Well what did you really expect when we've been treated to over a year's worth of articles like "Can NMS Live Up to the Hype?", "Will NMS Crash & Burn", "Is NMS the Greatest Thing Ever Created?". Half of gaming journalism is having to bend the narrative to support their initial argument of failure, the other half is having to bend it to support absolute success because literally the last thing that 99% of human beings will ever do is allow themselves ...
You obviously didn't understand the intention of the statement...
This was a good thing because Sony has a history of letting creators work on their wares w/o butting in w/ their requirements. Companies are not creators & it's best that they stay hands off through development. That doesn't equate to a "money hat"....a money hat is bad in 2 instances, where a company buys up a game meant to be multi plat last minute solely in order to keep it off of...
Yeah, Photogrammetry worked really well for Battlefront, it made that game absolutely gorgeous...it's a technique that should proliferate. Not every game needs to aim for photorealism, but for those that do, you can't really get much better than using actual photos to build your environment. This one looks really great so far.
@Kribwalker
"So it is reasonable to believe that sales slowed further as well that Sony would have announced a milestone like 5 million sales"
The entire premise of your argument is based around what you personally think Sony would have done? We rarely see Sony drop game sales stats for milestones...the only time they typically release those numbers is for an exceptional release week, and at some random point when a sequel or new installment is ...
Back Sony into a corner by renting out a small hotel conference room to host a couple dozen curious Japanese gamers? Makes sense, but only if they put out some very nice refreshments.
"Bill Gates vision of LIVE EVERYWHERE is shaping up with the power needed."
Funny also how Bill Gates' initial vision was that the internet would always remain business facing. Explorer was created solely as a response to Netscape's popularity. Bill Gates ...
Oh wow, moldy being pessimistic on a Sony article?
There are key differences that people like yourself (strangely all ardent Xbox supporters) are missing....The Vive's included controller is a brand new proprietary one. Literally no one has this controller prior to or w/o the Vive...The PS Eye & Move controllers have been functioning peripherals for the PS3 & PS4 for 2 generations now. There is an actual possibility of people having these units, whereas there i...
@moldy
Take literally everything you just said, replace me w/ yourself, MS w/ Sony. I could reply to all of your negative Sony posts, but I realize it'd be as fruitful as banging my head against a brick wall & I simply would be here all day. You have your opinions, I have mine. We are in an open forum dedicated to discussing our own takes & opinions. Difference being I don't try to undermine yours w/ declarations of "agendas" & "biases&quo...
@moldy
Just give it up dude. I'm not going to "move on" because this is an open forum & I have as much right to be here as you. Again you go to the "pessimist" argument, and yet you are in every single Sony article guilty of the exact same thing. It's highly hypocritical, difference being I will freely admit that I'm skeptical of MS because the company has burned me & my friends on numerous occasions. They have plenty to prove to me, ...
Yeah I'm not sure we can go w/ the 'console has sold out' narrative already. Unless there are literally none on shelves anywhere, which doesn't seem to be the case...
Beyond that I'd be interested to see how many were even produced...I'd assume that if they had a large quantity already ready to roll out, they wouldn't have had to delay the release of the 500 gb model. Sounds like a short first run for the console to me....They could've only p...
I don't see anything in these tweets that points to a dedicated MS conference before the end of the year...the article is reading into those statements a bit too much.
He only says "they have things to show" & that he will "find the right times" plural which sounds more like stray announcements & a VGX appearance...He specifically says in multiple tweets that he wants to "find the right times", which doesn't sound like a single ...
The separate mythologies in the same world is my favorite part of this idea really. I mean these mythologies already existed together in real life...you didn't have Norse men praising Greek gods at any point, or Egyptians praising the Buddhist gods...every culture had their own mythology, and every culture claimed their gods to be the "true" ones. Some of these mythologies were separated by generations, others were only separated by narrow seas.
You definitely...
@shloob
Thanks for the info, I didn't realize there even were multiple formats for HDR until I read it in the XBO S IGN review today, but they said they used a Samsung 4k (which they apparently had to purchase esp. for the XBO S, insane to me that a site as huge as IGN didn't have a single 4k tv on hand, they are slacking there).
Sounds like MS definitely backed the right horse in this instance, those 3 are hands down the biggest sets on the marke...
@unholyone hit the nail on the head. There have been rumors & talk floating around that the One S would see a slight improvement over the regular XBO & this is just dispelling that stuff.
I think the biggest issue w/ the One S that I've only seen pointed out in one place is its HDR solution...apparently there are 2 major competitors on the market & the other big one is Dolby, which isn't supported by the One S. We've already seen what happened the l...
I'll be interested to see what the Ram set up ends up being...I see a lot of ppl assuming that in order to hit those 6 tflops that MS must be going w/ 16gb's of GDDR5 but who wants to bet there's a big ol stack of eSram in the final box?
@ratchet
Haha yup, that's the one. I remember playing Limbo on my iPad before it even got a PS release if I'm not mistaken, so I kinda assumed the same, that PS gamers would have a decent wait on their hands.
I love full exclusives because they are geared solely towards a single platform & fan base so they can be tailor made, I'm fine w/ 3rd party exclusives because those partnerships can be fruitful...I don't mind console exclusives o...
That's true, but it took years for Limbo to hit PS platforms, this one happens in a month. Just kinda goes to show that the game was ready for the PS4 at the same time it was ready for the XBO, MS just threw some money at them to trick gamers into thinking they'd either have to buy an Xbox to play it on console, or wait a few years like what happened w/ their last game.
Read the header, it's not disappointing because it's unfinished, it'll be disappointing to some because it plays nothing like the 15 minute prologue that everyone got excited about during MS' E3 presser.
It's pretty clearly a bait & switch scenario. There may be more sections like that one in the final game, but the lion's share of the actual game play is still present in the early access build and it isn't similar to that prologue in any rea...
They do share some devs don't they? I thought I had read that some of Corruption is made up of former Irrational devs.
I think what really has people making that connection though is the E3 demo...that section was markedly more Bioshock-like, all the way down to the button prompts, but it is in no way really indicative of the core gameplay & was only a playable prologue, it was weird for the devs to lead with that...kinda seems like they are leaning into that Biosho...
Moog is reissuing the mini...I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those bad boys but I reckon they won't be cheap
Tell that to all of the QB reviewers that all seemed to hang onto that idea of "innovation" through tv. Then all of the pieces that came out afterwards blaming gamers for not supporting "innovation".
I absolutely agree though, I haven't played this game yet, but even w/o playing it I can recognize & appreciate the scale of what's on offer. Doesn't necessarily mean that it'll be enjoyable for everyone, and sometimes innovation can get ...
