Yeah, MS are price gouging...
- Wireless adapter
- Replacement hard drive
Just because you and I are smart enough to see that the wireless adapter is overpriced doesn't mean every one is smart enough to look elsewhere for a cheaper solution.
I actually like the compact Wireless add-on as it fits unobtrusively on the back of the 360, but considering that it costs so much AND competitors come with WiFi built in, it's a rip off.
I ...
I'm sure MS have learned their lesson with the 360's reliability.
But for me it goes beyond the reliability. When I add up the overall impact that MS have had on my gaming I'm feeling they are becoming less and less relevant.
I bought a launch 360, and am now on my third. That makes me a little cautious about MS' next console, but then again the original XBox was built like a brick - so the Next Xbox could go either way.
The games for 360 have been dry...
The demo was OK.
Not every game needs to be AAA to be entertaining, and I'll make up my own mind on games rather than take the word of reviewers.
The OTT handling and stupidity of it all just made me smile. It reminded me of the clunkiness of old 8 and 16-bit driving games!
There's no way I would buy this game, but I will definitely rent it on my Lovefilm account.
I have no idea what the FPS was for MGS4, or GoW1 or 2, or Gears 1 or 2, Fallout 3 or BioShock - and I really don't care.
All I know is that I loved those games, and as long as the framerate is not crippling I don't care if it's 30, 60 or 120FPS.
And I don't care that the resolution in CoD4 was sub-HD or that in Wipeout it's some clever framebuffered 1080p - I loved those games too. And if GoW3 turns out to not run at 720p I won't care about that either as long ...
Good to see something new, but will reserve judgement until I see benchmarks.
I'm a huge fan of Nintendo, but I am also a huge fan of gaming and own multiple consoles.
At the moment Nintendo are not catering to my tastes and my Wii is gathering dust. The titles you list all have far superior versions on other consoles. They may sell OK on the Wii but when you consider just how many Wii's are in the marketplace the sales figures are not impressive for the AAA 3rd party titles.
There's no multiplat games I would consider must haves on the Wii....
And let us not forget DMA Design, which became Rockstar North... The creators/developers of Grand Theft Auto
Oh, and Mobius Entertainment, that became Rockstar Leeds, and have been pretty successful on handheld platforms (GTA Chinatown wars).
Then there's a few legends of coding... David Braben (Frontier studio) and Jeff Minter
Also, Sumo Digital - Outrun and Virtua Tennis on consoles
Realtime Worlds - Crackdown, (and APB in development) <...
To me it's simple... Chrome may be faster, but Firefox + add-ons make my browsing experience more effective and efficient.
Until Chrome matches the features I can add to Firefox I won't change.
Plus the latest FF beta's are said to be a lot faster.
Given MS' business practices I bet the dollar signs lit up in their eyes when they realised they could not only charge the customer for a LIVE subscription, but the publishers as well... j/k (or is it!)
A different way of looking at this is that if publishers do not put PAID DLC on the PSN because of the cost per Gig, then they don't have much faith in their product to recoup their costs.
This article is speculation, and not hard facts.
The excitement is almost palpable!! :)
I fear total melted brains from some N4G members if the 360 ever hits 5k and the PS3 50k...!
If PC developers are to be believed the PC as a gaming platform is in rude and vibrant health - so why are there so few adventure (and specifically point-and-click) games on PC?
It seems to me that gamers, both PC and console, have evolved and left Adventure games behind.
It's a bit of a shame, but I also think it's an excuse to blame the Playstation.
I consider myself a console and PC gamer, and like a broad range of genres. I would be happy to b...
Agree.
As much as I love the MGS games (except Sons of Liberty), the story has always been interesting but clunky to put it mildly.
The King is dead, long live the King?
MS took on IBM and won, Google is taking on MS and is winning (in some areas).
The difficulty in pursuing the anti-trust line against Google is that it's a bit harder to pin them down.
MS created Windows. From that platform they could leverage their products in to the Windows experience (Internet Explorer, desktop search, media player etc etc). Also they can control how 'open' they make their OS/API's to comp...
This game is a classic.
It added features that revolutionised the industry (Z-Targetting for one).
Now it may be dated. But for those of us lucky enough to play it when it launched it was an unforgettable experience.
Is this game overrated? Absolutely not.
To claim OoT is overrated is to show an ignorance of games, the industry and the history of gaming...
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. And after reading that article I'm glad I'm nothing more than a gamer ignorant to the technical BS.
You can keep your normal maps, I don't really know what they are, or care whether they are in KZ2 or not. You can keep your painted shadows, it made no difference to my experience.
Killzone 2 is a solid FPS made better by great art direction. Not once, during the whole game did I ever stop and analyse the technical details of the ga...
@xg
You are absolutely right. Games are about more than texture quality and individual frame fidelity.
I've played Gears 2, KZ2 and Crysis.
Crysis may be a technically more accomplished engine, but I felt the game was a bit sterile. It lacked punch and immersion.
Creatively Gears 2 is awesome. Some of the art direction and scale was immense.
KZ2 has a level of detail I've never seen in games. Every moment is so ful...
This is certainly something we could debate all day! :)
There's no doubt KZ2 has raised the bar in terms of graphics - but my argument is, 'so what?'
Devs will make the best use of the tools available, and no amount of desire, ambition or will in the world is going to improve a game limited by the tools, budget or release schedule.
Sony/GG could license out the engine, but only PS3 exclusive devs are going to pick it up as it's so intrinsicly lin...
Well, yes and no.
KZ2 is just a damn fine FPS game. Nothing about it really screams innovation, but I don't see that as a bad thing. It ticks all the boxes for a great AAA game. People who love CoD4 or Gears 2 more than KZ2 are entirely entitled to that opinion.
Every developer is trying to make the best game possible, and I'm sure KZ2 will be seen as 'competition'. Developers are competitive creatures in their coding/artwork/audio etc domains.

The author of this article is not a journalist and appears that even blogger may be a generous title too far.
Capitulation = surrender... Was that really what you meant, or was it the word of the day on your desk calendar?
At the very least fact check your writing (Hint: Jaffe is not involved with GoW3).
God of War has NEVER been overrated. When it was launched it was a refreshing reminder of how good action games could be.
God of War 2 b...
There is the argument that instead of wasting time and effort banning people they work on plugging the holes in their game.
As a previous poster mentioned, some of the worst glitches have been in since beta.
Buggy software FTW, lets get out the ban stick!!
I say this in relation to all developers, not just GG.
