Fable games have never been graphics showcases, but the art direction has always been brilliant.

The following two games are worth a purchase if you can get them at a budget price.

Fable 2
Blue Dragon

Neither game is AAA in my opinion, but are good to kill a few hours.

But tbh, Crackdown will eat hours of your life if you let it. And Dead Rising is still one of my fave games, even with it's slightly clunky controls.

Agree Fishy. That's my feeling too.

Shame it won't be on PC. But if it turns out to be a good game I'll dust off the 360 for it.

I've also been a long time fan of Peter's games; since the first days of Bullfrog. Populous, Syndicate and so on were classics that changed gaming and defined genres.

But recently I've just not been seeing that spark. Maybe he's too bogged down in the corporate BS to really be effective these days. Or maybe Lionhead just doesn't have the capabilities to fulfil his ambition (or maybe it's time/money pressure from MS). Who knows.

This may come across as flame bait ...

Is it because it'll be the third Fable game with an ending that sucked? /jk

I'm glad a magazine seems to be using the full scoring system for a game - I've had plenty of fun from games that 'only' scored 7/10

Sometimes it seems like mags/websites rate some AAA titles between 90 and 100, and don't have the balls to rate titles lower.

So I'll be buying FFXIII, and hopefully it'll live up to my expectations.

Seems to be at least partly based on how far you upgraded the Normandy before the suicide mission.

I've not read an FAQ to confirm.

I agree.

The single biggest problem with any game that adds 'morality' to the character development, is that it's rarely nuanced enough.

In Fable 2 I only ever had to make one big moral decision - and that was the moment I pressed the start button for the first time - and had to mentally decide whether to play the game to become 'bad', or 'good'. All other choices in the game were dictated by that initial choice.

Same thing for Shepard. I made some dec...

The country needs money coming in to the treasury to get us out of the red, and to build those things you are suggesting chalmers.

But a hospital is not a profit making entity; and although a massive chunk of the national income comes from individual taxes, a huge chunk also comes from trade.

By giving tax breaks the government is essentially investing in profitable areas of the UK - which will then generate (and offset) any tax break. This generates jobs which can ...

Charmers, that's a really ill-thought out viewpoint.

Giving tax breaks encourages businesses to set up and trade in the country - the more businesses the more goods are produced and the more money made in 'other' taxes (such as exports). This is turn can lead to keeping taxes lower for the common man.

Tax breaks does not mean zero tax.

Funniest comment so far.

I agree Callahan09; but what I was trying to get across with that comparison is that consoles are just consumer electronics - just like DVD players.

Sports teams is a better analogy for the argumentative behaviour of fanboys - but at least with sports there's a human interest and proper competitive element. In consoles the fact that one console has sold more than the other is not a competition that has any bearing on the enjoyment of the product.

Plus, most people w...

I agree, I have no idea why people get so rabid about sales so much. It's not like you see Samsung and Panasonic fans arguing over who sold most DVD players!

However, I do have a vague interest in sales because they are interesting for gauging the market.

For example, 360 has sold more in US than other territories - so I'm interested in how that is impacting game development (i.e. are we seeing more western shooters because of particular territory dominance).

Two different games from two different genres on two different platforms.

Yep... Looks like a valid comparison to me! /s

Both games are fantastic. I've completed UC2, and am currently playing ME2.

The only difference (if I were nitpicking) is that UC2 is a slightly more polished game and that ME2 is a little glitchy at times - but to say one is better than the other is pointless.

Video game journalism has a looong way to go before it becomes...

I thought it was confirmed shortly after E3 that FFXIV was only a timed exclusive on PS3?

I really disliked the installs in MGS4. They were far worse than disc swapping.

The days of disc swapping need to end...

It may not affect this game (it sounds painfully linear anyway), but in future it WILL limit some games (Rage seems like a prime candidate).

So while I have no issue with disc swapping right now, I think people need to face up to the fact that having a game on one (big) disc opens up more potential for those developers who want/need it.

Disc swapping IS a limiting factor in planning/developing a game for some deve...

Good point Killjoy! :)

Be interesting to see if GT5 does the same sort of numbers as previous versions.

PS3 exclusives sell fine. They just don't sell Halo numbers.

But Halo is the exception, not the rule.

Hmm, as a subscriber I'm not sure about this.

The problem I have with this is, there are a lot of gaps in the content in CO. Almost every level suffers from thin content which makes the game a bit boring - especially when levelling an Alt.

So most subscribers are angry because filling in content gaps should not cost the player base.

New areas, a raise in level cap (plus the content to go with it), and major new features are stuff I'd be happy to pay for...
