The Perfect Storm... Xmas 2007 was a fantastic time to own a 360 - since then, it's been very meh!
Seems to me the 360 is getting an easy ride in the press. Fable 2 was good last year but suffered many of the problems the first had. The only high point since 2007 has been Gears 2, and even that was a little over hyped.
Both PS3 and 360 have a decent line up, but I just can't get excited about the 360's, and have no plans to buy any of the games launching this year for it.
I may pick up Alan Wake and Splinter Cell when they hit budget price. I'm done with Halo - so Bungie will have to really pull something out of the bag with ODST to convince me to go back after Halo 2 and 3 sucked so much (SP, not MP)
I've said it before; I really dislike how MS condenses their gaming year in to a...
Specifically I was thinking of DVD (which is limiting games like Rage) and low capacity hard drives (which would need adressing if MS want to go 100% download) and the swing towards GPGPU and Cell style architecture.
Yet you get all defensive about the CPU! Lol!
The 360 is more traditional in it's design - no bad thing - but the landscape is changing, which is exactly why I mentioned that MS might have a more difficult path to design their next console.

I'm always happy to hear about new IP... but I'd love to see Bungie bring Myth up to date with a bang.
Saves Lens of Truth a job then....
On one hand... How much is this game really costing most people per hour... Even at the higher price point it's phenomenal value.
On the other hand... Activision are only doing this because they know they can gouge us.
Activision should be rewarding us for supporting CoD over the years and buying so many copies, and DLC - not punishing us for their own gain.
For me MW2 WAS a Day 1 purchase. But I won't support this behavior, so won't pick the game up ...
Wahay... Untested sloppy patches FTW!
Forums are already filling up with people (particularly those who bought through Steam - like me) stating that audio stops working after patch; and also many text labels are not displaying correctly...
Shame... Good game otherwise...
:(
Well it wouldn't be the first time we've seen fanboys (on both sides) cherry pick figures for their own benefit! :)
This 'news' is interesting as a wider discussion point, so although darkride has put a very negative slant on this, there is something in the information.
For example... MS have had a better YoY result - but have we now seen the recession really start to bite? Seems to me the answer is Yes.
So... does this point to the industry being...
Of course they will - the question is...
What will the specs be.
Nintendo's success at iterating existing tech has worked very well for them.
I would anticipate that both Sony and MS will come out with similar hardware in the next gen to their current consoles. We're already seeing smaller graphical gains in each generation jump, so adding value for the customer, and ensuring profitability for the manufacturer will be key in the next cycle.
...
Looking at the economy, and MS' competitors...
....I'm not sure we can read too much in to this 'news'.
The only time for concern is IF (and it's a HUGE IF) Sony and Nintendo have not had as much of a downturn....
The graphics lack a bit of anti-aliasing, but the art direction, atmosphere, and the overall look/feel is awesome.
The game is so immersive, and with more OMG moments than any I have played in a long time.
I'm not sure about that Kushan. I've beat the game a few times on the PC, and later levels require some fast clicking to collect Sunshine and coins.
My concern would be how they implement the fast switching between plant types (I assume using the bumpers), which should be OK I suppose. But whizzing the cursor around to pick stuff up may be a little clunky.
We shall see I guess. I'm sure they will do a good job.
If anyone is interested this game is on Steam for less than 6quid at the moment.
I would really recommend it.
As far as I know there has been no announcement for a Euro release.
If it sells OK in NA then maybe we'll get a launch - but for a niche title like this I'm not sure they will bother as the extra cost for sticking French, Spanish etc VO's on the disc may not be worth it.
Import from NA may be best option.
I've been playing the Asian version for months and it works fine - fantastic game.
Your opinion is respected, even if I don't agree... at all! :)
However I suspect there are an awful lot of people who are heaping praise on the original game but probably never played it - just because it's cool to be seen as supporting a cult or niche title. Same thing happened with Psychonauts.
If so many gamers claim to love the first game - how come it sold so poorly!! :)
Perhaps testing the waters? See what the public/gamer reaction is to the news of canceling a game we know nothing about?
Seems strange they would create such a high quality teaser trailer, claim it was 'leaked', and then claim the game may never be launched.
Something fishy I think...
I think some people are confusing 'Pixar style' with 'Pixar quality'.
Ratchet and Clank is the closest game we have seen to a Pixar CGI animation, in terms of style, look, feel, mood, humour and so on. But for actual quality, as you guys have said, it lags behind.
However, just because R&C graphics are not on the same level as Pixar CGI, we shouldn't overlook what a phenomenal job Insomniac have done.
Also, it doesn't really matter the graphic...
Asking a question like that is asking for fanboy retaliation! :)
As much as I love my PS3, I would have to say Lair and Haze.
I thought the motion controls in Lair were actually alright once I got used to them - the problem was the game was just dull and boring.
Haze was just far too generic. It was average at best (but not as bad as some people make out).
Motorstorm is on the edge of average/good to me. There was nothing particula...
The great thing about Ratchet and Clank games are that they have...
Great graphics
Interesting story
Humourous characters
AND phenomenal game play.
I feel sorry for the people who claim R&C games are 'kiddie' and dismiss them so quickly.
The game was announced for PC and 360 - but no date for 360 launch. Gamespot and IGN both have Champions Online pages for the 360 version (no shots or anything though)
No plans for PS3 version as far as I know, although I did notice a couple of sites in the UK are listing a PS3 version for pre-order, which I think is a typo (Play.com being one). I'm 99% sure it will not come to PS3.
