The important thing is that online play remains free.
I'd really like cloud storage for my saves, so I could access them on any PS3 I logged in to (or at least some sort of backup in case of YLOD). I'd probably pay a nominal fee for that.
As a full price PS3 or 360 purchase I would have been disappointed - but luckily I got it on PC at a discount!
But from start to finish I enjoyed it, and am looking forward to picking up the DLC. The huge range of weapons was what made it for me. The game is a little rough around the edges, and could have done with some more vehicles - but I'll definitely go back and play through again as a different character when I get chance.
Don't agree with Borderlands being on the list - I loved that game!
No, that's not what I was saying at all...
I wouldn't let a kid play either. It would be irresponsible and bad parenting to allow it.
My point - which you seem to have missed - is that the author is saying they WOULD allow a kid to play CoD. The author also seems to implying the ratings system is broken because some games are more mature than others. Which is exactly why I said it was a matter of perspective.
It's a matter of perspective...
The author states that they would let their little brother play a Call of Duty game. But to me, the violence in CoD (a human character vs a human character) is more realistic than the obviously fantasy violence in Dante's Inferno.
The same could be said for films - Some people will find a 15 rated film about drugs less 'offensive' than a 15 rated film containing violence and visa verse.
This isn't just about a possible pr...
And how large was the PS2's install base when FFX and FFXII launched vs the PS3's current install base in Japan????
Anyone wanna work out the attach rate for FFX, XII and XIII? I reckon XIII is doing just fine!
Did they mention what the search criteria was?
I bet there's a lot of people searching for 'Are there any games worth buying on XBox360 this Xmas'
.
There's a big difference between cheats, exploits and glitches.
It's is the responsibility of the developer to fix a glitch. Until they do, people are free to use it.
Why should people (even if they are idiots) be punished for an oversight in Infinity Ward's QA?
I don't agree with banning people for using the Javelin glitch. IW just need to pull their finger out and get the patch through QA.
I played the demo, but really wasn't impressed - so I can't understand the hype, and perfect scores it's been getting. It's a good game - but a perfect score game? No way.
I keep hearing fans of the game say 'the demo isn't the full game'. But a demo is intended to market a product. So if the demo doesn't appeal, then I'm not going to buy it.
I may pick it up when it hits budget price.
You're not the only one!
ModNation looks like the best kart racing game since the SNES version of Mario Kart!!
It's a real shame when games that look like they have potential are canned.
My list would also include..
Eyedentify
Frame City Killer
Alien - RPG project
And I always wondered what might have been for The Roots, on Xbox 1.
A lot of people claim DS is 'hard', but I didn't think so.
The game was just challenging. DS is all about learning how to play the game, and becoming more skillful.
Gamers these days are so used to having their hand held through a game that they have forgotten (or for the younger gamers, probably never known) what a true hardcore game is. It's not about the difficulty curve, it's about player skill.
Good post.
Only bit I disagree with is having enemies respawn in different locations.
Part of what I loved about DS is that it almost felt like a schmup at times. Knowing the exact placement of enemies, and knowing exactly how to dispatch them was great. Even after countless hours of gaming I still loved seeing some of the low end enemies which had totally owned me the first couple of times I encountered them, but now posed no challenege at all - it was kinda remi...
Of course Valve is going to fix Steam quicker when it comes to their own games. They know them better, and they have been developed with Steam integration in mind.
For Valve to fix/patch Steam when it comes to a game another dev has made it's obviously going to take a lot longer time to understand what the problem is, get the fix coded, put it through testing and so on.
It's not in Valve's interest to delay fixing Steam. The platform makes money selling games! If ...
I'd have to agree.
RRoD annoys the hell out of me (I'm on my 3rd 360), but I can kinda live with it compared to the lack of exclusives. Afterall - how can my 360 get RRoD when it's never turned on!! :)
At the moment my 360 is packed away, I just don't use it. Last games I played on it were Gears 2 and Fable 2. 2009 has been awful.
MS selling off some of it's 1st party studios was not a great idea - but it didn't really matter. On the face of it, when ...
I've always been the sort of person to avoid the hype, and I buy games on merit. I loved the old CoD games, and loved MW1, so naturally bought MW2.
But if there's one thing this generation of gaming has taught me is that past performance is no guarantee of future quality.
MW2 is probably the last MW game I'll buy. Same for Halo, GTA, Fable, and Metal Gear. Final Fantasy is on it's last chance with XIII, and so is GT5.
It's not that I bought in to the ...
To be honest, almost every technology company is like that... The only difference is MS have had the deep pockets to invest in lots of ideas - both good and bad, and not care too much if it got burned.
But you could just as easily argue that Sony are no better - Look at all the proprietry formats Sony have tried to push on to consumers.
And Nintendo's Virtual Boy has to be one of the biggest flops in gaming history.
Cautiously optimistic is my approach to the 360's 2010 line-up.
As a 360 owner 2009 has been a really bad year for games.
There's nothing announced so far that has really got me interested for 2010, so I'm hoping that their 'shock and awe' tactics amount to more than just hot air and spending millions on marketing.
I still can't understand how hardcore gamers are so excited about Natal. I can see potential in the device, but I can also see shovelware an...
Enjoyed the demo - it's not ALL about the visuals.
This will fill in nicely until GOWIII appears.
