Guess they didn't want the game rated M for putting a giant cock in the game!!
That's not necessarily true when it comes to MS...
360 has a bigger install base than PS3, but in my opinion it has a narrower consumer appeal.
The sales of FPS and third person action games seems to bear that out whereas the number of RPG's, exclusives and quirky innovative titles have seriously dropped off since 2007/8.
So in some ways the 360 could be alienating a few developers because it has almost niche appeal, and to compound t...
I was in the same situation 10+ years ago. Took a degree in Computer Science as a way in to the games industry (no courses on game development back then!! :) )
But what I realised was that I loved PLAYING games, and loved the idea of the creative process for producing and creating games.
But there are very few creative geniuses that we all want to be (Miyamoto, Kojima, Jaffe, Spector, Braben, Molyneaux etc), and the reality is most people getting in to the g...
Just read another N4G story on Dungeon Keeper and was lamenting there not being a 3rd DK game, and then along comes news of this title.
Hope it's a good homage to the Bullfrog classic. Wonder if any of the old Bullfrog team are working on this...
Dungeon Keeper was a great game. Would love to see a third instalment. The genre for this type of game is sorely lacking.
Also hoping the next Evil Genius title sees light of day.
If we're talking in terms of hardware performance - then yeah PC should have it easily. But how developers are translating that extra power in to new and innovative gaming experiences is lacking to me.
I'm not going to complain about higher frame rates, better textures and higher res - but the PC doesn't offer much more beyond that because it's not a standardised platform.
And if we're talking in terms of gaming experiences. Even though ...
Looks pretty cool. Fingers crossed this game turns out great. Love the 40k IP.
That's a huge shame. After seeing what they did in Crackdown, and knowing a lot of staff there had worked on earlier GTA games it's a damn shame they messed up so badly with APB.
Never good to see people laid off, but APB was a mess in Beta and lacked a real sense of fun or purpose.
@ RedDeadDestroyer.
Didn't you hear? Apparently Forza 3 was sooo good, it was definitive /s
Agreed Soda...
Cus they may have sped up the Forza vids to compete with GT5!!
"And Forza 2 has faster loading times than GT5."...
...And less cars on track, lower detail graphics, probably poorer AI and physics... basically a lot less data to churn through when loading.
I wonder if Kotaku will post this new vid as news?
As if!!
:)
I agree with what you say, but here's another perspective....
As games look much better and are more cinematic these days have gamers expectation and playing styles changed?
I think gamers are now deriving satisfaction from experiencing the game, rather than beating the challenge. (This is a generalisation as there are plenty of gamers who love a good challenge)
It's a subtle difference in my opinion, and one brought about by the high...
For the most part Yes. They are way too easy. However as I get older, and my time gets more limited for playing games I don't mind games being a little easier... But for those that want it, there should always be a challenging difficult level. And I'd really hate to see every game become as easy as the combat in Fable 2 for example.
One other contributing factor to this lack of challenge in games is the rise of the internet and FAQ's, YouTube solutions etc. Wh...
So you're saying you don't like CoD and you don't put much stock in the author of the article??? Just wanted to check cus you were a little bit vague in your comment!! :)
/jk
From the article "Bare with me for a moment."
<gets naked>
Now what?
:)
Grammar FTW!
On topic: Failure is very subjective. The author appears to think the game is a failure because it is different.
To me Bad Company is a spin-off of the main Battlefield series. It is feels familiar enough to the old Battlefield games while going in a new direction (even if that direction ...
Well said sir!!
There's a 4th thing to learn from this... How to handle the fall out when you do screw up.
Even following the 3 principles the article outlines - there will be occasions when a genuine mistake has been made.
Handling the fall out is a skill. Professional media outlets will eat the appropriate amount of humble pie, and post a retraction or correction to the story.
In the long run I hope Kotaku learns a hard lesson if it's visitor numb...
Yeah I think you're right.
Also, Sony seem to have a good eye for talent.
LittleBigPlanet was already well in to prototyping before Sony got involved. And FlOw had been around for a while as a Flash game before getting scaled up to PS3.
Means Sony don't have to bankroll so many risky ideas. They see talent, invest in it, make the dev 2nd party, then assess whether they want to buy the developer outright.
It's ...
Good news!
Multi-plat game, becomes even more multi-plat! :)
