@horris39

Totally agree.

I'm sick of constantly seeing these '2009 is year of the 360' - when the year is almost half over and I've not bought a single 360 game in '09.

As an avid gamer I want a good spread of games throughout the year. I hate the idea that 2009 is actually just the last 3-4 months of the year.

I cann understand that this is the most profitable for devs/publishers. But what's wrong with launching a game now (like i...

As a gamer, and someone interested in the industry... Yep, I care about it.

Can't wait to sit back and see the coverage unfold.

This year, the perfect E3 (for me) would contain...

Sony firming up more release dates (even if they are 2010) and announcing a couple of new IP would be great. There's enough good news coming out of Sony that they really just need to consolidate the info we already know, but a few surprises would not go amiss. An announ...

I can see where you're coming from but I don't agree it's racist to dismiss a genre in this way - narrow minded and stupid, yes. But racist, no.

Sure, people can take a stereotypical view that all JRPG's are the same. But there is a grain of truth in some of these labels - how many hundreds of JRPG's have we seen with a 'troubled androgenous main character', for example?

What it shows is a narrow minded viewpoint, but not a racist viewpoint.

It is...

How can 2009 be the year of the 360 when we are half way through and there's been almost no decent games on the 360?

SFIV wasn't that hot; and if a GTA expansion pack is the best we have then something is seriously wrong.

Does 2009 now start when E3 finishes? That's ridiculous. I want to play games all through the year, not just between Sept and Dec.

I've not bought a 360 game since Fable 2 and Gears 2 last year. 2009 is nearly half over.

I think a reason JRPG's have been seen to decline is because the developers know their biggest market is in the West.

Capcom and SquareEnix (at least) have come out and said they are trying to make more Western-centric games. And that's where the problem lies. Many people loved their quirky games because they had a different style and feel.

Any developer Western or Eastern dev that tries to bend their skills to fit a target audience, and widen the appeal of the...

I totally agree with your comment until the JRPG rant at the end. You made some really good points up until then.

Hating on JRPG's is not racist in the slightest. JRPG is a genre, they are games that generally have a similar style/feel/theme. Put 10 RPG's next to each other and most gamers will be able to differentiate between the JRPG's and WRPG's.

No one is making a judgement based on ethnicity. Saying it's racist to like/dislike JRPG's is like saying that s...

It's just kinda fun. Sure it's no more than an e-peen contest, but it also allows each company to set out their stall, to show the world what they are doing.

It may be fodder and ammo for fanboys, but it does have a greater importance. A good E3 showing may help someone sitting on the fence decide which console to buy for instance.

For someone like me (I own all current gen consoles) it's a useful measure of which brand is going to have a strong 09/10 and what ...

Sony's momentum has really been increasing over the last 12+ months. A steady stream of annnouncements and actual releases have really improved their standing with me.

Sony are certainly going in to E3 with a strong line up. I just hope there will be a few surprises to back up the stuff we already know.

The great thing is, Sony isn't relying on a few core franchises, they are also showing diversity and innovation. New IP like LittleBigPlanet and inFamous are co...

Well, considering that arguments people get in to on this site over pointless stuff then E3 will be decided on the following formula.

(Size of booth / number of booth babes) * units sold to date

At no point should you make the mistake of factoring in the 'quality of games'. And of course the figure for 'units sold to date' should only contain those regions/countries that support your argument.

:)

Yeah, I hadn't heard that it was cancelled - just that it was put on hold for a while.

I am half expecting a 'Peter Jackson's Halo' announcement at E3.

I have a feeling this E3 may be a big one. The last few have been very poor - and not just because of the new low key format.

When the biggest announcement last year was Final Fantasy (a series that was never exclusive) going multi-plat, you know something is wrong!!

I'm certainly excited by what MS and Sony have to say/show.

Sony have plenty of stuff already announced, so I don't think they need to do much to have a strong E3. Firm up a few relea...

@Foxgod...

Just a small correction in your statement

"NPD has posted month after month that the 360 outsells the ps3 globally"

NPD does not report global sales - only US.

I'm not arguing who is outselling who - but that part of your post is patently wrong.

Well, some may argue that 2009 started on Jan 1, and by the time E3 comes along almost half the year will have gone by and I haven't bought a single game for my 360 this year...

So yes, the 2009 line-up is lame.

Will it still be lame after E3 2009? - I'm starting to not care.

Lol Sony Rulz.

The 360 is already starting to feel last gen, so MS really need to do something to pull the Xbox brand up to the PS3's level.

You can talk profit and 'winning' all you want, but out of the 360 and PS3 - my 360 is gathering dust and the PS3 is in consant use.

If MS cut the life cycle of the 360 short I won't be buying the Next Xbox. I got burned once as I bought the original Xbox, I won't be so forgiving if the 360 gets dropped in a ...

Well, on one hand you have the devs saying 'we have logs showing the person played for 3 hours, come and check them out', and on the other we have a reviewer saying 'I played for 9 hours, honest'.

Neither seems to have a particularly solid case.

Does the game not have a /played command! :)

EDIT: On a side note, do you honestly think that 9 hours spent in an MMO is enough time to honestly review a game? Even if the controls are horrible, the way th...

I didn't disagree with you, but often my first play through of JRPG's is with English VO's, and a second play through at a later date with Japanese VO's if available.

It gives the game a different feel, and considering that a significant number of English VO's are pretty terrible it often adds a better sense of drama to the cutscenes.

I wouldn't miss the Japanese VO's if they are not on PS3 or 360, but it is a nice extra for those people who like that sort of thi...

Bad journalism. Eurogamer stinks if this is true.

I've been visiting their site for a long time, but their reviews have become more and more outlandish over the last year or so.

Looks to me like the contributor they used for this review has been busted, and they are now trying to dig themselves out of a hole.

If they believed in the review they wouldn't need to get someone to re-review it for them (conflict of interest anyone??), as other reviews f...

Adding a true motion control system (opposed to the rather poor SIXAXIS), is a great thing.

Sony isn't suddenly going to stop creating hardcore games. They are simply opening up the Playstation brand even further. Sony had the casual market tapped far earlier than Nintendo - EyeToy, SingStar etc. This is just an extension of that.

Plus there will definitely be some developers who actually create a fantastic hardcore game using the controls. Sony has already s...

The author of this article should get a clue.

Flamebait title, just for hits?

Could the author alude to who else is favouring the 360? Especially in light of the insanity yesterday where it was revealed Capcom have 15 games this year on PS3 vs 12 on 360, and 13 in 2010 vs 12.

Also your title seems a bit stupid due to the fact that Sega has heavily supported the PS3 this gen (and in previous gens). Valkyria Chronicles (which you vaguely mention in ...
