I agree it'll need to be implemented carefully, and may be rubbish for 99% of games.
But in stuff like Formula 1 they have extremely sophisticated simulators for the drivers to train on. I imagine that'll have some sort of tracking which could find it's way in to mainstream gaming.
I think motion controls are the future, but not as they stand now. And there will almost always be a place for a good old fashion controller.
Where I see motion controls going is in their use with 3D (which itself needs to mature a lot more as a technology).
It makes perfect sense to have a 3D space controller when using 3D, but in current form it all needs some work.
Plus motion controls can be more subtle than waving around a couple of sti...
You make a good point, but we don't know the fine print of that agreement.
Activision could still have creative input, or be able to dictate the genre of game (I doubt we'll be seeing an RTS from Bungie for example!!), or time frame for release and so on.
I'm sure the Infinity Ward guys thought they were on to a good thing when they signed with Activision!
You're probably right testerg35, but I have a slightly different view of the Move controller.
With their massive push for 3D it's obvious Sony would need a controller that works in 3D space. I think that it's been in development for quite some time (remember all the rumours of a break apart controller from waaaay back?)
I think they decided to accelerate their plans for motion control when they saw how successful the Wii is. That's why Sony ...
@MorganX
Bungie were very successful on both PC and Mac before MS picked them up.
Sure MS has made Halo a billion dollar IP, but after Halo CE, MS could have pretty much given the Halo IP to any developer and still been just as successful with Halo 2 and 3 with all the marketing dollars behind it.
Bungie already had talent - MS just gave them the money to exploit that. Anyone who played Myth 2 online would know Bungie was a great developer. ...
lol.
Yeah, surely if the Infinity Ward debacle had happened earlier, while Bungie was looking around for a publisher, they may have taken a different view on the 'freedom' Activision affords them.
Or maybe the pay cheque was high enough that it was worth the top guys at Bungie putting the company at the mercy of Kotick and co.
It'll be really interesting to see how big Bungie's next game becomes.
Will it prove that it was Microsoft marketing dollars that pushed Halo to such stratospheric heights; or can Bungie really produce the goods again??
Only time, will tell!
"...the PC! Return to your roots ! "
Err, I believe Bungie was a Mac developer first!
All this politically correct BS is annoying and in some cases downright hypocritical.
People with nothing better to do will always find something to complain about; and games are an easy target.
Unfortunately it sounds like Capcom need to grow a pair and tell these groups they won't back down instead of setting up some fluffy PR dept.
I don't recall any uproar about a white American killing Eastern Europeans in RE4!
For me RDR is one fo the best GTA style games because of the wild west setting.
Random shoot outs, that frontier feel where every gun fight could be your last, the lack of proper police force etc, really works well for a sandbox game. For me it just felt better and more immersive than GTAIV.
R* do need to come up with some fresh ideas, especially around mission structure, but I'd be happy if RDR2 just tightens things up and adds more content - especially...

I love PC gaming... But you list 3 sequels and a bug fest of a game. Hardly a huge difference from the world of consoles!

MCV is a trade mag in the UK, and is hugely respected. This isn't some blog or half assed site.
It appears to be a genuine mistake, but not by MCV, but by Microsoft. The MCV article quotes marketing manager for Xbox Live EMEA Robin Burrowes for saying that voice control would be turned on later.
And unlike other sites like, say Kotaku for instance, who posted the faked GT5 vids from a random source with no fact ...
I pretty much agree with you Matrix.
I was so impressed by the 360 at launch. Live was excellent, the games were solid and launches of new stuff was frequent. They even seemed to be trying new things (Viva Pinata for instance).
But MS had one plan... Beat Sony. When Nintendo blew everyone away with the Wii, MS crapped themselves and changed their plan to Beat Sony and Nintendo. Beyond that they don't seem to have a clue.
I even defend...

I never give games a free pass just because of the developer or their previous record. I hated GTAIV but really enjoyed RDR.
It had flaws. The story lacked punch, but was no worse than any other crappy writing we've seen in video games for many many years. Maybe I was lucky but I saw very few bugs/glitches, and never had a lock up or crash (PS3 version)
I liked the characters overall - especially early in the...
PC is an important and integral part of the gaming industry. But over the years I have tended to move back and forth between the 'Consoles rule' vs 'PC rule' camps.
At the moment my PS3 is getting most use, followed by PC, then Wii, and 360 is used the least by far.
For me, there are far more unique and interesting games on console than PC; but there's no way I could live without a gaming PC rig. 2010/11 isn't exciting me too much fo...
Off topic: I'm really enjoying seeing PC fanboys on N4G, been PS3 and 360 crazies for far too long. :)
Fingers crossed we see some rabid Nintendo fans arrive soon! Or maybe some hardcore gaming Mac zealots - that'd be awesome (Marathon FTW!).
On topic: If you're looking for something to play games on then it's about the GAMES, not side by side comparisons. If I was looking for a multi function device I'd go for the PS3 or build a PC.
There's a fine line between being a perfectionist and being a whining git!
It's one thing to say 'If we had more time/money we would have done X, Y or Z different', but this is outright bashing of his own products.
There's no excuse for a first party title to release with the number of bugs that Fable 2 launched with, or not meet the creators vision for what the game could (and maybe should) have been.
Either MS are more i...
Microsoft have published a couple of games that have ended up going to other platforms in one form or another, so not sure your argument holds water.
Ninja Gaiden 2 for example.
I'm pretty sure MS don't hold the IP to ME1
Well we don't yet know what the devs will do with the extra content on the PS3 version.
If they add an interactive recap of the 1st - where the player basically watches a movie, and makes key decisions, then it could work easily.
If there's decision in ME1 that we didn't see play out in ME2, but WILL factor in ME3, then the devs need to do something to bring it all together. I've played ME2 with and without a ME1 save - and there was no major...
I had a very similar issue. Sony were absolute bastards about resetting the number to zero and in the end I gave up.
I wasn't game sharing as the activations had either been lost through YLOD (3 PS3's) or were still on PS3's I regularly used in my household.
They stated that unless I could provide proof of the YLOD, and receipts showing I had purchased all the 5 PS3's then I should forget it.
What annoyed me most was how the ...
