Looks like for the consumer version of W8, they'll make it very hard to disable Metro. Probably need a registry hack or third party tool.
There will be a way for Corp customers to disable it but not at user level.
The message is for your average user MS wants Metro (as it used to be called) the default and only interface.
@Sanquine..
If it's a code it means that the user has to wait for the title to download. And as background downloading isn't supported while playing some games (such as online multiplayer titles), then it's an even longer wait.
If the Vita version is on the disk it can be transferred to PS3 and then to Vita... much quicker.
And we don't yet know if the Vita version will be completely free. They could increase the price of th...
The best time?
Just ask yourself two questions:
Does it have the games I want to play?
Can I afford it?
If the answer is yes, then it's the right time!! Not sure we need an article for this!
I'm really intrigued by this, it sounds like a brilliant idea. But do we know if this really is 'goodwill' from Sony, or will there be any catches?
For example...
How will the Vita games be activated? (from a code in the box, or downloaded from the Blu-Ray to PS3 first).
Will there be any DRM measures in place that stop a gamer owning the Vita version after they have sold the Blu-Ray version? (and how would that work!)
...
This is good news. Think by 2013 there will be more than enough games to tempt me to buy.
I wonder if the re-engineering is only to push down costs, or if it'll also bring improvements (i.e. better battery life from reducing the chip die size or something like that).
Original title of the article is "Why Skyrim Just May Be The Best Game of All Time". This title is just looking to cause arguments.
On topic. I really enjoyed most of Skyrim, but it's not the best RPG, and definitely not the best game ever.
That has always come through from MM, and before that when some of them were part of Lionhead / Bullfrog.
It's great to see that level of enthusiasm. For all his faults Peter Molyneux did seem to be able to put together a happy bunch of enthusiastic and passionate developers, and glad to see that legacy has carried on to MM.
Gamescon has almost convinced me to get a Vita... One more price drop and I'll be in.
@ Reverent
See my post above for a list of decent games in various genres. Could list many more that have soaked up many many hours of my time. It all depends on what genres you like. RPG's are a little underwhelming right now, but they are definitely a genre that doesn't rely on a controller and could work very well on iPad.
Tablet gaming sucks? You're entitled to your opinion, and maybe you just don't like particular genres where the iPad is strong... but to say it sucks is a bit steep!
If you like strategy games, Outwitters is an awesome game that has no downside to playing the free version.
There's a tonne of amazing board games (Forbidden Isle. Ticket to Ride. Elder Signs. Plus loads of others, some of which are very tough).
Card games work e...
I think GT6 will be a PS4 title. or at least i hope so. GT5 is fine for the PS3, and has got loads of support - what would a new version bring. Yes they could polish the visuals, yes they could add more cars, yes they could sort out the screen tearing... but it wouldn't be a hugely better release, and as GT games reuse a lot of tracks it may end up feeling like a cash in rather than Polyphony's desire for perfection.
I'd say the perfect time to launch GT6 would...
Yeah, I just bought Real Racing 2 during an EA sale. It's a very good title and is far more playable than I was expecting.
This game is quite good fun. Probably won't appeal to the masses, but for a bit of nostalgia and strategy it's a great time waster. Hint for extra fun... Make sure you name your party after people you know... Makes the whole thing much more personal! :)
I agree with this. Launching the Vita shortly before or after the PS4 launch would have made a lot more sense.
Every time Bliz release some news / excuses about D3 I feel more and more like they launched too early.
I've not played the game in a very long time. It'll take something really special to get me back playing it (and I don't mean any requirement for me to spend more money on an expansion)
Surely Shenmue did a forklift driving sim first!! :)
You may also want to check out Farm Simulator recently released on iPad
An iPad or iPhone (or Android device) is a great compliment to console / PC gaming. It's no surprise to see these figures for iOS.
It reminds me of the days when I used to save pocket money to buy games on cassette for my Vic 20, or pay £1.99 for Mastertronic games for my Spectrum - it was low cost, low risk. That low cost of entry for iPad games is very appealing compared to forking out £30-45 for a console game that might disappoint.

It would appear the entire 5% of gamers who use cockpit view in Codemasters games are also N4G members!!
What a coincidence!!
I like the idea of cockpit view, but for lap times I am always faster playing with the camera set to bumper or bonnet... So no big deal for me. Mir I want a cockpit view I'll fire up GT5
You can adjust how close the camera is to the windscreen in GT5.
Think you just need to hit pause in cockpit view and choose one of three options.
One of the main reasons is that MS are trying to do the same as Apple and create a 'walled garden' for their app store.
Ideally they want all software to be sold through that store, so they can take their 30% cut (same as Apple).
Gabe doesn't like this as a) it could eat in to sales through Steam, and b) it is an additional barrier for devs (especially indie devs) to get their games out there.
The worst case scenario is that MS fo...
