"I guess we can take away that MS knew all this from the start and was upfront with it from the very beginning with their users. Either Sony learned this the hard way or they took a different approach by just gradually implementing and getting to where we are now."
"I don't see it either, since I never said it was dishonest or shady...did I? "
I mean that compare contrast scenario insinuates that Sony was dishonest. That would be t...
How exactly do you benefit from Play Anywhere if you are solely a PC gamer? Unless you own an Xbox you are just essentially paying $10 more for games that would traditionally cost less at launch and see deep discounts not long thereafter. Also, for as much flexibility as Win10 may give you w/ settings, it certainly doesn't compare w/ Steam, and just because QB (a game created by a third party) is hitting Steam, that doesn't necessarily indicate w/ any real certainty that any others wi...
Exactly. I mean Xbox 360 was recently discontinued, in all likelihood PS3 isn't far off, so I see this more of a move towards keeping those games alive in some form for new players, and I see Sony using this as a way to monetize PS1 & 2 games that would've otherwise only been available through emulation.
Sony is kinda the only console gaming champion right now, until we find out what Nintendo's plans are. If anyone seems interested in "ending" cons...
None of those games you listed are Sony exclusives. If he's blind then I'd tell you to look in the mirror but you are blind yourself.
Uncharted 4 only on PS4
TLG only on PS4
GT Sport only on PS4
Ratchet & Clank only on PS4
All actual Sony properties, all actually Sony exclusives. Sony doesn't own Resident Evil or Street Fighter. Remote Play is pretty drastically different from Play Anywhere. You've gotta have...
Nothing stops MS from leaving console gaming behind entirely.
Wild speculation is fun!
Exactly. If this game wasn't crowd funded, it would be receiving zero criticism by & large. The criticism it has received started from the actual backers themselves, then it was ballooned out into the gaming community at large as it just seemed a little shady from the outset. Add to that the loud crowd spouting hyperbole about SC being the best thing ever created in the history of gaming & just going on and on about its technical prowess before it has even released to be proven in...
By the same token, the only reason that MS pulled the Kinect as a requirement from the XBO, the only reason MS introduced BC & the only reason MS added its own GwG free lineup each month was in response to Sony's sales domination. You can't really believe one w/o the other, and they all resulted in benefits to the consumer, so I'm not sure if any of that is an issue. Even now when Sony is raising the price of their service, they are only doing so after being the cheapest on th...
It never even crossed my mind about giving movies...Sony is in a good position to do that, especially if it is one of their own flicks. It would be pretty cool to have at least a free rental show up on there from time to time.
I agree though, no one can really pass judgment on this move as of right now...it simply brings Sony up to the current price of its competitor, but as a byproduct I'd be willing to bet that at least for the next few months that the PS+ offerings w...
I think it'll be half & half, Halo Wars 2 is a sure thing for its date, I think Scalebound gets released around May-July, SoT & Crackdown will be Holiday games. It's kinda obvious at this point & anyone who doesn't see it isn't listening to MS themselves or paying any attention to their ongoing strategy. MS likes to have a big catalogue for the Holidays, and there is literally nothing else that has been announced for that time period yet, and big AAA games need tim...
Your post would make sound points if it didn't actively dismiss MS of any blame for essentially the exact same practices. Doing that essentially makes every point null & void.
First off, you say that Scorpio is somehow a different type of proposition because it represents MS trying to do a soft reset in order to bring in the Win10 integration, but somehow Sony doing the same thing for their VR initiative is deplorable? Neo is using its increased power to create a be...
First off, the Neo doesn't even officially exist yet, and considering most rumors put the console at being right around the corner, the reveal at the PS Meeting will automatically blow Scorpio's out of the water considering it'll most likely be showing actual games running on an actual box, vs. the announcement of 6 tflops...no name, no box, no specs, no games.
As for the console itself, you are placing every single egg in the 4k basket, & reducing the Neo t...
@darkwolf
"Im just saying it wouldnt surprise me because sony have a conflict of interest there and they might not want to undercut their own BR players."
You realize that Sony did exactly that when they released the PS3 w/ the best & most affordable BD drive on the market right? History has already proven your theory wrong there.
That would account for preorders happening right now, but that's not what this chart shows. This chart comes from before the test dropped.
What is more likely in this situation is that Titanfall 1 didn't live up to the hype for a lot of gamers & the reports of the quick drop off in the player base along w/ a lack of content may have soured many potential buyers.
There are obviously fans of the original game, and that's where the preorders ...
"(I can argue that you can't enjoy PSVR on it because it barely works well enough to pass inspection)"
Ok, have at it.
I don't personally need to argue, because I've read dozens & dozens of reports from gamers & media outlets that have actually went Heads On w/ PSVR and came back w/ glowing praise. Obviously not every level of experience in existence will be capable w/ a vanilla PS4 & PSVR but flat out saying that the thi...
Exactly my thoughts. The thing simply won't sell w/o eventual exclusives unless VR takes off in a huge way & people buy it for that. MS is going to upset a section of gamers one way or another w/ Scorpio so they need to just come out & be fully transparent about it and ditch this entire "Beyond Generations" line they are running with. The fact of the matter is generations are still fully on the table...just like I can't play a lot of the brand new mobile games on a f...
Yeah I agree, pirates never really moved the needle much for me on the whole, and I'm not an mp gamer. I did dig AC Black Flag though so if this had some kind of story component for someone who wanted to go solo then that could be cool.
I think more than anything SoT isn't conducive to being shown in unedited shorter bursts...IGN's video from yesterday was pretty rough, 10 minutes of a dude just wandering around a ship, falling into the water, then like 2 minute...
Exactly this. I don't understand how a marketing team or dev would be dumb enough to use something like this in the current climate. There are far more ways to get a narrative theme across w/o piggy backing on actual social & civil movements, this just cheapens both parties in my eyes.
First the controversy behind the pre order program, now this is very likely to cause its own controversy, none of these conversations are about the actual game itself. Sad that we li...
I agree, it doesn't only penalise gamers on the other platform though, it also actively hurts the platform that receives the timed exclusivity because those lofty amounts could be spent on true exclusives otherwise. Like when Phil said he "wanted his own Uncharted", instead of using his budget to create one for the fans, he used those funds to rob one from another platform that would've received it either way. Just a horrible business tactic.
That said I...
That wasn't confirmed false. Some of the Sony brass skirted the question, because it would kill the surprise of the announcement. Why would they confirm such a well kept secret in order to spoil the upcoming reveal solely to satisfy some people's curiosity?
In the newest episode of Kinda Funny Colin confirmed it was legitimate. He was the biggest skeptic of the rumor in the first place, but he said his multiple inside sources confirmed it, and that those guys had li...
I agree...I mean we've already seen how Sony in particular has the ability to keep its hardware production under wraps considering no one knew of the Slim's existence just a week ago & now that console will be hitting shelves w/in the month. So at the very least it is feasible that Neo could release during the Holidays, & I agree that if Neo enhances PSVR or is meant to compliment it in any way, they will need to at least fully outline the system & preferably release it in...
