@socrates
That's rubbish. I have been a multi-console and PC gamer every generation.
Yeah, I played Mass Effect 2 as well, on PC.
I have Red Dead Redemption in my stack of unplayed games... for my PS3.
In my opinion the last decent 360 games were Gears 2 and Fable 2. Alan Wake doesn't appeal (may pick it up when it's budget), and Splinter Cell has never been my thing (did play it a fair bit on my Xbox, but I suc...
Any proof on this?
Cus I have bought a few games from there and the one's I have received had the proper Playstation seal on the wrapper.
Not calling BS on your statement, I'm genuinely interested.
My theory is that the 150 price tag is just BS that MS have leaked out there.
At 150 the price is too high, but they get to gauge interest in the product through pre-orders.
If the pre-orders are high, then Kinect will be close to 150 (prob around 129.99). If the pre-orders are bad then Kinect will probably be sub-100 (either 89.99 or 99.99).
Either way, as long as MS launch at lower than 150 then they can play the old 'what a great deal...
Good.
Saints Row 1 and 2 are a blast. Much more like the good ol' days of GTA, rather than the insipid and overrated GTAIV
Some people will always nail their allegiances to a particular mast, and use whatever data they can bend or manipulate to justify their allegiance.
It's bizarre that people care so deeply about sales, when it impacts their hobby so little.
I thought about an upgrade - for maybe a second.
I still have a launch 360 - no HDMI, tiny hard drive, noisy disc drive etc. And I'm on my third replacement and am now well out of warranty.
But then I checked my Gamercard and realised I hadn't actually used my 360 since Feb 2009!!, so no point upgrading to something I never use any more.
I suspect it's b)!
I gauge success on how much fun I have playing the games each console provides, not on sales.
I used to be a total addict for Day 1 purchases. Even if I had a stack of unplayed games I had to buy the latest and greatest AAA as soon as it launched.
But in the UK, the speed at which new games drop in price has seriously accelerated. It used to be around 6 months before any sort of price drop on most titles. Now it's just not worth buying on Day 1, as waiting even 1 month can lead to some serious reductions.
As this is News for GAMERS I'll stick to that side of things.
I own an HTC Desire, running Android. It's a brilliant phone. But as a gaming platform I rank the games somewhere between low end PC, and freebie Linux games. Not great. Sure, there's some gems there, but these are few and far between.
One of Androids greatest strengths - openness, and variety of handsets - is it's greatest weakness when it comes to apps and games.
"if you want to play music, then just learn to play a real instrument, it's not that hard...
in fact, it's easier than playing rock band..."
What a dumb statement!
How about.... "if you want to shoot people, then learn to shoot a real gun, it's not that hard...
in fact, it's easier than playing BFBC2... "
Or
"if you want to race a car, then just learn...
After Harmonix and Red Octane split Guitar Hero just crashed.
It's pretty obvious that Red Octane / Neversoft don't have the skill that Harmonix does when creating note patterns for songs.
Guitar Hero just feels like a highscore challenge based on button presses, whereas Rock Band gives a better 'feel' for playing the songs.
I don't understand the scepticism. For years people have wanted to be more immersed in gaming - and when it comes along all of a sudden it's a bad thing!?!
When the PS3 launched (and to a degree the 360) the high price that the early adopters pay helps to offset the R&D and drive down manufacturing costs.
Same with Blu-Ray - until disks started selling in high numbers the price of manufacture and other associated costs couldn't come down.
Lol @ GreenRing.
You do know what RRP means? RECOMMENDED Retail Price.
Retailers can charge what they want.
But lets go with your logic... Halo Reach RRP 49.99, current pre-order price £38.85 on Shopto.net!!
Oh dear, that doesn't sound good, they've had to drop the price by £11.14 to secure orders. 360 is doomed!! /s
Exactly... Something is only a 'narrow market opportunity' until it hits mainstream, catches the public eye and then explodes!
I'm sure the first motor vehicle that hit the roads was seen as a narrow market opportunity by people trotting around in horse and carts!
Someone has to push these technologies, and I'm glad Sony and Nintendo are doing it in their respective ways. MS seem to have a 'wait and see' approach in most things.
I can't believe people are whining and complaining about this. Grow up!
Wow, the secretive gaming industry managed to keep a secret that wasn't leaked for a change!!
If news of Twisted Metal had leaked before E3, then the same whingers and whiners would probably be talking about how Sony had no mega-tonnes at E3!!
Shame about the missing music in Crazy Taxi. It was all part of the experience. but oh well, I'll still be getting it.
Hopefully they have replaced the music with some Sega trademark hard guitar and synths rock!! :)
Skies of Arcadia... yes please.
One of my fave RPG's. Still have a copy, but I'd buy it on the PS3 purely to save the hassle of setting up my Dreamcast again! :)
A proper next-gen sequel would be amazing.
Activision seem to be going through the same growing pains EA went through.
Luckily EA came out the other side (mostly) as a better, more gamer focused, company. Activision seem intent on screwing gamers for every penny - and even in the worst days of EA, I don't think they quite reached these sort of depths.
One thing I found interesting at E3 was the alignment of EA and Activision. The exclusive CoD stuff between Activision and MS, was in contrast to ...
Exactly!
Portal fits in to the same sort of category as Demons Souls....
Games that on the surface appear challenging, but reward the player for figuring it out, and persevering - rather than just running in, all guns blazing!
I thought it looked like the Milo tech had been used in Kinectimals
