The thing I find odd is how long it takes to shift the data.
Two games can have similar sized installs, but one will complete significantly faster than the other (trying to think of an example!).
Anyone else notice this?
Installs are no big deal - however when you see Naughty Dog and Insomniac creating AAA titles with zero install delay, and only tiny data caches it makes me wonder what the hell is up with other developers (and that includes Kojima...
If Sony are concerned Afrika wouldn't shift enough units to justify producing a boxed version, just stick it on PSN.
Seems simple to me.
I'd be much more likely to pick this up at a lower price point on PSN, than buy a boxed version. I'm intruiged by this title, but it's not a 'must have'. Drunken impulse purchase? Oh yes! (It's how I make all of my best purchasing decisions)!!

"Sometimes in life, people want to believe things so badly, that they will convince themselves things are changing, when they are really not.
More commonly, this is called "cognitive bias" "
And sometimes people will judge things for themselves, as pogibaldy says he has done, rather than be convinced by irrelevant numbers and possibly biased sources.
I know I know - but what can I say! I am (was?) one of the Nintendo faithful.
Got my Gamecube and Wii on launch day. Have loved every Nintendo product since the Game and Watch devices!
I was confident the quality they showed over the years would continue in to the Wii era... I was wrong :(
@Merritt
Anyone who was taken in by that E3'05 Sony PR BS was a fool - 4D at 120FPS, 1080p, yeah right!
It is now obvious to anyone with a grain of intelligence that Sony were just trying to deflect any attention away from the imminent 360 launch and on to their own (delayed) console.
The chances of actually getting a machine with 2 HDMI ports, 3 Ethernet ports, a controller like a banana, and could run 1080p@120FPS 4D were always zero despite the ...
EDIT: Oops, reply to wrong post!
Agreed Pogibaldy, but what is interesting about your comment is that some of those titles you've observed as equal or better on PS3 are actually running at a lower resolution on PS3.
The number of times we see crazed comments about the PS3 running at a lower res so must be inferior obviously means absolutely nothing. I find it pretty annoying in reviews when they mention resolution like it is actually a major factor when for 99% of gamers they would never even realise there wa...
I think the biggest mistake MS made was not fitting a hard drive to all models, and forcing devs to work around that problem.
I seriously think that for multiplat games the DVD-9 format WILL start to hold back the PS3 in the next 12 months. iD is the first dev to come out and say it (with Rage) but won't be the last.
Give a developer a standardised system (i.e. every PS3 has a Hard drive) and a fat lot of disc space and they will utilise it in innovative ways. ...
I'll probably get a few flames for this, but Sucks2BU I think the answer is because there are so few exclusives on the 360 that are worth Sony trying to grab for the PS3.
The games you list were exclusive only by 'tradition' - DMC, RE and FF etc were never true exclusives because the developers were not 1st or 2nd party.
In the current economic climate most 3rd party devs are going to go multi-plat from now on just to make money (unless they get a fat paycheck fr...
Nintendo have a long way to go to convince me to keep my Wii.
One only needs to mention Ico or Shadow of the Colossus to know that single player games matter a lot.
Some good points there - but as someone playing the beta I would be shocked if any site gives the game less than 85%.
I'm not saying it's perfect, but what MM have done is different and gives gamers powerful tools.
If you just take the single player platforming game part of LBP then I think it's a solid 8/10 at the moment.
When you throw in the level building, online, Co-Op and community aspects the score climbs and climbs.
The quali...
The problem will never be 100% fixed, - the question is, has the failure come down to within normal industry expectations for failure rates?
It's good to hear they are on the right track, and the Jasper board and new chips can only help matters more.
The next big issue they should be looking to tick off the list is the noise level. I would assume new models are quieter simply because they are generating less heat and so need the fans to kick in less - but the D...
I think they've been really smart in the way they've rolled out the beta.
In a recent article Sony were criticised for not marketing some games (which I agree with to an extent) - but why bother when you can generate so much hype and good press for free!!
This beta is as much about hype and marketing as it is about actually testing the game.
I just wish I could knock off work early and get back to level building! :(
I'd be surprised if Sony drop the RAM to DDR. One of the big factors in the PS3 is the RAM running at the same speed as the CPU. Anything less would create a massive bottleneck and severely hinder the processing power.
Also, I think the 'fact' that Sony is pulling engineers from IBM is only half true. I seem to recall a story about Sony leaving development of the Cell to IBM and the other partners - however this does not mean the Cell will not be further developed. IBM alre...
I've been saying exactly the same on this very site for months!
It is obvious the PS4 will utilise either multiple Cell's (at least 2, or possibly 3), or use a newer version of the Cell (they already have different versions).
By the time they ramp up for the PS4 the yields will be huge on the Cell, and the costs will be much much lower. All the R&D for the Cell is done cutting a huge cost from the development cycle.
It will also definitely...
'commoner'? Is that how we refer to non-gamers now??
I like it!!!

If there's one thing console devs should have learned by now is that graphics get better and better over the lifetime of a system!!
EDIT: I should also add, if Gears 3 doesn't look better than Gears 2, then I would say that's a limitation of the Unreal Engine rather than a limitation of t...
"This is news, it shows how thousands of people, including myself are very disappointed in my PS3"
Yes, I'm sure 'thousands' of PS3 owners are disappointed by the chrome strip, the lack of pressable buttons, the size of the machine. Oh and let's not forget that Haze sucked - a game which every 360 fan boy was desperate to claim would be multi-platform!!
Wow, that IS news! /sarcasm
Looks like a combination of cost cutting and improving security.
In terms of impacting games... Absolutely and categorically zero impact.
