I fully agree...we are fairly far removed from the "ignorant consumer" generations. When everyone's grandmother is on facebook & everyone else has access to a quick & easy search engine and when the ever helpful store clerk is being forced to run through the entire product line in order to upsell, I don't think there's going to be that much confusion.

Also a great point in relation to Scorpio. Both companies will have base models & upgrades...

That's where the catch 22 lies w/ all of these arguments about sub services offering "better" games. We all understand that these services can't afford & publishers wouldn't want to give up brand new AAA titles on release, so we accept older titles, but the "better" games of the past are games most of us have already played. Sure there will be the stray title here & there that you were always curious about but never picked up but that'll be the exce...

Ok, I dropped the last 2 words, doesn't change anything about the core argument, unless you are saying that Sony has been trying to "buy out all the studios they can" yet failing every single time. If you are talking about facts, can you name one third party studio in the past couple generations that Sony bought?

As far as your own preference that is absolutely fine, but from what I understand, PS Now doesn't require a subscripti...

"Buy out all the studios"

When did that ever happen? To my knowledge, Sony's first party stable were predominantly created from the ground up by Sony themselves. Not aware of any big studio acquisitions a la MS buying Rare or Mojang.

Sony has every right to keep their own studios on their own platform, and if that results in the best possible game tailor made for that specific platform then all that results in is a legitimate reason to pick ...

Yeah I'm of two minds on the subject, on the one hand I'd like to see the slight proliferation in technology & infrastructure that comes w/ a sequel, on the other hand I'd like to see a deeper regression to an even more true vision of the Wild West.

Narrative wise though I'm fully in the prequel camp. We've played as the guy trying to earn redemption and being absolutely burned by it, now you can really dive deep into being the bad guy that John once...

I also think it'll be this year but to play devil's advocate, Sony may actually prefer that gamers interested in grabbing a PS4 goes w/ the Neo instead. They may be fine w/ cannibalizing their holiday sales a bit because in effect they will also be cannibalizing potential XBO sales as well while locking down gamers for the Neo. Sony may be willing to sacrifice a stronger holiday in order to create a healthier early adoption for the Neo seeing that it's kind of a new frontier in co...

Wait what?? I haven't heard anything about that, are you talking about a TLOU sequel rumored to be announced at the PS Meeting already?? That would make this thing tremendous.

I was most expecting a Red Dead reveal at the Meeting after that rumor from E3 & Colin from Kinda Funny being fully skeptical of it at first before backtracking & saying that his inside sources who are very deep inside & have never been wrong about anything had confirmed that they did ...

Holiday seems to belong to DriveClub VR if it hits that timeframe. Console VR racing is something absolutely new, Horizon is the 3rd iteration in a tandem annualized franchise. Horizon looks great mind you, and will likely be the most competent core racing experience, but more lasting memories will be made w/ DC VR. Like playing Rad Racer or Burnout for the first time I'd say.

I feel like racing games would get quite a bit more scary in VR. I'm a pretty decent real life driver but in games I'm nailing walls & running off cliffs left & right, does that feel a little crazy in VR?

To me VR driving sounds scarier than even survival horror haha

I think that's the biggest caveat, Sony hasn't paid these devs for PS+ so they are in a place where some gamers may hold out, sometimes indefinitely if even the hint of a game may be going free. They aren't getting that money from Sony & they may be losing a fair amount of sales w/ that suggestion getting floated. As a side effect though, some gamers who may not have that game on their radar could potentially hear about it while monitoring Plus or...

" hope it's September 7 quickly so at least this Neo crap will be done with. Then we will get all this crap with the NX and 6 months after that we get lots of speculation and stupid articles about the Scorpio. Sigh..."

Same here. I'm really growing tired of this endless hype train we are always on these days....nothing could ever live up to months & years of that kind of mass speculation. I wish more companies would pivot to the shortened reveal to rel...

Mafia is my most anticipated for the entire holiday season...I'm not generally a fan of open worlds because they are so unfocused & the stories are typically pretty poor & scattershot, but Mafia 2 hit a great sweet spot for me, eliminated all of the pointless side missions & just gave you a quality story w/ actual urgency. I understand Mafia 3 will have quite a bit of side content but a lot of it looks pretty meaningful for the actual narrative. Hopefully they are able to keep...

There hasn't been any yet, but if it runs on the same time frame as TLOU which released in the May-June window as well, I believe that Left Behind dlc was revealed around November & released in February the following year. In both instances they weren't beginning work on the dlc until after the base game had shipped so it takes a bit longer than the traditional ones do.

I'm hoping we will get a tease as soon as the PS Meeting but most likely it won't be ...

The leaked spec puts Neo at over twice as powerful as the PS4 so I wouldn't say useless. It's all according to what happens w/ the games. I'd say none of these upgrades will be 'must buy' at launch. It'll just be another branch to jump to later on down the line.

I feel the same way. It seems pretty obvious really considering the biggest Sony franchises have a history of a bigger focus on narrative & the biggest MS franchises are catered more towards mp. Spencer & MS themselves have gone on record saying that w/ any partners they take on that the first thing they ask for is some kind of mp component. We are seeing them change that around a bit this gen though, Sony receiving a more stable reliable network & pushing games like Destiny while...

You have literally zero basis to back up any of those claims. Neo doesn't even exist yet in anything other than rumored form, & aside from 6 tflops & some stray nuggets here & there, Scorpio doesn't have any specs locked down, RAM especially. Could end up w/ a box full of garbage esRam in there for all we know.

Let's wait a week for the PS Meeting, then let's wait another year or so to get actual final specs on Scorpio, then let's wait anoth...

Sales are absolutely relevant when we are "Beyond Generations" & all of your PS4 games are playable & improved by your Neo in the same manner that all of your XBO games are improved for your Scorpio. If I just bought a PS4 a year or 2 ago & accumulated a large library of games I want to keep playing but I would like to upgrade, I would naturally pick the Neo so I didn't lose access to all of those games & be forced to start my library from scratch. In an iterativ...

I fully agree...I may not have been clear, but I was just saying that power matters mainly when price is equal or lesser. That was one of the reasons why PS4 was such a success, the core fanbase that love their exclusives were always going to grab one, but Sony grabbed the general console gaming market as well when they released a more powerful box at a $100 cheaper price point.

Grabbing that lion's share of the market typically boils ...

That is a pretty horrible analogy. Not every film that has a sequel has a plot twist or even a cliffhanger...I never said anything about cliffhangers by the way so I'm not sure where that comes from. In fact, your analogy actually strengthens my original argument...there was a big event towards the end of TFA that many people weren't told to expect in advance, which made it work much better for those who were unaware. Unexpected events & full plo...

Plot twists can be really cool when done well....revealing your game or movie has a plot twist 2 months before it releases is not "done well" for me though. I saw a trailer for a horror flick that did the same thing today talking about the movie having a "huge plot twist". For me, if I'm expecting some kind of turn, it doesn't matter how well it's done, it is always much less impactful than if I'm going in completely cold. I wish creators would stop oversha...
