I respectfully disagree with the article.
For most gamers they don't really know or care about who develops Call of Duty games. My dad and brother are huge fans, and buy each one - they don't care if Infinity Ward or Treyarch or one of the other legions of developers Activision has lined up makes the game. They just see it in terms of 'liked this one', 'didn't like the next one'. My Dad loves WaW. My brother is more of a MW fan. I doubt this i...
I loved Rare back in their heyday, and before that as Ultimate Play the Game. Blast Corps is one of my top games.
But that's no reason to give them a free pass now.
They've been making mediocre games for a long time, even before they were bought by MS (StarFox Adventures!?!). In fact I think Nintendo knew that Rare was on the slippery slope so must have laughed all the way to the bank when MS started throwing cash around!!
... and to continue...
Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps please.
Depends on the type of game which i think is better at any one time. Both platforms have strengths and weaknesses.
What I love about consoles is that I don't have to upgrade, and the games released at the end of the console's lifecycle look better than those at the start. The opposite is true of PC games... The newer the game the more it struggles on older hardware, but I can always upgrade.
They are equal and I hope both thrive in the coming years....
Crackdown. Great game. Sorely underappreciated at launch!
Yeah, you got it right. MH is subtle, requires thought.
I see it more in the same vein as Demons Souls - games where you actually have to think to beat them.
It's a real shame that so many games these days hold the gamers hand all the way through. Challenge is good!!
It would have been nice to include the Halo Reach beta on the Crackdown 2 disc as they did with Halo 3 on the original Crackdown.
I really hope they've done a good job with Crackdown 2. Crackdown 1 was a really great game - one of my faves.
So it seemed simple just to tweak all the flaws in the 1st and dial everything else up to 11 in the sequel! But I'm a little concerned about this zombie/infected angle they have taken.
What a moaning article!!
If you don't like it, don't use it! Simple.
This game looks great.
Has anything been mentioned about a level builder being included in the final release? That would be pretty sweet!
That's a shame. Looks like Beyond Good and Evil 2 is fated never to see light of day.
Although the basis of the world was well established in the first game - so perhaps if Ubi give it to one of their other teams who can hash it in to some sort of mini games title like they did with Rayman, and then slap the worlds worst DRM on it, we'll still see it in some form!! :P
By far my favourite post so far commodore.
Villified gamers?!
Logical gamers predicting PS3 may catch up by 2012? Must have missed that - cus I certainly never saw any logical 360 (or PS3) fans on this site claiming that!
Is this the same vilified gamers who spent 2007/8 claiming the PS3 was doomed?
Same vilified gamers who crop up in every multiplat comparison lauding it over the PS3 owners cus of their 'massively inf...
Fahrenheit was on PC, so don't see why not for Heavy Rain. The gestures would convert to a mouse and keyboard fairly well.
Can we start the 'This is no longer a PS3 exclusive cus it's on 2 platforms' vs 'It's a console exlcusive' argument now??? /s
Unfortunately when it comes to pricing UK often get close to a 1:1 USD to GBP exchange rate!! :(
EDIT: But personally I think a price of either £99 or £119.99
I think MNR will do well over time. LBP didn't exactly set the world on fire with first day / week / month sales, but ultimately sold good numbers, and more than enough to justify an amazing looking sequel.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, PS3 games seem to be very long tail.
Agreed Kurisu.
This is the most heavily advertised PS3 games I have ever seen. Way more than GoW3 or any other PS3 exclusive to date.
Kinda surprising if the sales have been low, but tbh I'm not sure Kart games ever sell that well (outside of Mario Kart).
Halo, and to a lesser extent Gears, are the exception, not the rule.
Halo is a great game, but with a 30million+ marketing budget behind it, it's gonna shift copies!
Most PS3 games are very long tail products. This contrasts with the 360 which seems to do exceptionally well on pre-orders and first day sales.
And this is no flame towards 360 owners (I am one myself) but PS3 owners have certainly had more pressures on their wallets!!
Yeah, looking forward to possibly the first really decent NFS game for a while... hoping to get a release date at E3!
I really hope the rumours are true about SSX.
Back in 2005 I would have agreed with this. I bought the 360 on Day 1, I thought Sony had got it all wrong with the PS3.
How wrong I was.
As a multi-console owner over numerous console generations I can honestly say that MS will need to do something amazing with the next Xbox to make me stay with the Xbox brand. The 360 has been a bit of a fail for me.
All the reasons that were valid in 2005/6 and even 7 to own a 360 over a PS3 have pretty ...
Yeah cus sales = quality every time!! /s
No doubt Halo Reach will be great. But it's the MS marketing machine that pulls the sales, not because Halo offers any significant advantage over the competition.
Too late!!
