Guess I'm just an old and jaded gamer who has heard the hype far too many times! :)
The Next Xbox must be QUIETER - if they solve that issue I'll be pretty happy.
Other improvements...
A huge, and preferably user replaceable hard drive.
Built in WiFi.
Improve the design of the box - get rid of the cheap feel plastic, swappable faceplates and the off-white colour.
More USB ports - front and back
Blu-Ray drive
I'm not even going to mention reliability, as I'm confident that the new Xbox will be as bullet proof ...
Score another one for well researched journalism. <sigh>
I'm intruiged, but not convinced by this game... yet.
The Splinter Cell series has been a bit too variable in fun factor. So I'm going to wait and see what happens with this one.
It's great that it's getting so much praise, but other than the graphics and a few minor innovations, the actual gameplay footage hasn't convinced me... yet.
It was easy to spot this story as untrue...
If French retailers were serious they would already have gone on strike and blockaded the ports...
/jk (but not really!)
:)
I'm in the opposite camp.
I think Trophies and Achievements add loads to games.
A tricky to obtain Trophy may make the gamer think of different ways of playing a game.
I played Crackdown a lot, and loved the game for what it was. But the Achievements made the game even better, and most importantly they were fun. Achievements compliment a game.
Same for inFamous. The Trophies gained for pulling off some of the more outlandish stunts/kills,...
@Playinb3yond
Yeah, same here. It's a little annoying, especially the first time it happened and I had no clue.
Definitely started happening after the 2.80 firmware update.
Maybe Sony are being @assholes.
But there are a few Trophy websites, and this is the only one complaining (at the moment).
I use the Playfire service, and at the moment it's working fine. If Sony have an issue with sites creating Trophy Cards I would imagine they would block all of them. Perhaps we shall see over the next few days.
However, if Sony are just about to launch a service of their own, then I can understand why they are doing this.
I know this is completely off topic, but has anyone else noticed that firmware 2.80 has added support for up to 8 controllers? Or at the very least introduced a bug for the Guitar Hero instruments (they sometimes default to '7', and lights 4 and 3 on the controller light up. Have also had this happen once on a DS3 controller.
I have a feeling it's the first roll-out towards the Motion Controllers launch. :)
On topic - I've not noticed it happening on Playfire.com, ...
If anyone has played Demon's Souls... I'm sure they'd agree that almost every encounter is an Oh Sh!t moment!! :)
Would also say the Hydra fight in God of War was pretty awesome.
Blind logic FTW eh Gamer_Politics?!!
MS beating Sony is OK, but MS losing to Nintendo is to be swept under the carpet. Lol!
Meus, you got rid of your PS3 for a 360?
With the line up of games coming for the PS3, and the stuff already launched this year?
Wow, you must have a serious need for a noisy unreliable DVD player!! /jk :)
I'm not seeing many games worth playing the 360 right now. I guess going back to the titles launched in 2007 might be worth it, but not a lot has been worth the ticket price since. (and I say this as a disappointed Day 1, 360 owner)
It wouldn't surprise me. Nvidia's problems with the 8series GPU's and arrogance in admitting the issue has finally come back to bite them.
I heard a rumor Dell are doing the same thing.
I don't think this tells us anything at all.
It's one guys portfolio. If you you've done work on the PS3, and are looking to get further work on PS3 - then it makes sense to show off what you have done on that platform!
Really? I think you'd be hard pressed to find a PC that doesn't stream music over Last.fm if it has an up-to-date browser.
I'm arguing against this because Last.fm is free to vast majority of people who use it, I can access it through my PC, PS3, or Android phone widget for nothing - and yet MS give Silver account holders only 3 hours a month - and make the full implementation part of a paid for service.
Giving people access to Last.fm through Live doesn't cost MS a...
Possibly coincidence, but we have 3 PS3's in the family and 1 broke while playing W@W - we're still waiting for the disc to be returned by Sony as it was stuck in the drive!! We had the YLOD.
The other two are fine, even though one (my brothers) is playing CoD 4 or W@W constantly!!
Also, I was watching a 'fix YLOD error yourself' video on Youtube. And at the end the guy proved the unit was fixed by hitting eject... Out popped W@W!! :)
There is a distin...
Lol.
So a service I use regularly on my PC for free is restricted to only Gold account holders on the 360. Whatever!
I've not tried it, but I assume the Last.fm site can be accessed through the PS3 browser... Maybe Sony should look in to charging people to access certain websites... It's obviously working for MS!
There's one reason only for this 'difficult' decision... Money.
Cutting out LAN party play makes it a tiny bit less appealing to pirate it.
I have no doubt someone will get around the problem and this move by Blizz will have almost zero impact on those who would pirate the game... But certainly for those who pirated the original SC to play on LAN's, ripping SCII may not be so appealing.
Flower is a really unique experience, but I wouldn't put it at #1.
For me, SSHD is still the powerhouse PSN game. I've put so many hours in to the game it's crazy.
Hopefully now that Sony have put in place the scheme to help fund devs who make exclusives on PSN, we'll see the quality and quantity increase even more.
Right now, for all the blustering and noise MS make about the Live service, their XBLA titles do not come close (except Geometry Wars...
@Thanatos - When I was typing it, I did think it sounded suspiciously like a PS3! :)
@edge - Unfortunately I had a day 1 360 which was like a hairdryer/jet engine. I'm on my third warranty 360 now, and unfortunately all have been older models - so still noisy. :(
I agree, the PS3 isn't as silent as some people claim - my 60GB's fan makes is quite loud at full speed - which can be distracting when watching movies.
