If Kotaku consider themselves real journalists and have any integrity they would issue a retraction or correction to the story.
However, considering it was so obviously a doctored video to begin with, they appear to lack even the most basic journalistic skills.
In all honesty I would prefer a new Jak and Daxter game instead of a new Uncharted game.
One word... Cost
Even with assets and engines in place creating a PS3 game is a world of difference from making a PSP game.
Plus there's the added factor of maybe Sony simply asked the developers to create something for the PSP; or even incentivised the devs to do it (for example Konami may have had licensing fees reduced for MGS4 if they agreed to make Peace Walker.)
Exclusives by 3rd party devs may well be dying.
But on PS3 and Wii 1st and 2nd party devs are knocking out some great exclusives.
From a business and profit point of view it makes sense to launch a game to the widest audience possible - so unless Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft are stumping up some cash then 3rd party devs have almost zero reason to develop exclusively.
The problem is cez, that 10x more memory, processing power or whatever just adds to the cost of production for both hardware and software.
Sony wiped out their pile of money generated by PS2 developing and selling the PS3. That's not something they want to repeat. MS have been in a mad scramble to gain market share which has cost them billions as well.
At some point the endless console hardware race will become unsustainable in the industry.

Not played ModNation yet - but sounds like with the exception of Kotaku the latest patch helped things a little bit!!
Agree with MGS4 load times. The first time Snake stood there smoking it was quite cool... After a while I found it annoying!! For an immersive game like MGS, those load times really got in the way.
This GT5 vid is fake though.
Yeah, PSP looking good for the next 12 months. I'm looking forward to this game. But would really love a PS3 Parasite Eve game.
Yeah, slow motion cars during the opening cinema was the point where I thought something fishy was going on.
It's pretty easy to watch the countdown timer on the HUD and see it's taking about 1.5 to 1.75 second per tick.
And a second watch shows people walking past very slowly in the TV's reflection.
Pretty sad that people go to the effort of slowing down a video just to make a game look bad. And even more sad that a website does...
And in other news... Slow motion video of GT5 gives you even longer to appreciate how amazing it looks!!
Batman AA was the biggest surprise of recent years for me. A top quality game that in my opinion was deservedly right up there with Uncharted 2 etc for GOTY.
It's really nice when developers take the care to add these little touches.
Batman AC is very near the top of my most wanted list.
If half is porn, and the other half moaning... surely that means there's a lot of moaning in both halves! :)
Well said Apocalypse... Agree with pretty much all you said.
We need more Skies of Arcadia for sure!!
A new version of Strider would be pretty amazing - or even an HD remake of the old games would be pretty sweet!!
No idea why they haven't done more with Dino Crisis. With the graphical horsepower available these days the dinosaurs could be fantastic.
The problem with Capcom is that they've 'done a SquareEnix', by thinking that they'll sell more if they create games that are more Westernised - either through design, or by partnering with Western developers.
When are these Japanese developers going to realise that the sole reason their games sold so well was BECAUSE they were NOT Westernised! The appeal was in the very fact that their games were different and interesting compared to traditional Western game...
@Focker-420 " Its obvious you felt a true emotional response at the end and thats what the game is all about." I agree with this... The author should be praising the game for eliciting a genuine response - even if it was a negative one.
So many games end with the perfect contrived set piece - the decisions in Heavy Rain lead the author to a specific ending that didn't meet his expectations... Tough, deal with it!
Tbh, there are many bigger issu...
I don't know why people get so irate about comments. If someone writes something you don't agree with, then move on.
At the very most N4G could implement a system allowing comments to be buried more easily - and then give us the option of setting the threshold for viewing.
I come to N4G cus the comments section is pure comedy!
What annoys me far more than fanboy posts is that NEWS for Gamers rarely features any NEWS!!! And what does...
I thought BGE2 had been cancelled - glad if it's not...
...but considering Michael Ancel has left Ubisoft doesn't bode well for the project.
Depends on how this is implemented.
IF the backups are synced to a users PSN account then it's great - cus that should mean I could put my saves on multiple PS3's and have them synced. And if my PS3 fails then I can just download the saves to the new machine.
However... If saves are still tied to the hardware (as most are now), then this is an almost useless feature.
@mrv321
Yeah sounds amazing, but the reality is that units don't go straight from manufacturer to retailer to customer in one direct step.
And manufacturers don't care how many the end user buys on a person by person basis. All they are interested in is demand from retailer/distributors
There's these things called warehouses, which stock is kept in until required by the retail outlets and to create a buffer to cope with the vagar...
@ Acquiescence
Congrats! Microsoft have just taken up the option on your game proposal.
They said "Man, that's impressive... It was way more detailed than EPIC's pitch for Gears of War"
Although they do suggest renaming it to 'Gears of PHWOAR!'
