the marketing budget is usually one of the biggest outside of the core operations.
Sony has a substantial marketing budget - but they are not focusing on games. In the UK most of the adverts are for the console itself - and even then most of them are for the 'This Is Living' catc...
Slightly off-topic but...
Too Human has been dropped to £19.99 at GAME in the UK if anyone wants to pick it up.
I guess the sales haven't been Too Good for Too Human! - It's not even been out a month in the UK.
So far this game is really living up to it's promise. It's very very cool.
There were 5777 codes left when I got mine - guess I was in the right place at the right time (for a change!!)
Good point. That would be a great feature.
Also interested to see how much faster the game loads off disc compared to Blu-Ray.
Not a big deal. Would rather have the game released in October than wait while they add it - It's a cool feature but I dunno how much it will be used compared to offline creation modes.
This sounds feasible.
I have a hunch that the integration between Home and LBP is rather more than Sony or MM have let on so far.
Shame. A decent return to an old IP may have got Rare back in the groove of producing quality AAA games.
I love new IP, but Rare has enough top quality old IP that has never been seen outside of a Nintendo console.
Jet Force Gemini would make an awesome Co-Op platformer.
Blast Corps could be an amazing puzzle/action/adventure game - and Co-Op would be awesome as well.
Not to mention how many old Imagine Play the Game IP they have just sat d...
"Rare plays a strategic role in delivering games and platform experiences that will help the Xbox achieve our long-term strategy of expanding the customer base to a mainstream audience"
That statement concerns me a bit. Are Rare now focused on the more casual market? If so, what are the chances of KI3 or a new Blast Corps?
I really hope this isn't the case - but looking at recent Rare output I fear the worst.
Oops, hadn't noticed the date! Came out the 12th didn't it in UK?
Still... 4-5 month delay from the UK launch of the 360 version and a year delay compared to the US isn't really on...
Perhaps if EA actually launched the game, instead of doing stupid exclusivity agreements they would sell more.
I think GH lost the plot on GHIII, so as a European I really want to try Rock Band.
However considering Rock Band for PS3 is STILL not out in Europe, it's crazy that the US is already on to Rock Band 2.
It seems EVERYTHING sank the XBox...
Paying Nvidia a huge fee for every GPU.
Paying through the nose for the HDD
Needing first mover advantage for the 360
It still annoys me that MS cut off the XBox so suddenly.
I'm pretty shocked that MS couldn't get hard drives for less than $70. Even back then 2.5" drives were fairly cheap - and when buying in the millions I would have thought they'd have cost a lot less.
Still...
Great use of the word bell-end. Not used nearly enough in every day conversation. :)
I partly agree with Peter here. I think a lot of talent had left Rare by the time MS picked them up.
MS paid FAR too much for Rare. nintendo must have laughed all the way to the bank.
I seriously want Rare to bounce back to their golden days - Blast Corps is still one of the all time great games. They obviously still have skill (Viva Pinata is great, Nuts and Bolts looks fairly innovative), but something doesn't seem to be gelling right.
Perha...
Don't you just love the internet... A giant ball of goo where anyone can post a knee jerk reaction thinly veiled as 'journalism'. To hell with research, to hell with citing sources, to hell with credibility!!
I'm just going to trot over to Wikipedia and change the Singstar page to include this well reasoned and well justified piece of news about the 'broken' DRM in Singstar - EVERYONE should KNOW about THIS!! /sarcasm - for those unable to grasp the concept...
Surely that's been misquoted...
It should have been 'Microsoft: We'll always try and take Sony's first, second and third-party titles'.
/jk
Anyone who has a brain cell or two knows that the one and ONLY reason that Sony showed a load of FUD at E3 2005 was to steal Microsoft's thunder.
MS was gearing up to launch the 360, and in one fell swoop Sony managed to steal the limelight with the rendered 'target footage', and an over engineered PS3 with two HDMI ports and 3 Ethernet ports etc.
If Sony had not done that the 360 lead would be greater than it is today.
At the time I thought it was...
First off, I agree that most DRM in it's current state, is a bad thing.
However you are incorrect in your assumption that you actually own the software. When you buy something off the XBLA etc you are buying the license, or the 'right' to use it in exactly the way the company allows. You do not own the software you download.
Personally I think Sony have it right. I can download something from the PS Store, and install it on 5 machines. Once activated I don't ...
Well, as a person living in the EU I have to disagree.
Guitar Hero is not a patch on Rock Band.
I'm intruiged by how developers will integrate their games in to HOME, but overall I'm not particularly excited by this.
It seems obvious to me that it is little more than DLC heaven where Sony can nickel and dime people for stuff like furniture and clothing. Fantastic to those who like this sort of stuff, but it's not for me.
I have trouble viewing this as anything other than a pointless 3D interface - launching games, chatting to friends, playing little pub/ar...
