Yeah, I like tech info.

The article did little more than say 'Just look at the damn thing!! It's amazing!!' (Which it is).

Yeah, cus pioneering OLED display; working on the Cell / Blu-Ray; and pushing 3DTV really shows it's lost it's way! They may not have invented all these things, but they've invested in them and helped develop them and are now looking to push them to consumers.

Sure Sony no longer has that aura it once had - where even though their products were more expensive they had the quality and design to (almost) match the price tag. But they still make good stuff.

If anything...

I've completed the game once, and for me the biggest flaw - even bigger than the plot holes - was the graphics.

Screen tearing has never bothered me before, but in this game it did. And there were one or two occasions when characters walked through each other - this really destroys the sense of immersion. But my biggest criticisms were the camera, and the way characters walked and interacted. It was very wooden and took the edge off an amazing experience.

But I st...

What??? I'm allowed an opinion!?!! No way! On N4G I'm allowed an opinion? Seriously?

<shakes head in disbelief>

And all this time I thought that having an opinion made me a fanboy.

Big Deal if the 360 version is at 576!! MS are going to market the heck out of this game, and do you really think SE or MS care about the res when they see the cash flowing in?

If you only own a 360 then I doubt you'll care what the res is. Sure some of the extreme 360 fanboys will be butt hurt, and claim some minor advantage over PS3 by any desperate means; but the average gamer is not even going to notice.

How many games have we had this gen that have run at less...

Wow, Halo certainly polarises the N4G population!

We've got the PS3 fans who think Halo sucks, and the 360 fans frothing at the mouth with rabid praise for all things Halo.

And if you're one of the few with a middle of the road opinion it's impossible to have a discussion about anything! (Not that I really come to N4G for discussion - I'm here for the Lulz! :) )

I don't think Halo is anything special. The MP is not my thing, the SP lacks decent story te...

@ 1.10 BeaArthur

I agree EA are just as hungry for profit as they have always been - but what current publisher isn't!?

I don't agree with the DLC policy they employ, but we've seen the same stuff from Capcom for example. At least EA seem to have shifted away from the yearly roll-out of key IP's such as Madden etc (which were little more than full price boxed 'DLC'!!), and are now throwing a few new IP's in to the mix (like Mirror's Edge or Dead Space).

@sikbeta

To be honest we don't know what agreements IW have had with Activision.

Maybe IW managed to negotiate a royalties deal. Or maybe the royalties are part of a bonus package if the game sells over X copies or makes X amount of money.

I'm not sure who owns the IP (probably Activision though). As IW was formed in 2002 and didn't join Activision for a year or so they may have been able to get themselves a deal on the CoD name. Maybe that's why Activ...

@mastiffchild

I dunno mastiff. I think IW had good intentions when they moved to Activision. I doubt they did it purely out of financial gain or to cut corners and have an easy life.

I think they simply got pressured by Activision, and were not able to deliver their vision. Activision seem intent on making CoD a franchise, and it has fallen in to the same trap EA found itself in with Madden and Need for Speed etc.

Everything about MW2 smacks of a deve...

Unbelievably, Activision actually seem intent on outdoing EA as biggest douches in the industry!

At least EA realised the error in their ways and have done something about it. Activision don't seem to have learned anything from EA's past behaviour.

I wonder if Blizzard are also thinking they made a mistake signing up to Activision! (Especially after the recent 'WoW could become obsolete' comments).

Seriously davekaos. What are you trying to achieve with this constant spamming of every PS3 problem thread with the exact same post?

You're not adding any new info, and only speculating.

Big deal if the problem corrects itself at midnight. I'd rather the problem disappear at midnight than have to wait another day or two for a patch!

I've got a Euro 60GB PS3 too. It's sat next to me right now, and I'm desperate to play some more Heavy Rain (but I'm working from home today)!!

Hopefully this will all be sorted out soon as I'd hate to lose those damn meaningless Trophies I've spent so much time collecting!! :)

Yeah, my favourite quote from the article "I mean Sony have been in this buisness for a long time and a big screw up by them is not at all possible."

Lol.

It's a goddam conspiracy I tell ya! Teh PS3 is hacked!

Looks to me like someone just made a huge FUBAR in the BIOS code of some models. So the internal clock has gone out of whack! Or there's a date/time issue on the Sony servers when syncing Trophies.

So when a player boots a ...

Well done for a sensible off-topic comment from an obvious gamer!

There may be 100million+ PS2 owners, but looking at the fairly healthy sales of the old warhorse PS2 even now - there's a lot of people who won't be moving to any 'next gen' console any time soon.

That 100mill people are going to take a very long time to migrate; and it could be argued that some of them may have migrated to Wii.

I agree with divideby0

I bought my 360 at launch - have had two failures, so now on my third.

Last time I played my 360 was Jan 2009, and the only two full games I played in 2008/2009 were Fable 2 and Gears 2.

If I hadn't already owned a 360 I would never have bought one just for those two games. And 2010 isn't really exciting me. ME2 played on PC. I will wait and see how good AW really is. Not interested in Halo. So MS don't have much for me except ...

I don't use my 360 much these days, and have migrated more towards the PS3.

But I don't really see how anything other than the poor reliability can be considered a failure. You only have to look at the increase in market share between the XBox/PS3/GC gen and now to see MS have made huge progress.

I don't understand why fanboys are so desperate for the competition to fail. Competition in the marketplace is a GOOD thing.

Arguing about how good/bad a co...

Sony have made some big mistakes with the PS3 - but I don't think this list reflects that at all.

The single biggest problem with the PS3 was the time it took to lower the price, and giving the competition a head start. Everything else is a minor factor, and certianly nothign to do with a bungled launch (MS had worse stock level issues when the 360 launched).

The launch line-up of the PS3 (from a European perspective) was pretty great. I think it was just as good a...

Pretty much the only reason I visit N4G is to see the rabid fanboys arguing over pointless things.

Just got to see the funny side of this site. It's unintentionally hilarious!

When are publishers going to realise that the ONLY people they are punishing with their DRM is the legit buyers.

It is insane that the people who pirate this game game are getting a BETTER user experience than those who paid their hard earned cash.

I'm not saying we should get rid of DRM - but there has to be a smarter way of reducing piracy than loading up on draconian DRM.

With EPIC's recent statement along the lines that they are basically up for sale... Wonder if Apple might have a sniff. UE3 seems a good fit for iPad and iPhone.

MS might have to get in there quickly.
