Great read. For the Chloe idea for a game, I personally think Sam Drake would be a better fit for a partner than Cutter really. If you think about it, Chloe is almost tailor made to fit Sam. She already has an affinity for the Drakes, but Nate was a little too goody-goody for her...I think she'd fit in w/ Sam really well & it'd give Troy & the devs a chance to flesh out that character a bit more. I'd like to see that for the dlc though, the Portugal Job w/ Sam, Sully &...
You could just as easily assume that the man isn't responsible for that long production time. Konami's obviously a train wreck of an employer, so there is every possibility that they are the ones to blame for the lengthy productions of the past. With full freedom to create his own game from the ground up, and w/ Sony's help finding him an engine & their devs potentially pitching in to help, he could set a new personal record.
The game obviously won't be ...
Exactly. That is where the "unified platform" idea falls apart. It essentially means w/ the introduction of Scorpio, either Scorpio will have to be gimped online & shackled by the standard XBO, or it means that XBO versions of games will suffer in terms of resolution in order to get them up to 60 for online play.
Framerates can be increased in terms of campaigns, but Scorpio will be shackled to XBO for as long as this initiative plays out, or until the inevita...
The ram hasn't been confirmed yet. The assumption is that it'll be 12 but it could end up being 8 w/ a bunch of eSRam for all we know.
Bottom line is we just have a lot of PR talk from MS. They haven't even built the box yet, so it's a little disingenuous to call it the "most powerful console ever" at this point when it doesn't even exist in any form.
Going by what this dev & others have said, they will still have to targ...
Nice spin, but Sony already had the most shows, even when they didn't have a show at Gamescom last year. MS had E3 & Gamescom, Sony had E3, PGW, TGS & PSX. Sony still had twice as many shows as MS. No one took issue w/ how many shows Sony had, they were saying that Gamescom in particular is too important to skip conference wise.
The old 360 wasn't worth anything when XBO came out really. What like $50? Fairly sure the resale costs for systems w/ 80 million units in the wild being sold brand new for next to nothing aren't significant enough to make much of a dent in a new purchase.
Also, the great thing about the 360 & PS3 is that neither require an internet connection. You can play games on the system as long as it functions. Obviously not paperweight status.
Hell those games would most definitely be considered "new games" before a BC release would be. Remasters add new elements & refine the game to make it fundamentally changed into a new version of an old game. RDR on BC is just an old game played on a new platform.

"How much money do you think Rockstar is making of of their 6 year old game? About 10,000% more than this time last year?"
That depends, is every...
First off, Recore isn't $60 at launch, it will be $40.
Secondly, The Order isn't 5 hours long. That's a speed run type time. The game will generally last around 8 hours for an average play time at normal difficulty. The issue with that game isn't really the length, it was just poorly executed in some areas w/ overly long cutscenes, weapon restrictions, an instant fail stealth section & copy paste boss battles. Still not a bad game by any stretch, and pro...
"Take that with a grain of salt, knowing I’m horrible at estimate. It’s eight hours, and take that with a warning.”
That's taken from the same quote, so Pacini did give an estimate of 8 hours for Recore.
Definitely agree that GB is all about the click bait, but the quote & the original article from Venture Beat mentions that length in relation to Recore.
What's 10% of "a buttload of cash"?
I think they'll be alright, damned Pokemon's are all over the place these days. Every news feed is crammed w/ stories on those things.
"Taking advantage of dynamic scaling and things like that, a game they make for Xbox One today will run beautifully on S and run beautifully and look better on Scorpio."
'Run beautifully on S, run beautifully on Scorpio and look better'
Noticed that he didn't mention any kind of performance increase there, only a visual one. Sounds to me like MS is focused more on hitting 4k than giving a jump from 30 fps to 60 fps.
I'll be interested to see what all of the people who got hyped over We Happy Few's MS E3 showing think of the game proper. I personally think unless they've changed a lot that showing that prologue was a little misleading. The rest of the game doesn't seem to look or play anything like that. Not sure if its still a procedurally generated roguelike type game or not but what was shown of the core gameplay in the past & after the show at E3 is pretty drastically different fro...
Never played Red Dead? C'mon dude you're slipping....it is good to have the game available on current gens though for those who sell their old systems for new gens. You should definitely try it out. I typically don't finish stories or dive deep into side content for Rockstar titles like GTA, but Red Dead is easily the best campaign in Rockstar's history. For like $7 or whatever they were selling it for on the Xbox store it is worth every penny & then some.
@godmars
"Talking about games with narrative so heavy and involved that they overly inter-cut gameplay. Gives like a 3:1 ratio story-game where something like the original GOW was 1:5 or greater."
Well first off, if you've played TLOU then you know that the gameplay is key & saying that game has a 3:1 ratio story to game is just absolutely false. TLOU lasted around 12-15 hours. You are essentially saying there was 3 hours of gameplay &am...

"i elaborated on the consequences if people choose both the ps4 and pc."
"well if people choose the pc/ps4 combo toute that means sony will eventually turn into nintendo, only good for its exclusives"
Nice elaboration there. Very elaborate. So elaborate in fact it is indistinguishable from wild pure speculation.
Please don't mention recent more frequently occurring incidents of third pa...
I'm not sure that the "entitlement" spiel should even be valid from a consumer perspective. Every single potential consumer on the planet is absolutely entitled to their needs & desires from a product. The entire point of the medium is to sell us on their games, it's not about us feeling lucky enough to roll w/ whatever punches they throw. They need us to be satisfied w/ our purchases & their decisions. When millions of fans who've supported a franchise for 2 dec...
Difference is Sony showed actual games for the majority of that showing, MS literally only had devs talking about hardware that doesn't even exist yet.
That just doesn't sound genuine to me. How can devs praise hardware that isn't even nailed down yet? All of those guys were on the MS payroll if memory serves so how can anyone believe they didn't just get paid to drop some lines in front of a camera?
How are these boxes obsolete? We haven't even seen visual proof of what these new boxes can offer us, but we are seeing games like Horizon & GoW running in real time on vanilla PS4s, and they look pretty phenomenal to me. Far from "obsolete".
Power will never be enough in & of itself to drive consumers. W/o content, power is pointless. It's all about the talent that utilizes it, the power itself is just a medium that can either be properly utilized...
I hadn't seen your comment when I made mine but those are my thoughts exactly. You could tell the story of how & why Nate's mother & father gave them up for adoption, likely due to some threat from a rival treasure hunter.
As far as the personalities you guys mention, I'd see it like this...Nate has 2 aspects that are always at conflict inside him, the happy go lucky adventurous treasure hunter, and the grounded brainy historian. This prequel would essen...
