People need to play this game... It's like being slapped in the face by a supermodel.
There's been a lot of good games and some interesting titles, but I'd never say this has been the best gen ever. High def graphics, unreliable hardware, a land grab for casuals and monetising every aspect of gaming is about all I'll take away from this gen.
What I have learned from this gen:
I will never again buy a console on Day 1.
I will hugely reduce the number of Day 1 titles I pre-order, and will continue to rent more games
It is unl...
Yeah, I did my best to like FFXIII. But the longer I played the less I liked it (and I didn't like it much to begin with). Never completed it, never intend to go back to it.
I'm glad SE stuck with the FFXIII series... It makes it easier to know which games to avoid.
What I respect about mobile gaming is when a developer has obviously played to the strengths of the hardware rather than trying to crowbar in console controls where they just won't fit.
We're never going to see a proper Halo / CoD clone on iPad, and people should stop judging mobile gamings success or maturity by that criteria (especially if you consider yourself 'hardcore' because you play CoD / Halo etc.
I could name a load of games on iPad ...
Your comment might be off topic, but it is the truth!
Today's so called 'hardcore' gamer is the 'casual' of 10-15years ago. I'm not even sure hardcore gamers exist any more.
I remember way back, hacksawing the edge off imported Sega Genesis games so they would fit in the Megadrive. Loved that the 'region locking' was nothing more than a slightly different shaped cartridge slot.
I thought Sony (at least) had clarified that they don't set the prices of the full downloadable games - the publisher / distributor does.
The games Sony does publish seem to be closer to retail or at least offered on sale more frequently - it's the EA / Activision that seem to be going for full RRP (or higher)
I don't fully agree with that Droid Control.
There's many games, such as DOS games, Win 95 games etc that were great fun - but they don't work properly now.
A good example is the move from 386SX to DX chips - Doom would not run on an SX. Or the move from 32bit to 64bit OS's causing incompatibility with some games. Who is to say there won't be a similar evolution of hardware or software in future.
All we can really say i...
I am really looking forward to this update, but I agree with the article. It does seem like Codemasters are reluctant to turn things up to 11!
I'd love to see challenges that are part of history, but with a twist... For example, the famous race where Gilles Villeneuve got a puncture and basically ripped the suspension off getting back to the pits - it'd be cool to be challenged to get back without causing the damage, but not losing too many places.

Nice game. Great graphics on the iPad. Controls could do with a tweak - but fun for a quick blast now and again
I was shocked how playable Real Racing 2 was, and it looked incredible for a 'handheld' game.
Looks like RR3 is raising the bar again.
I can't wait to see what Valve come up with, mainly because I just can't see where in the games market they could compete and succeed.
Are they building a console? And if so will it be linux or Windows, and will it use physical media? Could it be a download only set top box? (the Phantom 2???) Or just some Valve / Steam branded peripherals? Could it be the wearable computers we heard about a while ago? Could it even be an Android based gaming phone?
"Its not appropriate to go into the reasons why they’re closing it, short version: it’s crushingly stupid "
Riiiight... It's safe to assume that they closed the team because they are not making enough (or any) money for Sony.. Who have just posted a huge loss. They also have mentioned that they are reallocating people to other teams if they want to go.
Yeah... crushingly stupid!! /s I guess it's lucky the author isn't a CEO.

This has nothing to do with the 360 holding the PS3 back - it has everything to do with the cost and time it takes to develop games.
Every generation until this one, developers looked to produce games that took advantage of the target consoles strengths... For example, the PS2 was less powerful than the original Xbox, but no one said the PS2 was holding it back. Developers played to the strengths of each machine (the PS2 was great for particle effects, the XBox had more hors...
Perhaps Jay Wilson should strike out and take the risk of forming his own company and see how he does without a big name like Diablo guaranteeing sales and success.
I seriously wonder how well Diablo 3 would have sold if it was by any other developer under a different name? (i.e. like Torchlight)
@Belking
Fire up Uncharted 1 and then Uncharted 3, and you'll see a lot of difference. Smoother animation, better interaction with environment, more graphical effects, more happening on screen, (some) better textures, and so on.
Going back to Uncharted 1 does feel like a step backwards now.
This isn't the only example.
I don't think he's overstayed his welcome - but I think Nintendo haven't done enough innovative stuff with him, and have overused him.
When Mario went from 2D to 3D on N64 it was a defining moment in gaming. He also appeared in very few N64 games. Since then it seems he's just been rehashed in decent but not innovative games, and has appeared in far too many games.
When I watched the trailer it did remind me of a LBP's art style.
I don't mind the subscription. But I would prefer a 'Pay as you go' model. I often buy a month here and there for MMO's, and then get bored. It works for me - but I'd rather pay for the actual hours I put in.
Free to Play often has too many limitations. And Pay to Win is a horrendous idea.
I wonder if a 'Pay per Level' model might work... So you get the first few levels free, then have to pay to 'unlock' every level aft...
Guess I must have missed the story where people complained they were getting free stuff from Sony!!
If people aren't smart enough to keep track of finances, tough luck.
