Is there an offline mode? I was under the impression that the game needed an internet connection to help w/ some of the procedural generation? I could be wrong there but it seemed like I'd read somewhere that the game requires a connection to play

It should make it easier for you knowing that CD won't receive any rewards regardless of how much the game sells on PS4. Profits & bonuses are typically reserved for the brass at Square or at a stretch the small handful at the top of CD's team, none of the true devs in the trenches working on this game will see any kind of benefit from decent PS sales. I will wait for used or a price drop personally after maybe renting it at Redbox to get my fix on release. Then I will make sure t...

"The more PS4 gamers that buy it the more it shows them that they don't need to make deals"

I'm not sure that tracks w/ the way business works. The timed exclusivity was an experiment in some senses...if the game sells well on the PS4 at launch then it was essentially a successful experiment in Square's eyes because they don't really seem to care what the fans think, it's all about that bottom line. If the game does well on the PS4 it'll es...

Yeah I assume the trailer says that because it's being published by MS (and they have always been pretty shady w/ their marketing in general) out of the gate for their platforms, XBox & Win10, but the devs have definitely confirmed that it hits Steam after 90 days...I could look for a link for you but I'd say you can google it and see the info really easy....it's definitely hitting Steam though after 90 days so I'd just hold out if I were you.

Tell that to all of the fans & journalists who coined the term "Indie Rock" then hoisted it upon bands who were firmly entrenched in the majors. I do agree that everyone should stick to the actual dictionary definition, but that doesn't happen these days. 'Indie' has become shorthand for anything that isn't conventional, just like "alternative" was back in the day

Giant Bomb, Kinda Funny, IGN's Podcast Unlocked...those are just off the top of my head, and they all agreed the preview they played was underwhelming. Could easily be that the devs just picked the wrong section to show off, but there's no reason to deny the opinions of so many gamers that went hands on w/ that section & claimed that all it included was a lot of generic third person shooting.

To be fair it was also pretty harshly criticized by IGN's own Xbox focused Podcast Unlocked team...like everyone in attendance during that podcast said that it was underwhelming.

Either way the Kinda Funny crew all have Xbox's or access to them, and Greg Miller has actually been praising a lot of Xbox games that even most Xbox gamers aren't loving like QB. Bottom line is that I'd listen to ppl who have been hands on w/ the game regardless of their potential ...

So just to clarify, you'd prefer it if people went into a game w/o any idea on what to expect in terms of quality? A critic is "bad at his job" if he honestly reports his experience w/ a product?

Bottom line is the devs are asking gamers to pay for this early access....if it was free you may have a point, but anytime a company is asking for your money, it is absolutely vital for people to give their honest opinions so as to keep people from spending their mone...

I was really excited for it, but after hearing that all of what was shown was just tech demo type footage & w/ the actual game having a lot of issues (or not even existing according to some rumors) it's kinda dropped off of my radar. I don't think the devs are capable of achieving their initial vision at this point.

I look at it this way, Sony is one of the best creative partners in the industry, and they have a long track record of allowing time & freedom f...

Pretty sure they already confirmed that it'll be hitting Steam 90 days after release, then PS4 after a year, just like the TR deal so I wouldn't worry about it...just wait a few months & get it for the superior platform in Steam

Yeah the preview kinda pointed out what I've been assuming for a long time...the core gameplay loop isn't the Bioshock type feel that the recent talk & previews have been alluding to. I understand the inclination from the devs to lean into the Bioshock comparisons, because that's a pretty flattering one, but that prologue is a bit misleading.

The actual gameplay does look vastly improved from what they showed off on IGN First around a year ago, but it's ...

Please tell me where I've ever said that Xbox is 'pretty much useless now'? I'm not a PC gamer & never claimed to be...You must have me confused w/ someone else, because I personally think Play Anywhere is a good idea for MS and that a console exclusive is as good as a full one in the eyes of console only gamers. I have only ever said that if a PC gamer is making a choice on a console to pick up, the Xbox would be fairly useless for them compared ...

I personally see timed exclusives as far worse than full ones. Full exclusives are developed hand in hand w/ their console partners, they are games that wouldn't have existed in that form w/o that console's involvement. Timed exclusives are games that are already created, somewhere in the 11th hour a console just throws a lot of money at them in order to get bragging rights. Timed exclusive deals don't create anything, they just play a game of "keep away" from the other ...

I think that's the issue, we don't really know what the story will be like until we try it. I just don't really see how it can match at least Asylum & City in terms of narrative, and we already know it won't have that same fun gameplay standard. There just aren't many seminal Batman stories that haven't been adapted in some form already.

If this game is based around the Court of Owls, I'd be all in....short of that I'm not sure what it ca...

Yeah I was kinda wishing they would've just pushed up the Marvel property & that they did something more obscure like Daredevil or Moon Knight that we rarely see in gaming.

I just don't see how TellTale can offer anything in their Batman game that we haven't seen already, and done much better in terms of narrative & gameplay. The TellTale writers are good but they ain't Paul Dini good. I think I'll grab the first episode but if it doesn't mov...

That is awful! Here in Kentucky there was a Chinese restaurant that got shut down because they had brought a deer carcass in their kitchen that they had picked up off the road after it had been ran over...they claimed that they weren't going to serve it, but the damage is done as soon as you bring road kill into your kitchen really...same with dogs & cats. If some Asian cultures want to eat them that's their prerogative, but don't attempt it in the Stat...

Well they are obviously trying to recoup for poor sales due to the timed deal. I can't see another scenario in which they work so hard to justify a full retail price that they throw in pointless stuff that the typical gamer wouldn't care for like an art book. I never buy collector's editions myself so that stuff is irrelevant to me...I don't play mp so all of that content is also irrelevant....the skins are cool enough but only for 5 minutes or so, also ultimately kinda pointl...

They've got a comparison video up on IGN but it says the PS4 version is in Pre-Beta...it may change from now until release but I couldn't see much difference in the PS4 version, maybe slightly better than the XBO in lighting & particle effects & draw distance but nothing majorly noticeable yet.

"I guess the console makers see value in it though, but I think the money could be spent better elsewhere."

That is the key right there...deals like these don't benefit the players whatsoever. I'm of the mind that when it comes to games, funds spent should all work towards benefiting the gamer. If MS were to take all of the money they spent on timed exclusive rights to TR & DR they could've created their own enticing exclusive that can be a great g...
