It's amazing how one game can change the perception of a developer.
Normally I would have pre-ordered a game like Red Dead in a heartbeat.
But after the BS that was GTAIV, and the overblown review scores, I am now cautious about getting this game until I hear a bit more gamer feedback rather than media feedback.
I dunno about this...
With current levels of technology what can a PSP2 actually bring to the table?
Built in camera?
Built in GPS?
Dual analogue sticks?
Touch screen?
3D?
More CPU/GPU power?
OLED screen?
All these things are nice to have, but are more like a hardware refresh rather than a new PSP2 - because the underlying power of the PSP still hasn't been maxed out.

@Ares84PS3
Yeah, I'd be genuinely interested in your thoughts form the Beta. I've heard the driving model is a bit heavy which seems wrong for a Kart game.
I wasn't in the Beta, so I'm really interested in playing the demo before buying it as the handling model makes or breaks a racing game.
We already know that 2010 is going to be an amazing year for gaming - so I'm not overly concerned if E3 turns out to be the usual FUD, smoke and mirrors and waiting for a megaton announcement that never happens! But I have a feeling this could be one of the most interesting E3's for years.
MS will be all about hardware and maybe their usual ploy of one big software announcement. Splitting their presentations in to Natal and non-Natal is pretty smart. I think they...
Yeah definitely.
When all is said and done this generation people may look back and see things like the Sony pushing amazing graphics, Microsoft pushing online play, and Nintendo disrupting the industry with motion controls as the defining characteristics of the generation - but for me the shift to easy to create user generated content is the single most important thing.
I know PC's have had user content for years - but what the platform has always lacked...
Mainly it's because 1st and 2nd party devs like Naughty Dog and Insomniac etc have mastered the PS3 and have the direct support of the hardware/software guys in Sony.
So if 3rd party dev like Infinity Ward is struggling with a particular aspect of PS3 coding or optimisation, then one of the devs closer to Sony can help out as they've probably already encountered and overcome that problem.
Sony wants all games - even multi-plats - to Ierform as well as...
@Qui-Gon
But what have MS really lost?
They had already cut the cord on Bungie long before the Activision deal was announced.
MS still own the IP for Halo.
Plus, look at Bungie's history... When MS bought the developer they were developing a Halo RTS and had only Marathon (nice but not exactly amazing FPS), and Myth (very nice action RTS) under their belt... So it's always struck me that MS got kinda lucky with the Halo/Bungie thing.
...
Halo is the cash cow - not Bungie.
1st party devs are not in MS' long term strategy. They will take their IP to whichever developer-for-hire they think will produce the best game in the fastest time at the lowest cost.
For all we know Microsoft may be knocking on the door of the studio set up by the ex-Infinity Ward guys asking them to make a new Halo game.
Lol.
Shame I missed this reply a few days ago.
What use is removing the hard drive?
I can't put it in a new PS3 as it just gets formatted. And even if it were possible a lot of saves are copy protected anyway, so even with backups most wouldn't get transferred to a new console. Sony's own transfer utility (which obviously requires a working PS3), doesn't move copy protected saves.
The only alternative is to try a hack repair job, or send...
Does it remove the DRM? No? Oh well. Still no sale for me!
Oh noes! Sony is gonna kill my saves!
Unfortunately the YLOD already got there first :(
Lol @ biggest
Yeah, I'm a fanboy for pointing out that 540p isn't a big deal. It wasn't a big deal for Halo 3 and isn't a big deal here. And it hasn't been a big deal in the multitude of other sub-HD games I have played on both PS3 and 360.
I agree with you about the idiot 360 fanboys claiming AW was ushering in a new level of graphical superiority - but then I also laughed at the idiot PS3 fanboys claiming Heavy Rain was ushering in a new level of story telling an...
I agree with some of your sentiment, but the difference here is that people are not arguing about the graphics as a whole (such as art direction, textures, lighting, how immersive the graphics make the game etc), they are arguing about the difference between 540p and 720p - which to an average, non-fanboy gamer, is of no consequence at all.
IF Remedy have had to use techniques to produce the game they want which results in dropping overall res to 540p that's fair enough. In the ...
Big deal what res Alan Wake runs at, it looks decent, so who cares. I'm more interested to see what the story and game play are like rather than arguing over a few pixels here and there.
But I do like the way Eurogamer have come out with a defense article so fast, especially one with so many comparisons to PS3 games - this will do nothing to help their credibility as a non-biased website.

I'd buy all my PC games digitally if I could, but the 'tax' imposed on digital games is crazy. I don't really get why a boxed copy that has to be produced, transported, stored in a warehouse and so on is cheaper than a digital copy housed on a server.
If the price is only a little more then I'll buy the download version, but these are tough financial times and I can't justify the extra cost to avoid the packaging and waste! :(
Get rid of manuals as much as possible. Save a few trees and make games with tutorials that are engaging, immersive and informative.
I loved manuals. I still have a boxed copy of Elite on the Spectrum. It came with a fantastic manual, a novella, a star chart - all the things we now have to pay extra for in a 'Limited Super Ultra Edition'!
But times have moved on. I don't want to read a manual and can not even remember the last time I did; I want to dive in and get...
This thread and the 576p Alan Wake thread really has shown off the best of each camp of fanboys.
Thanks N4G - this site is awesome, and thanks fanboys, you never fail to raise a laugh.
On topic.
Does the res of Alan Wake matter if the game looks great?
That's not exactly true Danny Dan.
The minimum amount to credit the PSN Wallet is £5.00
So if anything costs less than that, small amounts of cash are left over. It's no biggie compared to MS and Nintendo's points systems and to be honest I find Nintendo the worst of the bunch.
I picked this up for £16.99 and I'm seriously enjoying it.
I'm a few hours in, and it's really good fun and the art style is really nice. Some amazing voice acting too.
Unless something seriously ruins the the experience in the next few hours I'd easily score this game an 8.5. I'm liking it way more than Twilight Princess; and although it's not that original or genre breaking, it has that essential ingredient that all games shou...
